sony: we finished 3rd this gen.. launch price was to blame

sony has admitted that they have finished 3rd this gen.. and they blame the high launch price of the system.

Yes, when PS3 launched it was £425, I remember I got a new Core 360 for £200, around £220 with Fight Night Round 3.

Sony made it easy, and once GTA IV was announced for 360 there was no reason to hold back.

This seems like their death bed confession or last words or something, since it only took them until the end of the gen to admit it. I wonder when they're going to admit teh cell was a mistake. We'll see if they learned anything if they make a new console next gen.

Well, gaming is my #1 hobby so it was worth spending all of that money. Why did I spend £425 for such a console? Simply because it's PlayStation. I knew that Sony will deliver, and they did. I have alot of faith in Sony.

PS4 will be a day 1 purchase no matter what, even the price.

I know that BD's slow speed kind of sucks but it's necessary for this generation. Did you know that some 360 games come with multiple discs? What a failure.

Their $600 price tag certainly didn't make things easy for them, especially when the competition is offering products hundreds of dollars less.

I paid 600 for one and 900 for another because I was a little impatient waiting for it to come in the mail. I sent one of them to my brother.

At the time I had quite a bit of disposable cash, so it wasn't a big deal. I wouldn't spend that much now, being married and, generally, broker.

Their $600 price tag certainly didn't make things easy for them, especially when the competition is offering products hundreds of dollars less.

I'm guessing they were stuck with the price as they're currently losing money on every PS3 sold. They know that they should be selling it for more right now to make money, but they're selling it at a loss.

Launch price was the biggest catalyst, but they made many fumbles along the way to keep themselves down. They basically begged Ninty and MS to take their market share away. Its pretty amazing that the system turned out so good after such a horrible start.
