1. They work with google together and open their library and their concept for other smartphones. Plus they make an adroid smarthphone psp hybrid by them self. 2. The PSP2 is just better in technology. Nintendo has 3D therefore has sony better graphics. 3DS is just as strong as PSP while NGP is as strong as a PS3. 3D is pretty useless for handhelds, cause it will take too much battery life. Plus sony is the one who has better controlls this time. Two analogsticks, motion controls, two touchpads, camera and microphone. Sony lost the last generation because they focused too much on graphics while nintendo came with innovative controls. This time its completely the opposite. 3D is not ready for handhelds it will eat to much battery life while nintendo has nothing new with their controls besides that one analogstick.

I wouldnt say Sony will win it. I mean i like the NGP better, but a lot of people prefer the 3DS for whatever reason. Sales-wise this one is gonna be close.

Sony is going to get manhandled again because it's trying to be the jack of all trades. Didn't work with the PSP so why would it work with the NGP?

Having the least powerful hardware didn't stop the DS from outselling the PSP. Also the 3DS is far more powerful than the the first PSP (3DS offers gamecube like graphics)

Snakemaster9

i don't know if it's possible to sound more fanboy than that.

i personally don't like all those Pokemon games, so my choice would be obviously NGP. i also can't express how much i hate 3D. and in a handheld... OMFFFGGGG...!

No that 3hrs is 3D and max Brightness. I hate having my screen with full brightness. With Brightness off and full 3D is 5hrs the same as the PSP2.

Psp2 has next to no good announced games, the best I can see is Loco Roco 3, and some God of War rehash. They're already trying to make an Uncharted and Metal gear game and while great franchises, they most likely will not transition smoothly enough to the handheld field. The 3DS also has some pretty nice remakes and new games that actually focus on what counts in a game... fun.

But if you change the brightness on the PSP2 it may last 7 hours.

Replace "NGP" with "PSP" and go back 5 years in time and say this, and people won't see a difference. So yeah, 3DS.

Kingpin0114
The PSP was powerful and feature-rich, but the compromised controls crippled its potential. The NGP is powerful enough to support any type of game, has enough inputs to support any control scheme, is complex enough to give a convenient, high quality experience to the user, and is more than capable of providing experiences only possible on the NGP.

OMG, there are alot more used PSPs for sale then any other console and handheld put together. I think you are trying despetately to talk up your PSP because you are unfortunate to own one. you name one bad and unsuccessfulNintendo hand held device and ill poop gold. I dont think there are as many android owners that you think there are. combining a cell phone and a gaming divice will never be enough to outsell nintendo. and keep in mind the Wiis graphics dont even compare to xbox and PS3 and it still sells better than them. so graphics have nothing to do with it. its all about the games man and nintendo rocks everything else when it comes to exclusives. you have your "facts" screwed up a little i think.

How about a back touchscreen combined with dual analogs? There are enough combined controls to make things interesting if developers think hard. And both NGP touchscreens are capacitance (IOW, multitouch).

Something tells me Sony's done its homework this time around. It's got the control problem licked (look at everything it offers) and it's got the game medium licked (it's going solid state now that it can handle capacities comparable to a single-layer BluRay).

Honestly I don't think sony is even thinking about competing w/ nintendo in the short term. They see room in the handheld market, and they're going to fill that room.

I'm not saying it'll beat the 3DS. I'm just saying Sony's doing its homework, and this upcoming fight between the NGP and the 3DS will probably look a lot different. Sony's found ways to distinguish its NGP from the 3DS.

[QUOTE="HuusAsking"][QUOTE="jasonharris48"] No, it's not it just uses Google's Android OS.

Could've sworn the mockup had a 3G bar graphic.

Because it does use 3G service for online. Come on people whats so hard to understand? It isn't a phone, it's a haldheld system with no mobile phone features.

Still, that means getting involved with mobile carriers. Will the NGP be tied down by carriers or will it come with a SIM slot that will let you pick and choose (and then, in the US at least, there's the question of whether or not a 3G device like this will cover all the bases or just stick with one of them).

[QUOTE="HuusAsking"]How about a back touchscreen combined with dual analogs? There are enough combined controls to make things interesting if developers think hard. And both NGP touchscreens are capacitance (IOW, multitouch).HuusAsking

So that's why it will beat the 3DS? Awesome.

I'm not saying it'll beat the 3DS. I'm just saying Sony's doing its homework, and this upcoming fight between the NGP and the 3DS will probably look a lot different. Sony's found ways to distinguish its NGP from the 3DS.

Hmmmm...looks like Sony is using the portable console technique again IMO, but we will see what happens.

[QUOTE="SoraX64"]3DS will win because of library.SoraX64

sony has call of duty more they dont need

 1. I'm sure there will be CoD games on the 3DS 2. LoZ, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, etc. >>>>>>>> a half baked FPS made for 13 year olds.

1. i don't see how shooters would work with 3DS's button layout.

2. Only thing i give a damn about from those, is Zelda.

NOBODY i mean, NOBODY is going to give up their nintendo hand helds for a PSP2. the sales are going to be the exact same as they were when the DS and PSP first came out. sony has loyal customers and so does nintendo. therefore, i do not see a spike in PSP2 sales due to new controlls, touch screen (finally), or and android-whatever it is. like i said before its all about the library.

Perhaps, but this time they're making sure you can pull it off. First off, no more discs, so games load and access quickly. Maybe we'll see a quick-save feature that'll let you shut off most modes on a moment's notice. Then there are all the control features. After all, it's kinda hard to move a camera when your one stick is used for moving. Now there are two sticks, a full complement of buttons, and the two multi-touch screens (including one in the back--that's gonna make developers think).

They made it quite clear at the conference that they'll be supporting casual games, "hardcore" games, and everything in between.

Honestly, I think both companies will find difficulty dominating the handheld arena due to added competition and pressure from Apple and other mobile providers who seem to be incorporating gaming more dramatically into their devices. On the one hand, Nintendo has a strong appeal to minors and has a great reputation among parents for children's games (although they're online still sucks and doesn't seem to be getting much better) while Sony provides a technologically superior gaming experience that will attract the more hardcore gaming group. I think Sony has a better chance of capitalizing based on the crowd they're targeting and how mobile gaming can equate to what is experienced on consoles, which I think may persuade a number of PS3 and 360 owners to invest in the NGP.
