Splinter Cell Conviction: the hype thread

This poll makes me suspicious.

Doesn't matter Hahaduken, we can just play the cow's game and say "It's still AA so it doesn't matter". Or "still AA at GR/MC". Or "it was only 2-3 hyping it AAA". Etc. You've laid the groundwork so nicely for us lems. DeadMagazines

The groundwork wasn't determined this generation either way. It was determined by posters long since gone, at this stage this is a cycle that every faction has been guilty of in the past.

This game has been in development for years, and it's been hyped for a long, long time...this game has also had official hype threads, this thread's only purpose is to change the hype. That's not how SW works.

It's going to be a great game, despite anyone's misgivings with the Demo.

Why are People HYPING this game A again? It doesn't make sense. If anything, this game will be AA, if it doesn't make AAA here at GS.

How is this a Problem, you ask?

Well, how are people supposed to hype something they already know too much about?

Well, obviously people's hype is going to change from what it was....but it's not a problem, people are bound to feel differently.

That being said, I'm surprised to find people not remembering how HUGE a franchise SPLINTER CELL is, and how LONG this game has been in development to hype it as an A.

Does anyone really expect GS to give this game a 7? No way, it's not going to happen. IT's a different SC, but it's not going to be an average game. The only mistep was the last game, and that game didn't have a long dev cycle like this game.

Either way, constantly changing hype sets a bad precedent, but then again, somehow Heavy Rains hype was altered too, using other game sites scores to control the hype levels..to the point of crazyness, Metacritic and other sites scores were put in the name of the Thread to manipulate the Hype. This is the same thing, in reverse. Making a hype thread after playing the demo...from a GS poster that has only been here at GS since Feb 2010.

SW has changed over the years with new posters making the same old mistakes that veteran posters have learned over and over and over the years not to do. Now people are asking how it's a problem.

Bottomline, you will get this : "I voted A, because of the demo."

I'm saying people shouldn't be wishy washy, changing their hype left and right for the System Wars Meta game regarding Hype.

If you are talking about personal hype, people should change their expectations, sure.

However this entire time I have been talking about the SW Metagame, so if you are confused as to what that is, I understand. People shouldn't be adjusting their perdetermined SW Hype on games everytime a review comes out, a demo is released, or a press issued statement is released.

Also, I broke down the METACRITIC Metascores for Splinter Cell above, showing it's history as an AAA/AA franchise, as well as the development cycle for this game.

I here yah. The problem is this thread was made by a TC that's new to GS (Feb 2010)trying to change the hype we already have had for this game for years.

This is the thread's title that we clicked on, "Splinter Cell Conviction: the hype thread". I guess some posts are just predicting their scores, and modifying their scores when news comes out, but in SW we have a whole Hype Game to worry about.:P

I guess I should only speak for myself in this case. I'm just making an educated guess as to what score GS will give this. Yes, after playing the demo my expectations have lowered.

That's been happening with games in SW since last generation.

Polls have been broken in SW for a long time.

Guess what though, Splinter Cell Conviction already has a few "official hype threads" locking in it at AAA hype. This thread is just trying to change the hype a Week before the game is in our homes.

Besides, people have used this game for ownage, hype threads, and more for YEARS in SW, now that the game is almost here, we are trying to change hype?

No, that's not how it's going to play out. People are just going to link the other SC:C threads prior to the demo to pwn this thread when it comes out, and rest assured, the game is going to be AAA anyways, at worst AA. Not a misguided A like the new GS poster/TC is throwing out.

I posted a sweet Metacritic breakdown on page one, it's going to score great.

Ty cows created hype threads every week changing their hype for HR and whatnot, why do you keep bringing it up as if the TC is doing something radical? DeadMagazines

And those attempts were incorrect as well...however, the last attempt for Heavy Rain actually allowed for it to flop much easier, as it was a newer thread made by a moderator, with updates in the metascore in the title and a sticky to call in the votes. Unlike Heavy Rain a new IP, Splinter Cell is an established franchise and very well scoring series.

That being said, Splinter Cell is Huge and it's going to score great. There are certain franchises that are used for future ownage around here, like Mario, Halo, Metal Gear, Splinter Cell, Zelda, Metriod, Gran Turismo 5.

If cows try to make threads calling for Gran Turismo 5 to be AA or A Hype a week before it ships, I'll be in that thread too, I promise you...same for any of those huge games we see hyped for years all the time.

I don't think the TC is being radical, but I'm certainly educating everyone about the sitauation. We'll see it again in SW, and hopefully I will be there or someone else. :P

I enjoyed all splinter cells LIKE I SAID BEFORE.

I don't understand how it was dumbed down exactly. You can still grab people (not sure if you'll be able to interrogate them considering the new interrogation mechanics), you still have access to sticky cams. Sticky shockers and airfoil rounds aren't needed considering he will murder any enemy he comes into contact with. Shadows are still there but less frequent. Do you know how easy chaos theory was since most of the game was dark. I had no problems getting 100% stealth at all in that game.

Now can you please, please explain why it was dumbed down? Because you move faster?
