Splinter Cell Conviction: the hype thread

Well I kept an open mind about it, but frankly my fears are true, at least for me when it came to the demo. All these new features and turns of the series really aggravate me. Anything, from the black and white backrounds when you are hidden, to the "last seen" feature. I basically cant stand how drastically different it is. Im not going to give a score prediction, but Im not happy to say the least.

If I have to say something positive about it, I will say its somewhat enjoyable to mess with the guards like taking one out right in front of an ally, or leaving a body around in the light after originally being dark. Overall it doesnt feel like splinter cell anymore other than the guards being blind :P.

Didn't like the demo. I don't like what it does, but I will give the game a shot. I also think that for the most part it is a leaner, meaner, faster splintercell and should be a good game for the most part. Will it actually be the great game some people want? I don't know. jg4xchamp

Yes, but Splinter Cell, bar double agent, has been an AAA franchise.

After playing the demo lots, and thinking about the differences between other games.... The only reason why this might get a lower score than expected is because it's a Splinter Cell title. If this was any other game I'd be sure of an AAA...I voted that anyway.Ravensmash

Yeah, on its own merit it holds up, but not as a SC game necessarily.

I really liked the demo so i'm going for at least AA.

The room with a lot of guys, and the device that hangs precariously did it for me. Killing the dude in the back, dropping on the guy on the side before executing the two who stand together. Then finishing your performance by detonating a camera on the device to take out the last two.

I'd say A, I was very unimpressed by the demo and I don't expect much, but then I usually predict under the actual score so w/e.

7.5, maybe 8 if they're feeling generous.

I had high hopes for this game, but after playing that underwhelming demo my expectations decreased by a significant margin.

Predicting 9.0.

Looks like the hype dropped from AAA to AA. Was the demo that much of a turn-off?
