Square Enix "aiming" for a 3 disk FFXIII on the 360

With the overwhelmingpower it will take to run Final Fantasy XIII, Square Enixproducer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed thatthe 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII will ship on multiple discs, as previously thought.

"This is not the final count as we're still working on it, but we're aiming for about three discs for the Xbox 360 version," he stated when talking about the number of discs. After that, he then when on to assure that the two versions of the game will be practically identical, although he did concede that there will be "subtle differences" between the two.

"The 360 version and the PS3 version should be pretty much equal, both in terms of content and the visuals as well," he continued."Since the hardware is different, there might be some subtle differences if you compare screenshots side by side, but the team's being very careful about the compression of the data and the visuals, so that it's exactly the same on both."

Pretty much equal? Guess I'm buying the 360 version.

There are ROYALTIES on the 360 discs, so I can understand SE trying to save on that for the FFXIII 360 PORT.

I am all about going with the original design myself, for any game.

For instance, if Mass Effect was ported to PS3, I bought it on 360.

Same logic for FFXIII, I'm not going to get into some sort of port if I own both platforms.

Besides, my collection would look silly buying FFXIII on 360, and then FFVsXIII on PS3 (as it's exclusive.)

I like to keep the series going on the same system. Why would I buy Sequels to a game on another platform?

I did that for Soul Reaver, Halo, Gears, etc....and I plan on doing it for Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, etc.

One things for sure, we know it's multidisc on 360, we have no idea about any installs for either system.

Honestly, disc swapping is much more convenient than mandatory installations...especially when those installations are between each chapters.

How exactly do these royalties work? Square will make less significantly lessmoney off the game if it's on 4 discs instead of 3? I was anticipated 4 discs like Lost Odyssey, but obviously MS doesnt have to pay royalties themselves..Couth_

If I only had a 360 the 3 discs for FFXIII would not bother me one bit. I will be getting it for PS3 though to go along nicely with FFXIII Vs. Would also be nice if the audio for the PS3 version is Lossless.

And you are fully aware of the port version's laggy performance at the Microsoft's E3 this year right ? Even the developers playing that demo on stage admitted the they are running into performance issues on the 360 port version.

Guitar Hero's Load times are the same, and there is no install.

Of course, I'm limited by your collection.

UNCHARTED has NO LOADING TIMES AT ALL, and NO INSTALL EITHER.

Ill look into it, first time hearing about its preformance. IF its preformaance in the final version is indeed crap then I wont even touch it, until then I fully plan to buy the 360 version.

Any issue at this point does not mean much, since there's still time for SE to solve them.

From the sounds of it, the two versions will be very similar. Does this mean no dual language support for the PS3 version?

If I didn't have a PS3, I would do the same thing, the game should still be fabulous, for me, it's not just about the PORT issue.

The fact that I am getting FFVsXIII as well, would make my collection awkward, since FFVsXIII is a PS3 exclusive.

I'm worried that there may even be Ratchet and Clank/Mass Effect like memory additions to FFVs. that I wouldn't want to give up on.

but I would rather have it the way they have it now. If they delayed this game because they want to add japanese or English audio I would be a little angry I guess. (Id fine that guy at E3 who asked and kill him lulz)

Seeing as thier changing the 3d models to sync there respective voices and all is good enough for me and the English vioces actually sound good, so I don't see what the fuss is about it.

Who cares how many discs it has if it's not over 4, which it obviously won't be.
