Already answered your question about why I didn't use the fix. Normally if I have to run strange code I do so in a VM; obviously that's not an option here. As for why I bought a PC in the first place? Force of habit. I've had a gaming PC around since I was 12 or so. That said, I didn't say I didn't care about graphics - now who's ignoring the middle ground? I'm just saying that resolution isn't the deciding factor for me, or even close to being the deciding factor. Likewise, I have no complaints with the textures and lighting in current console games. If something truly made my jaw drop, I'd definitely still play it on PC, but nothing's done that in a long time.
