Super Mario 3D Land -Hype Thread- (56K) Flop In Three Dimensions! Out Now!

Another flop for the 3DS. After the huge amout of hype the 3DS received after its announcement at E3, surely this has to be the most disappointing handheld / entertainment device of all time.

The Wii U's announcement was a fail, i can't imagine how bad it will be once it launches.

I can't wait until the rest of the shooter lineup for the 360 flops this year.

I knew it would be in the shadows of the masterpiece that is Galaxy 2. Mehh, I didn't see anything special in it either, but I knew it would be a good game.:P Either way, I'll play it some day, but Nintendo, you're only getting my money for Zelda and nothing else for a long ass time bruh.

I think the review seems fair. Nothing about this game really looked all that exciting to me.. I mean it just looks like a dumbed down Super Mario Galaxy.. Why would I want galaxy to be dumbed down without the gravity segments or the gratification of collecting stars? I am sure its still good but it looks like they just wanted to get a Mario game out for the 3DS as soon as possible.

Mario Kart was the game I was really looking forward to anyhow.. now THAT looks like they seriously went all out I am super excited for it

what was negative about the game?im lost and 3d land did what it was suppsoe too....push massive amount of units and made a solid game i will be picking mines up soon

This game looks good, but it's going to have to wait. Rayman Origins is the must have platformer for the end of the year.

Dude I loved Luigi's Mansion, and I can't wait for a proper sequel instead of a big boy version in Alan Wake.:P I don't know, I should probably follow my sig more than I normally do lol. New Nintendo hardware excites me like.... *Don't want to get moderated*.:P

I was disappointed with the system, but ironically I still love it.:P I don't hate the 3DS, I'm just upset at how Nintendo treated the system during it's launch window.I just basically learned a lesson after 18 years worth of gaming the hard way and it was about time I guess.:P

I'll surely pick another one up, but used and cheap in the long run. I'm not interested in it right now, but I always need my Nintendo fix, so yeah lol.

They wanted to go back to the basics with this one, because they believed Mario was getting too faraway from what made Mario, "Mario". It was a risk, but I'm sure the game is great, hence the great scores. I friggin' loved Galaxy 2, and honestly I'm also not feeling this one, so mehh. I was honestly more excited about OOT 3D than this.:P

One thing for sure though, those who love Mario and played all of the platformers up until now, will love all the references in the title, which I'm pretty sure is what they were going for with this one.:)

Perhaps the entire site is transitioning to respect what the scores ACTUALLY mean. I mean, a 10 is an instant classic. A 9 is phenominal. Etc. It is pretty apparent this site went through a long streak of giving just about every major release a 9. There's been a lot of games getting scores lowered than expected. Perhaps they didn't actually score lower, but instead just weren't inflated.

I for one am extremely glad that GameSpot is finally starting to grade games along a much harsher scale.

So when a game gets a 9.5...it really means something.

You might be right on that, of late a 9.0 isnt to be taken lightly and actually reflects a really good score.Personally 8.0 isnt a bad score at all, it hasnt dampened my longing for this game one bit :)

Well, it is still an odd score for such a high profile game. IGN gave it a 9.5, but that is always "so what", ya know? I feel Eurogamer is the most accurate. Perhaps GS should start a .25 scale. Again, the really odd thing about the review is that it reads like a 9.0 score. Odd. I should check out the comments there..

and 8 means great so this is still a must buy if you a platforming fan people take the score 9 way too serious

I shocked how this is an 8 it looks way better than New Super Mario Bros.
