Switch owners of SW, time to get hype for Metroid Dread!!! Update: GS gives it an 8/10

GS: Metroid Dread review 8/10

Not necessary gonna be a super mega hype Switch exclusive but nevertheless, this is Metroid we're talking about and I gotta say, its been a long time since I made any hype threads but as of now, I'll make this into a mini hype thread. The real question, will it be the best since Super Metroid? Not really but hey, it's close to say the least. As for reviews, the embargo will be lifted today (1pm uct, from this post) and so with that, I'm gonna say GS will give it an 8/10 & 80-85 MC and since Samus Returns got an 85 MC, I wouldn't be surprised if it outscores above Samus Returns.

It'll be a 6/10 but GS will gift it a 10/10. :P

9/10 on GS and around 92% on Metacritic .. and I suspect it might score a 10/10 on GS.

If it did, all the Cow tears will be sweet...for you at least🤭

I predict GS will give it an 8/10, and I will find it a good but flawed game.

I'm definitely hyped. I wish I had more time to game right now :-(

If I had a Switch and it was a bit cheaper I would play this. Looks pretty cool.

Metroid got 8/10 here. Fuh what a relief game of the year aka 9/10 Returnal is still best 3D metroid and clear.

You do know the Switch Lite cost only $200 right? That's the cheapest Switch around.

I'll be getting the game. I wasn't impressed by its drab looking artstyle at first, but I'm sure the game will look nice on the OLED.

IGN sure has good taste in games. If they keep this up, I might just might, go back to IGN lol. Who am I kidding, GS is my only home.

Way too many good games launching in October. I can't play them all so I'm going to have to spread them out over November and December too :p

Reviews are coming back real positive... and it sounds like its one of the hardest games Nintendo has made.

Its been a long time coming for us fans of the series. We deserve a great Metroid and it looks like we got one. This weekend is a weekend to game and celebrate!

Was already getting the game, the positive reviews are just icing on the cake.

Looking good so far and seems to be about Samus Returns quality but possibly even better.

IGN says it took 11 hours to beat the first time, while GS says 9 hours the first time, 4 hours the second. Depending how the player plays will be a factor.

Already downloaded. Just waiting for 9 pm HST for to unlock.

Very generous of them. Probably saw most sheep being on suicide watch in 2021, so they gave em a 8/10 instead of a 6/10 to boost moral. WIll this work? I don't know. Most sheep know its a 6/10 game wearing a 8/10 tshirt, anyways.

Btw i was thinking, if this gets high scores and sells well, what will be the excuse for not developing proper 3D metroid games? Can't be always rehashing the same "Metroid is not selling well", so what will be next in the excuse department? Or is 2.5D side scrollers that should be sold for $9.99 is the future for this franchise?

A proper Metroid game is 2D. I'm excited for Prime 4 but if I had to choose between the Prime series and the 2D stuff I'm choosing 2D all day long.

Scores are overwhelmingly positive... another gem in the Switch library!

That's lies. Just because the originals were limited by its poor hardware for its time, that the whole series needs to be in 2d in 2021. Prime was better than all 2d metroid games, and that's a fact.

Now, if Nintendo wants to release nothing else but 2D metroid titles, that's fine, but charging full price of an AAA, it makes no sense. You don't need them to tell you that a game such as Mobile Dread doesn't cost them anywhere near as much as your standard AAA, but they're still charging full price like it was this complex title that took them age to develop. Literally a ripoff.

Eurogamer absolutely loved it.

It's sounding like a delightfully challenging game with tons of atmosphere (and one that doesn't undermine Samus' character). I can't wait to try it out tomorrow.

I'd like to clarify that though. Metroid Prime is a masterpiece, and one of the top ten games of all time. Then again, Super Metroid is *also* a masterpiece, and one of the top ten games of all time. The 3d and 2d games both have a place, and are different enough to coexist. You certainly couldn't pull off something as fast, fluid and acrobatic as Metroid Dread in first person - all the somersaulting would give you a headache, for starters.

There's a reason why developers are still trying to replicate Super Metroid almost three decades later (with Ori, Hollow Knight, etc.), and it isn't from a lack of budget. The formula works extremely well, and still feels fresh today.

The game has been presented quite well since it was announced, contrary to what the deniers have said.

The way a select few sheep hyped this it’s a barely satisfactory score.

Still reminds me of Samus Returns which I disliked, think GS gave that game a 9 and I disliked it. Might pick this up in 14 years when Nintendo puts it on sale.
