I know many companies would tell you to get lost. I've had to quote the Sale of goods act to many a retailer regarding replacement items.

Fairly sure the EU laws demand that, while in warranty, replacements not derived of the customer's own doing (for example, if you had dropped the laptop thus breaking it) have to be done, no questions asked, by the respective company. That's how it works here (Portugal) and in Spain (these two countries I know from personal experience), and I assume the rest of the EU countries. Plus each country's own laws that usually demand the same.

The ease and celerity of the whole process is a different issue (sometimes it takes a while to get the replacement or you have to send them the old one to a specific warehouse/store, etc), but they rarely (if ever) argue over here.

Thing is, Apple in this situation were well within their rights to refuse me a replacement as the laptop still functions as it should. Dead pixels are not a requirement to have a item replaced. In fact, some companies will only replace a electronic device with a screen that has more than 8-10 dead pixels.

The UK has the Sale of Goods Act of 1974 which states that items sold must be fit for purpose and free from defects. They must also match the product description which is why you sometimes see the "product may vary" shown on TV ads etc. If you have a faulty item you can return it to the store, don't let the store fob you off saying you need to contact the manufacturer which they will do because they are lazy bastards. I had to go to town on GAME when they refused to replace my dead 360 a week after I first bought it.

@clyde46: Maybe. Still a faulty product, since it came off the box like that. Regardless, if a product is within the warranty period and the fault was not caused by the consumer, it must be replaced by the respective company (be it you contacting them directly or going to the store in which you bought it).

Just got dragon age inquisition, it's one of the best RPG's I've played in a long time. Big step up in my opinion, there's just so much to do!

Yeah, not sure why you feel the need to make a snap judgement of the most active video game forum when you've clearly not spent a significant amount of time on there. Yes, but remember that I have been around at GAF since when you got me to join back in... 2009? It's always been a site to lurk at instead of post at. The community at Gamespot has always been my home (hence the 40,000 posts, shit, no life). I have seen it time and time again when dissenting voices are removed under different guises instead of, you know, actual Terms of Use violations which our moderation policy here is based upon. Don't throw the "snap" judgement card at me for you and I both know that to be bullocks. You reviewed that thread and my posts, and you even admitted that I wasn't being abrasive, so once again, don't throw that silly knee-jerk card at me again.

I blame Wasdie for the SJW use, but it makes all the more sense in the world -- especially when you have all the social liberals up in arms practically all the time.

Played Bayonetta 2 demo on the WiiU gamepad, and good freaking god. It was pretty mind blowing seeing how well it ran on there. Think I can get used to playing games on there more than using the TV heh.

@Wanderer5: I have a hard time not looking at the screen on the gamepad most of the time; it's more comfortable for me. I actually played the majority of Tropical Freeze on the gamepad. For some reason, playing that on the TV really hurt my eyes after like 10-20 minutes. Nothing like that happened with the gamepad though.

Dunno, I'm calling the garage when they open. The AA man managed to sort the clutch out but it will need a new cable soon but the battery is hosed. Sat for 10 minutes with the side lights on and it wouldn't start.

Damn, good luck with that. My first car ever was a Geo Storm and I used to beat the crap out of it. It could withstand anything. Then I got a Chevy and it was so touchy, always in the shop. It cost me so much money when I was so delicate with it. I have a personal grudge against American made vehicles now. I just got a Honda less than a year ago and I'm hoping it won't cause me any problems.

My Fiesta was made in Spain. Ford EU are a class above their American counterparts. But its done 92,191 miles so its done well, plus I don't exactly treat it with respect all the time.
