Since it's Christmas Eve/day, let me be the one to say, Merry Christmas to all of you system worriers out there.

Happy Yule everyone.
Awesome, has nothing to do with what I said.
Crap, read Rey. Not Ren.
Rey was a terrible character. Ren, actually has potential to be good. Though they better make him more intimidating in the sequel, all he has done so far is to make the Dark Side look very weak.
Go home Maroxad, you are drunk :P
@Heil68: That's awesome! Someone knows you well ;P
I cant believe it. That's way more than any secret Santa gift should be and I have no idea who gave it!
Yeah, don't most Secret Santas have like budget caps of $10? Haha, but hey, it's a very nice gift for sure.
Two things I want to say about the new Star Wars movie:
1. The only way people are going to get sick of star wars is if Abrams continues on his path of just copy/pasting stuff, I've been a star wars fan for 25 years and I don't plan on stopping, even if Abrams/Disney totally fraks up the license, I'll always be a star wars fan.
2. Darth Maul and Vader are overrated, there's Sith Lords that are just as good if not better than them like Revan (when he was evil), Malak, Nihilus, Darth Talon, Darth Bane, Darth Plagueis
The real question is... where is the snow?! It's gonna be like 70 degrees tomorrow. :(
Also, if you're not watching It's a Wonderful Life or A Christmas Story right now, you should stop what you're doing and get on that immediately. They're the only two movies that matter this time of season. :P
Okay, so I saw Star Wars.
Sorry guys, maybe I'm old enough to just be a creature of nostalgia at this point or whatever, but I loved it. It was absolutely great. I'm hard pressed to think of any way that a new Star Wars movie could have been done better. The ending is great and intriguing, and I want to see where they go with that, and I also love the clever callbacks to the earlier movies. I loved that the movie is not afraid to raise the stakes, because narratively, Empire notwithstanding, Star Wars has always been very safe. I loved the three new leads, and I like the setup for the new trilogy.
About the only thing I didn't like Is the new villain, Kayla Ren or whatever- I'm not sold on him. Dude has no charisma, no presence, he seems like a wimp. Maybe, hopefully, they fix that with the next movie, because Star Wars has always had great villains, but that aside, this was really great. Loved it.

Kylo.
Unity starting to grow on me. Never imagined I'd immerse myself in an AC game again( it feels like AC2 days again) . I got most of the controls down and while the story is hot garbage, I still like the setting. The frame rate is not so good in tons of crowds but that's to be expected from a game that looks like this. No wonder they downgraded syndicate lol. But yeah I tried co op too and it's so fun to play with other people. Getting constantly lost in the side content haha. Maybe I feel this good about it because I got it cheap? Who knows but it's worth the cheap price I got it for. Tons of fun content and the main missions that have assassinations, have a variety of ways to tackle. Good game so far.
@a-new-guardian: I mean, I got my copy for $20, so it didn't break the bank, and I still felt ripped off.

I thought he was a great villain. Kylo Ren was great and is basically what Anakin should have been in the prequels

Anakin gets a bit too much hate in the prequels. His arc could have been handled better (especially the dialog, good god the dialog), but there is nothing wrong per se with what we get. His character and its progression is fine, it just gets a bad rap because everything associated with the prequels gets a bad rap, even when it is done well.
Anyway, that aside, I'm not sold on him yet at all. I'm not sure if he's supposed to be a powerful villain yet, in which case they sold that aspect, but then we're left with the fact that this movie simply had no effective antagonist at all.
@mems_1224: I've not grabbed Syndicate yet, as i'm waiting until it's way cheaper. I'm a brit, so I probably like the appeal of something more foreign, over my home-turf :P
Though London actually looks pretty cool, and they scaled back the glitchy ass NPCs.

Dude, Anakin goes from being a good guy Jedi to murdering children in under 10 minutes because of a vague promise someone made him about a dream he had. nothing about his progression was done well. doesn't help that he was robotic and awful in the prequels
Ren isn't supposed to be powerful, in fact, Supreme Leader Snuke tells General Ginger to bring him Ren so he can finish his training. The whole point of his character in 7 is that he isn't Darth Vader no matter how much he, or we, want him to be. He's not a robot, he's unpredictable, angry, raw and obsessed with becoming Vader and thats what makes him a strong villain. The dark side of the force is all about giving into and drawing power from emotions like anger, pain and fear. he's the first antagonist in a star wars movie that actually does that. he even punches himself in his wound multiple times to draw power from the pain. IMO, he is by far the most interesting villain in a star wars movie so far.
@mems_1224: I wouldn't call him better than Darth Vader, but yeah, that's a neat perspective on things, definitely. Gonna be interesting to see how he is tackled in the coming movies.

Well, he's not better than Vader but as a character I think he's more interesting so far.
Anakin's arc in terms of how is character progressed and what his motivations were was satisfying, it was just the execution (the writing and Lucas' direction) that was bad. Also the actor didn't do the character much justice. But when I think back on the prequel trilogy and detach the story itself from how they were visually represented and just think about the events, I have no problems with how it turned out.
As for Ren, I don't know. I liked how he started the movie (his first scene where he stops that blast mid-air was so badass) and I like that he's much more emotive than any villain in Star Wars has been till date, and him doing what he did on that bridge definitely sold me on hating him, and I can see his inner conflict, but he just doesn't seem that threatening. I guess that's kind of the point though. Also the writers and Adam Driver have expressly said that while writing the movie, they didn't think of Ren as a villain, just a conflicted character, and that shows. Regardless of whether or not I think he's a good villain, I DO think he's a very interesting and intriguing character- thanks to acting, direction and writing, three things Anakin did not have going for him- and I'm excited about where they will go with him in Episodes 8 and 9.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Here's what I got:
SoulCalibur IV (XBOX 360)*
Tekken 6 (XBOX 360)*
Nintendo 2DS (with a download code for MK7)
Dragon Ball Z Season 2 DVD (NTSC US)
*- Here comes more playtime with British Alchemist and Hong Kong Police Detective over Edenian Princess and Thunder God. :P
Before Christmas, I took my brother and dad out to see Force Awakens. Any fears I made of it being the Dragon Ball GT of Star Wars, all gone. :)

Anakin was pretty meh in ep 1-3 (ep 1 was pretty pointless cause they started the story with him so young). I didn't like Hayden as Anakin, he did a piss poor job acting the role, personally they should have had Sam Witwer play as Anakin. If you ever watch The Clone Wars (2008) that show actually redeems Anakins character, that show makes Anakin sooooo much cooler/likable than the movie version of Anakin.
Also I loved Kylo, some people say he's a "weaker" version of Vader or a Vader wannabe, when he's just a Revan clone basically (which isn't a bad thing).
Like I said, I just didn't like the fact that Kylo took his helmet off, He should have just waited until Han shows up and you can take it off. In that scene I would have understand why he did it. I gotta agree with everyone, Kylo is what Anakin Skywalker should have been in Episode 2/3. If anything, in the Clone Wars CGI series, Anakin however was likable for me in that show and it did show Anakin and Obi-Wan as great friends/brothers when we were told to believe in Episode 6. you are definitely right about one thing, at least this is as close to Darth Revan as we'll ever get in today's standard Star Wars movies, which I totally like it since I still dig KOTOR when I played it on Xbox.
I'm still going to say that Finn is Force Sensitive, he handle that Lightsaber alright.
Okay, so I saw Star Wars.

Eh movie was alright, everything I predicted happened cause Abrams literally can't write a story with a damn, didn't help we had 15-20 minutes of trailers the past year showing off the 2 hour movie. I loved everyone, except Rey just fell flat during the last 15 min cause
Her gaining all that power in just a few min, she just outpaced Anakin and Lukes training with the force something fierce, and they had help with JEDI MASTERS!!. It was dumb and it's making her character unlikable for me, I don't have a problem her being more powerful than Luke/Anakin with time...but seriously they made her way to powerful too early. Also what made the movie from not being the best in the series is EP 7 is LITERALLY, A New Hope 2.0 with elements from the EU(oddly enough Disney refuses to have the EU be canon...oh wait they are jacking story from it) like Han having a son going Darkside, Ben was actually Lukes sons name in the EU, which they are hands down gonna make Rey a Skywalker aka Lukes daughter (even though he only had a son in the EU) cause all of the subtle actions she does in the movie (like a natural pilot, an amazing mechanic and walks the line of dark and light which are traits of a Skywalker), I won't spoil the nice hint they do during the Kylo/Rey interrogation, so watch that scene again and listen to what Kylo says, then match it to the ending of the movie and it makes sense. Honestly I would be shocked if they don't make Rey Lukes daughter.
Didn't get Far Cry 4, but got The Crew instead. Oh well, at least the crew is actually surprisingly fun, lousy visuals aside. I'm going to spend many hours just driving around the map, I love these kind of games lol
Malls are closed for Boxing Day here in Canada tomorrow (boo), but I'll get FC4 on Monday,
I know I'm always that late to the party guy, but I'm diggin Crypt of the Necrodancer. So simple, but so fun and unique.
@lundy86_4: yeah I love exploring the city and parkour around. It's so busy too. It feels alive, like every person is doing something and the animation is ridiculously good. The huge group of people protesting and walking through them while guards are among them looking for me was very cool and immersing. It was like a movie moment or something. Very atmospheric and nice looking. The customisation of your character is also really cool.
@charizard1605: I get what you mean, I felt that way when I bought AC3 for cheap and still felt ripped off. This however is surprisingly decent for a yearly franchise. A lot of work went into this I can tell. It's really fun and I hope it stays that way. This is based on a 5 hours of gameplay so my opinion could change. Perhaps it's because I went in with very low expectations and a cheap price so it helped lol. Not to mention I have one more final on Monday and I'll be done so I'm in a pretty good mood lately hehe.
Rumours spreading a while ago that a Demon's Souls remaster is coming to PS4.
60 fps and few enhancements and it would be amazing. I miss this game so much.
