P3 was less social and had less to do during your time outside Tartarus, which isn't too great overall, but admittedly I never really liked that social link stuff so it didn't bug me at all. I found it to be a waste since I just went online to pick the "best choice" just so I could get a level up. I want the reward, don't give a crap about your story kind of thing going on here. It didn't help that the games have a timer so it practically devolved into clicking the right choice when the prompt comes up and not really listening at all to what the characters are really saying (as if any of them had anything interesting to say tbh). It's not like you couldn't read and understand, its just that you are looking at the end goal more than the journey when you care only about the reward at the end which will be needed in days time. If the time was infinite then I might pick other choices but alas that is not the case.
I guess I play RPGs for combat and getting stronger, not to listen to a guys life story. This is precisely why I don't pick other choices that give lower points as it is detrimental to me getting stronger. I may sacrifice this notion every once in a while since I don't always understand every system thrown at me immediately or I missed a kick ass item or whatever, but for something as simple and easy to check as social links, which are undoubtedly the meat and potatoes of the outside experience, I can't let stuff pass.
Overall P4 was the better game, but P3 was more my type of game with its execution. It felt more like a core RPG I guess.
