Okay, so now Deus Ex and Kindgom Hearts aren't RPGs either.

Mass Effect, The Witcher, Dark Souls, Pokemon... the list keeps on growing.

Says who? Let them believe what they want.

I was exasperated at first, then I was annoyed, now I'm just laughing. Going a bit OTT, these guys :P

My return to MGSV and as expected I have to get used to it again.

Mission 30 is amazing. I love how you have stealth your way into an entire base of three stages. This is what MGS4 lacked.

Now I'm relaxing in a vehicle with skull face after some cinematic walking lol.

I've found that TPP is always at its best when you try to go all out stealth.

But, well, of course it is, it's MGS :P

Anyway, I've done the last few episodes that way, mostly getting past all the guards I come across (not even Fulton extracting them at this point), and I find it's incredibly satisfying. I'm in and out of the enemy bases and they never even know I was in there.

Well, they do find when I'm a safe distance away and detonate all the C4 I'd planted on their anti-airs and comms equipment :P

@khoofia_pika: lol at that mission I saw containers that have high resources needed for mother base and decided to compromise my stealth play because I love extracting that shit. It stands out in the middle of the desert and has fire resources and those are hard enough to come by so yeah I took the risk.

Guards kept reporting missing resources and one after the other I tranq them and another comes to check out his buddies taking a nap and then he joins them lol. I never killed or got an alert though. I'm surprised I was able to adjust back to the system fast. A few minutes in free roam and I got back to my old play style better.

Wreaking havoc was never my style too. MGS best moments truly are when you stealth your way without even touching anything and the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment when that Fox hound badge shows up is one of the highlights of this playthrough. I never did get it on a first time playing a mission thought. I have to learn the mission and practice enough to get to that level. But yeah MGS series was always at its best when you stealth. It never stopped me from replaying the games and killing everything thought haha!

!

@a-new-guardian: Lol that tactic works beautifully almost every single time. Find a bottleneck, go prone, make some noise and then keep putting the guards to sleep as they literally line up in front of you. It's game-breaking at times, but I end up resorting to it when I find no other way around a problematic situation :P

And yeah, stealth is obviously the way to go, and I may be going against what I just said, but sometimes it's stupidly fun to just take your rocket launcher and blast the shit out of enemy outposts lol

@khoofia_pika: yeah the AI isn't the smartest. They had to compromise this because of the sandbox. There was no way they were going to achieve MGS2 level AI in such a big open world. But most of the time it's good enough and even better than good but it's pretty rare. Overall I'd say decent. All MGS games had good AI from what I remember.

Also yeah no harm done in sniping them too lol. I sniped so much that they started wearing helmets. Then even talk about snakes acts and how they developed stuff to counter attack him. This is the first game where an enemy adapts to your play style this way. I hope many future games implement this feature. That Shadow of mordor nemesis system would be interesting in a GTA game too but I think too taxing maybe.

Also I just went back to mother base to shower and D-dog jumped on my bloody face and licked all that blood. The game actually pays attention to how long you were gone and welcome you back. Pretty cool detail. It even throws a party for your birthday I hear lol.

And The Road, so good. It became one of my favorites. I'm looking forward to reading Cormac McCarthy's work again.

Read The Road. It's too good.

I don't read enough. My wife reads enough for the both of us (told me she's already read 11 books this year. WTF?) But when I do read, I feel better about myself. I think it's a realistic goal, and if I read more then that's wonderful. I need to have reading in my regular life routine.

Oh, how did I miss this book discussion?! Indeed, The Road is such a good book, the movie is decent as well. I'd also recommend Lord of the Flies which is somewhat dystopian/post-apocalyptic. Some other really good books I read recently were Brave New World, Beowulf (okay this one is kind of ehhh), Frankenstein, Heart of Darkness, and In Cold Blood. All of which are pretty dark, but have thought-provoking plots as well as superb usage of figurative language and other rhetorical devices.

Man, I loved OKB-Zero. My favorite sneaking areas are typically those small pockets of jungle you come across, but as far as the bases go, OKB was excellent.

It doesn't stack up to Camp Omega in the sandbox feel, but for straight up challenge it was just great. Between the multiple points of entry, the well placed, well equipped patrols, the walker gears, the enemy chopper looming overhead, the cameras, tons of different paths to take, seemingly endless reinforcements, it really just made for some oppressively tense sneaking.

And even if you're ballsy enough to go all-out-action, they were kind enough to put a tank in each stage of the base haha. Though trying to gun your way through the base is absolute hell (as it should be.)

I really wish the game had more bases like that though, it was a great one.

-

And yeah dude, that jeep ride after the cinematic walk? Fucking lulz man. That might be the most unintentionally awkward moment in an MGS game. Just a one sided conversation followed by a song to fill in the rest of the ride. Skullface should have been like "dude are you even listening to me?"

OKB Zero is probably the most well designed infiltration area in the whole game. I always get caught out two thirds through the second stage, when going through the rooms that need lockpicking on the left side. It's annoying but, I always appreciated the challenge for what it was.

Yeah, it's a great one. Really, a few more bases with that level of challenge could've gone a long way. I wish the mansion area would've been that heavily fortified at least, it felt too cheesy just being able to walk in the back door and head downstairs when you're extracting one of the most important targets in the game.

And yeah, come to think of it, I still haven't cleared OKB 100% stealth. I'm not even sure if pure ghosting that level for a true stealth run is even possible, I'll try it soon though.

Without the right equipment, the internal portion of the mansion proved to be a decent challenge. The tight corners, and small rooms proved to be a change of pace from the rest of the game. However, as you said, once you walk out the back door, the jungle crawl is easy enough.

Well yeah, I can give it that. The first time, when I didn't know where to go or what to do, it threw me for a loop. I figured surely they're holding the target on an upper level, so I found myself navigating the entire mansion. Both inside and out, there were plenty of odd angles that could screw you up. And if you actually take down the skull snipers on the way in, then the escape from the mansion (as well as one of the sub-objectives) proves to be more of a challenge.

@ConanTheStoner: If MGSV had levels like Camp Omega instead of open sandbox with two maps, I think the whole game would have been much better.

As for that ride? Yeah I even took a screen of his face and snake was really acting awkward. This is one of those moments in the game where I think why doesn't he speak? I mean in past games sure NPC's spoke a lot but snake actually Interacted with them. But in this one he just froze and doesn't even look at him at times lol. I just sat there playing with my phone and listening to the epic music that played. I appreciated the challenge of this mission as well.

Ditched all 20 of my max-level units and am doing it all again. Curious to see how much the game has changed from Early Access to official release. So far, so good. Plenty of little touches, balance changes (Plague Doctors stopped sucking!!), and QoL improvements. Game's giving me more trouble than I remember it ever giving in Early Access despite that. lol

I've been good with the casting since the beginning and I'm very happy with the footage I've seen. Can't believe the movie is almost here.

Total discretion: this is coming from someone who greatly enjoyed Man of Steel. Hate is for suckers.

Oh, and Suicide Squad trailer.

@Bigboi500:It was. Love the music, love the visuals, love that it is just filled with hope and emotion. It was a great film and I watch it regularly.

@Technoweirdo: I have high hopes for Will Smith as Deadshot; Lawton can be a great character and I think Smith Will bring the right amount of depth and fun to the character. Also, this could be the first movie that I truly enjoy Jai Courtney in based on the trailer alone (he's Captain Boomerang, and had several lolz-worthy moments.)

To each his own, but I'm in the camp that Batman v. Superman and Civil War both look awesome and it will be an incredible month/2 months there for comic book fans who enjoy both DC and Marvel. And I didn't care for Superman all that much years ago, but actually reading and seeing Superman has made me a fan of the Kryptonian.

Also, Wonder Woman footage that was in the CW special. It surprised me that it was there, wasn't expecting!

It's gotten to a point where I tell myself, what if I just stayed in the lounge, because somehow it does actually feel like System Wars gets dumber. Because it's one thing with the bad video game taste, that's whatever, it's video games, who cares. But posting objectively false information, when you are on the internet, have access to google, and thus can fact check, and still posting something objectively false.

Much more hyped for Suicide Squad than BvS, personally. Leto as Joker better be good.

Oh, and random question bruhz- do you like TPP's Afghanistan map better or Africa? I personally think forest >>> desert

@jg4xchamp I will be offended if I'm not on that list, you know

You think The Witcher 3 is a great game. It's incorrect, it's not offensive. You need to dig deeper buddy, this is SW, you're just alex smith. Out there on the forum there is a Tom Brady of morons.

@jg4xchamp: But how do you get to demonstrate your objective superiority, you being he Beacon Of Truth, if you don't venture out of the Lounge? It is your job, your holy duty, to show some light to these plebs, champ. Even though it's really a losing battle, yeah.

I always thought that the idea of Batman and Superman fighting each other was something only a fan would come up with.

It's like a fight between brock lesnar and a paraplegic. And then they don't really fight lol.

@jg4xchamp: I don't know how to respond to this. All I got was I'm not on the list, which disappoints me.

Man, WB movies continue to look horrible. Batman vs Superman looks like hot garbage.

Agreed, what a waste of wildly superior superheros.

On the flip side I am still pumped for that X-men movie, Apocalypse is the shit.

Spotlight #5: Nekomaru Nidai

Series: Danganronpa 2

On behalf of the two Danganronpa games coming out on Steam soon, why not? Anyway, Nekomaru is a coach who obviously works out a lot and has a disdain towards lazy people. While he may look frightening, he's actually a pretty cool guy but he can get nasty about certain topics especially ones that involve bowel movements, girls like Mahiru have to tell him to stop. Also, dem electric blue eye auras.

I have the weirdest boner right now.

I want to say I have the weirdest stoner right now, but that doesn't exactly work.

Feeling left out. :(

Dammit, man! We need to come up with a script. These coordinated jokes just won't work if one of us keeps getting left out.

And speaking of fans, wish there was a crossover with Shonen Jump vs DC for a change.
