Your attempt to debunk myth 25 is completely erroneous. That is no myth.sonicare
true. it's more of a blatant falsehood than a myth.
5. Sorry but reverse pyschology states that just because a game is a remake does not mean it can't be exclusive by default and it seems more of a question ofcontent and its different between different platforms. The test is whether or not the experience is different from version to version. Does this new content give gamer enough new enemies, weapons, items, and features to make the game fell different? I would argue that NGS is exclusive to PS3 andNGB is exclusive to Xbox. Sure much of thecore game is shared between the two, but each offers alittle different experience based on different enemies, weapons, placement enemies and encounters, new bosses, new levels, etc. I think the core of this arguement comes down to the experience the game gives you and if that experienceis dupilicated on another platform.5. a game remake is automatically exclusive - no. unless the game is radically different, it's just a different version with some exclusive content. for a timely example, want to argue that the extra content makes it a new exclusive game, (cows, i'm looking at you) why are you starting this now with ng:sigma? what's so different about this one game that makes it exclusive when every single other remake or port with extra features has not been considered exclusive in the past? why was it said that the xbox lost ninja gaiden as an exclusive when sigma was announced if the game is different?
8. nintendo systems are kiddy -no. games for everybody doesn't equal games for kids. just because ninendo consoles tend to have fewer T or M rated games than the competition doesn't mean they're kiddy. they've been home to some of the most violent games ever made. you could call nintendo systems more "kid friendly" than the others but that's about as far as you can go.

8. Sorry but Nintendo is kiddy. Doesn't matter how many violent games it has compared to other platforms....all that matters is the publics perception and hate to break it to you, but when little Jimmy or Sally come to mom and dad and beg for a game....the first thing that pops in mom and dads head is Nintendo....."Nintendo makes cool harmless games for our kids to play". Yeap kiddy is the perception whether you think its a good or bad stigma, doesn't matter, you won't shake it unless the general non-game playing public perception changes.

OMG...umm there is no right or wrong on this issue its peoples opinion of whether Nintendo is kiddy to the general public or not. Doesn't matter whether we feel otherwise or not. Heres a test....I dare you to walk outside on the street and randomly ask, I don't know...maybe 20 people at random this question. "When I mention to you Nintendo, would you say their games are for kids or adults".What do you think the majority of the answers will be. look I am not going to split hairs of kiddy versus kid friendly.....thats stupid. What I will point to is what people that generally do not follow gaming (which is the majority of the world) their answer will be Nintendo is for kids........kiddy or kid friendly or whatever, its the same perception. the general public does not know the difference or probably care for that matter. What they do count on is this idea that without being informed they can trust Nintendo games to generally be ok for their kids.Let me give you a real life example from my own experience. I have a monthly client that I visit for work and from time to time we talk about our children. Well he has 5 year old son and last year we were talking and I mentioned had his son gotten into video games yet. He doesn't know much about the games, but you know what he said? He said "I got him one of those Nintendo thingys". He didn't really know what it was, all he knew was that he felt comfortable getting his little (boy kid, child) a Nintendo. I asked why and he felt ok with Nintendo and their history for games they make for kids.
Now thats my experience with non-gaming public and their perception of Nintendo being kiddy.
Why does Case Wag say that the PS3 will probly finish behind the Wii AND 360? This is a very young console cycle. Any thing could happen.MetalContra
anything could happen. but looking at the way things are now and making a reasonable prediction, i doubt much will change. the wii is looking like this gen's ps2 while the ps3 and 360 will probably be duking it out for 2nd like the gc and xbox did last gen.

As said before kid-friendly, not kiddy. Nintendo believes that gaming should be acceptable to ALL ages. Therefore, they have games that would be acceptable for children to play without gore and other suggestive themes. "Nintendo is kiddy. is a narrow-minded opinion. NOT A FACT. Nintendo has kid-friendly games is a fact. The "general non-game playing public" doesn't create facts. You just think they do. The perspective of other's don't prove any fact. Please pick up some facts and speak less ofshallow thoughts.

He won't understand you Casey its best just to give up. The definition of a myth is a simple one.
we get the point of the myth but the fact remains for the general public nintendo is associated with kids.and they will act and treat accordingly.Great_Ragnarok
The General public thinks that ALL video games are for kids, not just Nintendo. Or at least they did for the last couple of years. The only real different, real being the subjective word here, is that more people are willing to give the Wii a try than the other systems.
believing a myth to be true doesn't make it not a myth.

Great wording you put there. It's not a myth if it's true. If I can prove that Nintendo is catering to young adults and kids, than I can say that Nintendo's products are for kids. The perception of rated "E" or "T" can be consider childish by having a universal themea child can understand. Remember that "truths" can also be created.

pc gaming isn't the social experience as console gaming as. when was the last time you had 3 friends over to play some 4 player gaming huddled arond a pc monitor?
how about controls. pc often lend themselve to having customizable control schemes that aren't present in console gaming.
or how about how pc rigs receive significant hardware upgrades every 4 to 5 months with console having them only 4 to 5 YEARS?
driving games? do we get to knock pc versions for having to use a k/b and mouse? of course not, the hermits say, "buy a driving wheel"... so now you have to buy extra things that aren't needed for console gaming...
different animals altogether.... maybe you want to include cellphones?

Different? Yes. Uncomparable? No.
Consoles have very comparable hardware architecture (mostly) and software libraries to PCs.
Unlike other types of gaming, handhelds, cellphones or arcade games, these two are closer than any other type. The comparison is strengthened by the fact that the PC is one of the most proliferate electronic items in households in the Western world (like the phone, but as I pointed out it doesn't have the same hardware or software), and the estimated 2007 PC userbase far outstrips even the userbase of the PS2. So yes, the PC is similar, and so common it's always going to be considered.
No amount of anecdotal "most of our pc are so filled with work related crap" or the slippery slope fallacy you get into about cellphones being considered can remove this basic truth.
And last time I checked, split screen gaming was not what defined different styles of multiplayer. Consoles are trying to hard to become like PC gaming anyway, with user created content, online and breaking into genres they have traditionally done poorly in (RTS, MMORPGs), that your argument is more archaic than ever.

don't tell the cows, they think MGS4 is a "sytem seller" ie; making people want to buy a system for one game..Maybe I'm just more reasonable than some. So, system sellers are a proven thing, then? I don't believe in it. It takes a need (for entertainment) and at least 3 games before I'll spend more than $200 on something.btw; GTA and Halo are two proven system sellers i know of...;)

The closest I think I've seen in reality is Wii Sports ;).
that doesn't even make sense...
console and pc are two different industries...
if not, what is the NAME of the pc that sony and ms are fighting?

it makes perfect sense. if you want to take the pc out of system wars, why not take the ps3 out of the ps3 forum? when somebody makes a pc vs. 360 thread in either the 360 forum or the pc forum, where do we send them? here. why? because it's "system wars."
the pc platform is simply referred to as the pc.
[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]a shame to see those silly people saying that. tsk tsk.tango90101
i don't think it's fair to call people who are disagree with you as silly, especially since they're more plugged into the gaming industry than you.
if pc counts as console does why aren't racing games reviewed using a pc's standarnd controller (k/b and mouse)?
not to mention, i've never seen a "system seller" on pc....
can you think of any pc game that has made a consumer say, "hey, that game looks so good i'm going to buy a pc for it, at $1,500"...
i really think your own belief has clouded your eyes to reality... it's okay... it happens on Fox news nightly... :)
they can be played with a k/b and mouse but a steering wheel is preferable...same with consoles.
people must buy gaming pcs for a reason. same with console gamers.

Then PC sales should be the winner of sales and SW's. Sales for PC's world wide is estimated at 267 million for 2007. :| I CAN install a game one EVERY one of those units too. So I guess PC>Wii and wins this generation.[QUOTE="Noles_Enemy"][QUOTE="Jandurin"]MS and Sony are catering to young adults and kids.JandurinMoreso than Nintendo?Explain how that makes any difference whatsoever.
McDonalds sells hamburgers, chicken nuggets, and salads. There specialty are burgers; therefore, we call them a burger restaurant. Same concept implies with Nintendo. Nintendo specialize in games that are for the young kids. Yes, they have their share of adult games, but we not Calling McDonalds a chicken joint are we?

Your argument would be better served using Ruby Tuesday's or Fuddruckers.
Regardless, does that mean that the PS3 is a bluray player? That the 360 is a shooter console?
That the PC is a device used for work only, not games?

I'm not saying it can't do these things, but we usually label companies at their specialties. There is no myth about that.
Off topic: I applaud Nintendo for taking the "family-oriented" route in gaming. I think there is too much violence in video games. I think the Wii can put gaming back in the spotlight as a "safe" entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
