Anyone who doesn't think the PS2 is the greatest console of all time is delusional. NO other console in history has had the sales, the mainstream appeal, the diversity in genres, the size of game library, as many groundbreaking titles, etc. I think purely by those numbers, the PS2 was not just the console to be credited for bringing gaming mainstream, but it is also the most successful no matter HOW you look at it. I think years from now people will look back at the PS2 as being the peak of console gaming.

Granted, much of this is because it was the right console at the right time. But regardless, I can't see any console ever coming close to doing what the PS2 acheieved. NOt sales-wise, not game-wise, not genre-wise, etc. Much of these things are already dying off as developers/publishers go bankrupt, buy each other up, focus more on big budget sequal than innovation, etc. NOt ot mention the new mass market doesn't care about most genres anymore cutting the chances of those other genres being focused on or even imported, unlike the PS2 day.

Nah, that is nothing more than a popularity contest sprinkled with little nostalgia.

The SNES and Genesis complement each other so well, that they are basically the exact same quality wise, ofcourse depending on what genres you prefer.
