360Disappointing trailer, but except for the goofy-ass dragon shout it was pretty cool. Nice environments, fantastic snow effects.
Is it known what version the footage is from?

whoa whoa whoa..what lies are you referring to?[QUOTE="lawlessx"][QUOTE="ice144"]I refuse to be hyped. Anyone else remember all the lies we were shown in the previews and gameplay videos before Oblivion came out? Worse than Peter Molyneux. I'll watch it, and it'll probably be great, only for me to play it and find out that it's not what i was told it would be.Cherokee_Jack

"Oblivion is infinitely superior to Morrowind in every conceivable way."
LOL
Just to clarify, all of this trailer was captured on Xbox 360. Also, the draw distance is not faked in any way.
From Bethesda's community manager.

Good news... Looks awesome for a console game. Just hope they gets some more vids out soon. I wanna see how smooth long distance travel is.
I bet the game will look unbelievable on PC. I'll be more than content with the 360 version, but I am still looking forward to seeing some gorgeous PC footage.
ironcreed
Yeah.
If I don't have a new PC by release, I'll most likely get it on 360.
Also, I want to just say this: dragons are the new zombies. Or the old zombies, rather, since they've been overdone for much longer.
Elder Scrolls lore is so great because it doesn't center itself around fantasy cliches like dragons and effeminate elves. Now this game is pretty much all about the fricking dragons, and so far they seem like completely stock fantasy dragons too. I hope they at least uphold all the history they set up about the dragons previously, instead of making them straight monsters.

I share the same sentiments, man. Let's see how it turns out :).
Did you guys notice the running water? it looks terrible! The game is still in development though, so i hope they fix that.harry_james_pot
Only disappointing thing from the trailer. 8 months should be plenty of time to fix that tho, hopefully they will.
Great Trailer. The graphics are better than expected, and everything doesn't move like a Robot! I am already impressed. Waiting for more gameplay type stuff though.
I thought it was PC footage... Bravo Bethesda! If I didn't see confirmation that this is 360 footage I would have thought that its most definitely PC at least on medium.Serious looker

Trailer looks good.
But is it right that both Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim are coming out in the same month...in the same week?
While the plot sucks - honestly I am so sick of the 'chosen one' story lines of RPGs which are terribly overdone...skrat_01Eh, I agree, but Morrowind's was interesting. Mostly because the conflict was fairly realistic and wrapped up in political and religious intrigue, not just Good Guy vs. Bad Guys like most other stories of that type (including Skyrim, it seems).
While the plot sucks - honestly I am so sick of the 'chosen one' story lines of RPGs which are terribly overdone... It looks nice! Hears hoping it isn't the shallow underwhelming thing that was Oblivion, though I can imagine the narrative and dialogue will be horrendous if Fallout 3 was anything to go by (as far as more recent Bethesda is concerned).skrat_01Actually, Vvardenfell (the place you play in Morrowind) got destroyed because of your character. Well, Indirctly because of your actions. And because of your char in Oblivion, The Empire is falling apart. Even though you saved the world, you failed to save evertything.
I don't get how people can be disappointed that "it looks just like modded oblivion". Yes, Oblivion with mods looks amazing, you know why? Because when the developers make a game they have to make it accessible to everyone, or at least as many people as possible. And that doesn't mean consoles are holding it back. It means that the average PC gamer needs to be able to run it. The average PC gamer only owns an average-to-good PC. Not everyone can afford a top-of-the-line gaming rig, and if Bethesda make their game too CPU intensive they're cutting out a lot of the market. Oblivion was pretty scalable as it was, and at the time looked fine on maximum settings, but if they were to have high definition textures like Qarl's texture pack as part of the game, most people's PC's would not be able to run it. People always seem to ignore the fact that modders do not have these limitations. Time and money are no issue for them if they want to do something their way. They can keep improving textures, lighting and so forth far beyond the realm of what most PC's can handle. That doesn't make a commercially released game worse for not living up to the lofty expectations that infinite resources can provide, and I'm sure in a few years time, Skyrim with mods will look amazing. It's like saying "look at this hot 20 year old!" and getting the response "Pfft... she looks just the same as that 40 year old who's had tons of plastic surgery and had her textures improved". I know which I'd pick.
Hopefully the fighting is ALOT better than Oblivion, i mean, i want to hack off limbs. when i cut someone with a sword i dont want them to have absolutely no trauma to the body. I want more realism than Oblivion.

That would be uber... Maybe they will surprise us with that.
This is probably my most anticipated game coming out this year along with RAGE. I cannot wait to get my hands on it and play it for hours and hours like I did with Oblivion.
That trailer really got me pumped.
I really want to get my hands on this after seeing the trailer. Hopefully they don't do GFWL or Securom because thats an automatic skip for me.
I would like Zero drm, but if they do use one they should use Steamworks.I really want to get my hands on this after seeing the trailer. Hopefully they don't do GFWL or Securom because thats an automatic skip for me.

The dragon fight in the trailer was all ingame and unscripted.

@OutlanderDF Yes, in-game. Only things not in-game are the shots of the wall from the previous trailer. Dragon fights are pretty epic
I was very disappointed in the trailer. The environments look nice, I will give them that, and the dragon fight was pretty impressive, I will give them that. But overall the trailer is not what I had hoped for. The norse setting is nice, but I am sick and tired of dragons in Fantasy.
You do realize Dragons hardly ever appear. DA:O only had 2 of them, FF usally has 2-3 (except the old FF 1-3, they where a random Uber thing). Planescape had 0 iirc, Neverwinter had 1 iirc. Skyrim has more than 2.I was very disappointed in the trailer. The environments look nice, I will give them that, and the dragon fight was pretty impressive, I will give them that. Believing Bethesda hype isn't very smart.
This is coming from the same people that said all those lies pre-oblivion.The dragon fight in the trailer was all ingame and unscripted.

Planescape had 0 iirc, Neverwinter had 1 iirc. Skyrim has more than 2. They're often framed as a central part of the lore, though. And I think the bigger issue is how they've been treated in fantasy literature and art. When I see a dragon at this point, I half expect him to transform into Fabio or something.I was very disappointed in the trailer. The environments look nice, I will give them that, and the dragon fight was pretty impressive, I will give them that. But overall the trailer is not what I had hoped for. I cant WAIT FOR THIS! This should keep me good til next gen, they prolly waited so long to release it cause they know no one will buy any other games and get sucked in, killing sales of other games
I don't really care if it only looks marginally better than Oblivion (it does look better).
All I care about is that the world is more consistent with its quality, meaning less pop in and weird texture issues, and that the game runs smoother without the stuttering. If Bethesda delivers on that and the engine is less riddled with bugs, I'll be as happy as I can be with how it looks.
