I saw the new first person view in motion from a video yesterday and I have to say it looked pretty cool. The paraglider and the fact that you can go underwater seems like it'll add strategy while at the same time bring something new to this serie. Not to mention the online seems pretty robust with plenty of modes, customizations...etc And this is 60fps even in 3D right?
This could actually end up better than I thought it would.
[QUOTE="sanim02"]oh **** they might just do thatThey should give it a 7, since it's called Mario Kart 7.:P Hey, they did it with Mario Kart 6.4!

Koopa Troopa (He's always been my main) and Wiggler looks pretty cool too.
[QUOTE="sammyjenkis898"]I'm going to laugh if this flops. Super Mario 3D Land, Skyward Sword, and this? So much ammunition! Shinobishyguyyou really have an axe to grind when it comes to nintendo don't you :|
Yeah, speaking of which Mario 3D land is definitely better than Sonic Generations, and deserves better than an 8.0. Not only that, but Return to Dreamland is MUCH better than a 7.5. I really do think Gamespot may have a bias against Nintendo games, and it wouldn't surprise me if MK7 scored below 8.5.
No, but the mechanics do. So much better than MK it isn't even funny, especially considering how many iterations of MK there are.Pug-Nasty"It's better because there are less games in the series." Fantastic reasoning.

Tell me something seriously... Why you all ( most even ) wii fans want EVERY single hyped or well known Nintendo first party title ( mario/zelda etc etc ) be 9.0++... Do you know how many sonics in the past scored BAD. So what , was Gamespots biased towards SEGA?...Come on.. Ratchet and Clank scored 7.5 also so what? As long as you gimme solid reasons why you think so im all right with that... If you are not , go IGN... the i score everything 10 site and be happy about.[QUOTE="Pug-Nasty"]No, but the mechanics do. Why would you put that in quotes when that isn't what I said? It isn't even a reasonable interpretationg of the words I used.
What I said is that the mechanics are better than MK, and that is less funny because Nintendo has made enough MKs that they should have improved it enough so that the first ModNation games didn't trump it, but they didn't.
My reasoning is that MR is better than MK, and that is what I said, so, yes, it is fantastic reasoning.

Honestly thats horrible reasoning, your reasoning is and I quote "My reasoning is that MR is better than MK, and that is what I said, so, yes, it is fantastic reasoning.", you didn't even give 2 reasons why it's better. And honestly I think they are both great but I would rather play a game with ym favorite Mario characters than a game where I make the characterShyguy all day erry daySo what characters are you guys planning to play alot or have as mains? My reasoning is that MR is better than MK, and that is what I said, so, yes, it is fantastic reasoning.Pug-Nasty:lol: "I think the game is better, so it is better. So there!" You directly stated that you *think* MK is worse because there are more games in the series. How did I twist what you said, when you said exactly that? "The mechanics." What about them? Like I previously asked, the track editor? Is that what makes it better? Because I only ever see "the level editor" from people who claim LittleBigPlanet is better than Mario Galaxy (ironically, two entirely different genres... the least they could do is pick NSMBW). What else other than "I think it is a better game" and "the mechanics" makes you think Modnation Racers is a better game than the second-most high-quality, and consistent arcade racer in the history of gaming (behind Nintendo's own F-Zero)?
So I was getting a bit excited about this game after seeing a video showing 1st person view which looked pretty nice, however I'm hearing now that the only method of controlling in that mode is ....gyroscope!? So you can't control normally in that view? What a load of ****!

That isn't what I said. I said that MR has better mechanics than MK, and that was made worse by the fact that there have been so many MKs, meaning that they should have improved the gameplay by now.
How you twisted that into MK is worse because it has more games is beyond me.
MR has better racing mechanics than MK, and that's why it's better.
As for racing with your favorite characters, all the Nintendo characters have been reproduced, and quite nicely, in MR.

This game won't meet critical acclaim, at least at first. I don't remember what Mario Kart DS scored, but that game is a perfect ten. The only thing that bogged it down were the cheaters online. The depth added to the racing--snaking--was just excellent.

I'm being completely honest here. The blue shells did NOT bother me with MKDS. The game was made for all ages. I got pretty good at that game and when I was paired with beginners I would lap them during the race--the blue shell made no difference. When I got paired with more advanced players that use the snaking technique, races would be so close that even using the shell was risky in that you'd often end up hitting yourself, as well.
I do think it is unnecessary.
[QUOTE="Heirren"]automatic 2 point deduction for having those pesky cheap blue shells in itWell in Mario Kart 7 they are fixing that. It was cheap when they were in the air and couldn't be dodged but now that they are on the ground they can also take out people that aren't in first place, hit into obstacles, and be dodged like they were in Mario Kart 64.

Is it so hard to base winning on skill and not luck? The chaos in Mario Kart is partly what makes it fun IMO. But it doesn't need to be as chaotic as Mk Wii. MKDS had the perfect balance between skill and luck IMO, but was balanced in the wrong way (snaking). Hopefully MK7 can fill everyone's desires, and strike the perfect balance so that everyone is satisfied.Bread_or_Decide

Not expecting anything big. Just another kart racing game with some new features.g0ddyX
