All Nintendo has to do is expand on the original Mario Kart DS formula.
Add a few more extras, better courses, more VS modes, more maps, better online (somewhat)and I see this getting AAA.
I think there are more hurdles than that. Back in 2005, there was no "Nintendo tax" on scores. It will have to blow everyone for AAA. Which is a shame, because everyone who buys it will know it's an AAA quality game. All Nintendo has to do is expand on the original Mario Kart DS formula.

And it will be polished. I actually like that I don't need sequel after sequel after sequel. I can't begin to even think about the amount of hours sunk into that MKDS cart.
Back in 2005, there was no "Nintendo tax" on scores.EponiqueOh please. There is still no "Nintendo tax". Where was the "Nintendo tax" on SMG 2 when it got a 10?

The game was just that good. There is a negativity surrounding the wii. It goes like this, "why teh f**k am still playing on GC." Yes, I think reviewers have that thought run through their heads.

What was the last game that got scored lower than it deserved simply for being on the Wii or the DS?
I can't think of one.

I know of one, it happened very recently ;) :PThe hype was both AAE and AAAE a little while ago :PAAAE and AAE hype are close in the poll.I don't think the flop reactionwould be as bad as Skyward Sword since the poll results are close.

Someone should spam the poll to make sure both AAE and AAAE hypeare met when the game gets reviewed by GS.

And what if it only gets A? :oMario Kart DS is my favourite in the series and apart from graphics I'm not sure what else they could do with it anymore, other than do another Double Dash kinda thing. However I really hate seeing games lose points for being too much like their predecessors, if it's a great game then let it be so.tomarlynThis is one of the rare moments where I find myself agreeing with you. Very well said.

There are plenty of reviewers that simply dislike the Wii for various reasons (not HD, motion controls, plain dislike). If a game like 3D Land came out on the Vita, it would get a 9 and be applauded for creativity and originality. But since it's on a Nintendo system it's a rehash, and "could've been so much better". Nintendo tax is everywhere: look at how the best Nintendo system games get 7.5 and 8.0s across the board, while all you need for an AAA on an HD console is a good marketing budget.

I just bought a wii within the last month, so I'm sort of behind as far as "this scored this and that scored that." However, upon just buying one I went back and watched a lot of reviews on numerous sites in hopes of getting a list of games together to buy. What I've noticed is that there is a general tone in a lot of the reviews that screams of, "...yeeeaaaahhhhh:?, the game is really really good, BUT it would be so much better if it were on better hardware." That is not a professional way to come at a game when it is your job to review objectionally for a consumer.

I know there are reviewers who are biased against the Wii. As far as I've seen they don't work here.
And like I said I can't think of one game that was rated "low" by GS for no reason other than being on Nintendo's system, including 3D Land. Perhaps 3D Land was underrated. I wouldn't know. But there are quite a few explanations for that that don't involve some sort of irrational vendetta against Nintendo on the reviewer's part.
People always call bias when they see a score they don't like, but it's nothing but paranoia unless there's something to back it up.

Yes I agree, the epicness of flopness ;o) Double the flop. Or hit! Or whatever! Double the own age either way!I forgot to ask !!!
Are we going by the GS score this time, or the Metacritic if it is a flop ?
If it meets its hype here, but FLOPS on IGN can I use that as a valid arguement, as has been done with Zelda SS getting a 10 on IGN.
If it flops here, but gets a great score on IGN, is IGN still a joke ! as many has stated on SW !

The rules in System Wars are that you can only bring in Metacritic when it favors your side of the argument.

Haha , exactly exactly, exactly ! and I will bring in Metacritic whenever it favors my side of the argument, ( which will be always :D )( gotta love the unwritten rules and I will always quote this unwritten rule:)
Not if it scores in the 7 range.AAA only has three more votes than AA.
Just a few more votes and this might just avoid flopping
Shinobishyguy
I am quite positive that the Sheep are actually hyping this AA, but everyone else is clicking the AAA button for the sake of amusement. :Pillmatic87You know what would be funny? If the game actually scores AAAE (which isn't improbable at all). That'll own all the haters in one stroke :P
[QUOTE="illmatic87"]I am quite positive that the Sheep are actually hyping this AA, but everyone else is clicking the AAA button for the sake of amusement. :PGiancaryeah, someone please count the votes post by post... It's impossible, due to the structure of the hype thread, people weren't required to post what they had voted for :( I should have had the foresight. Then again, I never thought Zelda would flop as badly as it did
I'm guessing 7.0I predict 7.5, its a good score for another rehashed game with no innovation
When are nintendo gonna make new great ip...
They already milked Zelda and Mario to dead

It looks like a good improvement compared to the last Mario Kart handheld game.

Or the Wario ware wii review? Or heck the SMG2 review? the first two were reviewed a long as time ago. As for SMG2, that's was a special case. It's one of those games that you just can't hate without sounding like the grinch.\
It seems like every other nintendo game that doesn't have the words "mario" and "galaxy' together in the title get's A or AA at best.
