[QUOTE="NotThat_basic"][QUOTE="Puckhog04"][QUOTE="NotThat_basic"]Yes - and the novelty of a stylus is what's selling the DS... ...just wait till that has worn off... ...whenever THAT might be is anyone's guess! :lol:The GCN was certainly not leading all consoles 4 months after launch - and you can take THAT to the bank.

It's just an opinion...
I'm sorry if you disagree with it. GC was selling very well when it was released and did for the next few months. Maybe it didn't outsell the others but it was competing against the PS2...i mean, seriously. The games clearly aren't selling the Wii though...and you can take THAT to the bank. :|
My point is that the new way that Nintendo has found to play on a console is what is selling the console, not the games (which are very lacking at this point). IMO the Controller is kind of a gimmick, just as the tilt on the PS3's controller is a gimmick. If anything, the Wiimote is very well done and should be seen as much better than the PS3's for obvious reasons. I'm not stating the novelty will for sure wear off...but it's still a possibility that it does. I'm sorry you disagree and have to react the way you did.
And I'm sorry you took my reaction to indicate I was picking on you - but it's the same sorry tale I've heard a million times on this forum and so, I took a moment to address that. Is that alright that I disagree with your logic? Isn't that why we're all here in the first place?
The GCN was 3rd right out of the starting gate - I think in December of that year is managed to outsell the XBox by a a few thousand, but it then was relegated back to 3rd position from that point forward. There is no way, on God's green earth, that you can try and compare the two launches - it's ludicrous. It couldn't even outsell the higher priced XBox which was MS's first attempt at a videogame console!!!
The Wiimote is selling the system, this is obvious. But it is, in fact, GAMES that are also selling the system. What - do you think people buy their new system to park it under the TV and stare at the pretty blue light that comes on when it powers up??? And regardless on your opinion of the games - I happen to like many of the ones I've played so far. So, I guess that means I disagree with Jeff as well - shall we fight about that too?
In YOUR opinion, the Wiimote is a gimmick - and I happen to disagree. I offered the DS as proof that just because you THINK it's a gimmick, doesn't mean everyone agrees with you (myself, being one of them). Try not to be so defensive - this is a debate forum - expect people to want to debate with you... ...sometimes with the use of sarcasm! ;)
I was debating with you and i didn't think you were picking on me...(seriously, what is this? 8th grade?)
I just think that the primary reason for buying a Wii is to play Nintendo's new way of playing these games. Whether or not the games are good is a completely different story. The games that would be considered good are games that work very well with the Wiimote (notice how Zelda isn't really selling all that well...). This supports my theory even further. I do think the Wiimote is a sort of a gimmick in that Nintendo used it as a lure for younger players to get excited about it. Although it's used relatively well in most of the Wii's games, it's used horribly in some (Splinter Cell DA, Farcry, Red Steel, etc.). I do think the price point has a relevancy here as well. It'll be interesting to see if the Wii or the Xbox 360 sells more when/if the Core version of the 360 is scrapped and the Premium is then the $300 Xbox 360. While the scenario i just mentioned would put to rest the price argument, the Wiimote is still there. Whether it's a fad or novelty item to the public is yet to be seen. I don't presume to know the future simply based on the success of a handheld though.
Zelda isn't selling well? It has sold 3 million copies worldwide. It was in the top 10 software sales last month. 3 million copies is literally half the user base who have the Wii. Seriously, you don't know what you are talking about.
