The ps3 is overhyped around here

I've come to this conclusion all by myself lol. What is so great about the ps3's exclusive games? It's overpriced. Uncharted, GOW all look pretty but are nothing revolutionary and aren't going to sell consoles. They've lost Final Fantasy as well as MG at this point. I can play gears on the 360 which is just as good as uncharted. Halo is just as good as killzone and more fun. Yay Ratchet. Mass Effect, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, Forza. Heavy Rain is overhyped and lacks gameplay elements and is another showpiece of a game that doesnt do anything that interesting. MAG another shooter that just jams mroe people running around not knwoing what they are doing into a game that isn't going to work. There really is nothing on the ps3 that is saying to me this is a game i have to have this console for. So i'm supposed to pay $400 for Uncharted which never was that good game to begin with, and GOW?

I agree the 360 is nothing great either, but it does what i need it to. That's all i ask. It has a bigger library and better games imo. That's just my opinion. I'd rather be playing mass effect vs anything on the ps3. Alan Wake even looks more interesting to me.

There are A LOT of sony fans here. Every poll always goes towards PS3 while other sites like IGN and 1up always go to the 360.

Personally , I think it's nowhere near the glory as it's predecessor, but all in all it's an amazing console. some people overyhype tit tho. And, some people overhype the 360, butnot nearly as many during the past 2 years on SW

When Sony was pumping out videos like this; of course it is over hyped.

I can safely say with confidence most PS3 users have unrealistic expectations of the PS3s capability, most of which have probably forgotten how over hyped it was though.

Are you really surprised the PS3 is overhyped? It's finally coming out with a great line up of games and for it's price offers more features out of any of the consoles. Do you how much hate the PS3 still got one year after its launch? There were sooooo many fanboys from the Xbox 360's hgue fanbase that kept saying, "the PS3 has no games, it's too expensive, etc." when clearly, the big developers were still at work on what would be AAA games. Now, Sony is pumping them out and Sony fanboys can crawl out of the cave after all this BS about how the PS3 has no games. So really, are you surprised at the overhype ove the PS3. This overhype doesn't even match the amount of hate the PS3 got 2006-2007, lol...

Well when you have fanboys you have overhype. I do however like the PS3 more then other two.

Sure its overhyped if you listen to a bunch of crazed fanboys. Its an excellent machine with an awesome line up of exclusives. Its the best in my opinion, but its not like its going to change the gaming world or anything. Its just a good console. So are the others. I must say though.... People forget it wasn't fanboys saying PS3 was a 2TFLOP super computer that ran all games at 1080p and beyond, it was Sony with their presentations and tech demos.

The PS3 was monstrously over hyped, although the fanboys did play their part in spreading this misinformation the source was Sony.

Even today Sony is still over hyping PS3's capability. What was one of the first things they said at the recent Sony conference? Mentioning the giant screen behind them and that only PS3 could push the resolution to take advantage of it :roll:

I honestly dont see hte ps3 selling and suddenly making this jump where the average person is going to care about uncharted or gow or even know what those games are. They are going to see $300 for the 360 and $400 for the ps3. They dont even care that the online is free. They can get a wii for $250 or an arcade for $200. I dont th ink the ps3 is justifying it's pricetag at all to the average person. There is nothing on the system where the average person is going to be like i have to have that. Sony is losing this war badly and it's a flop.

I agree to an extent. I think a lot of PS3 fans here overhype games on the PS3. More often than not the games they hype sell poorly or just ok compared to the hype they get. I think every good PS3 exclusive has a better 360 counter-part (i.e. Halo3 > Killzone 2, Gears > Uncharted, etc...) You can say I'm wrong but the majority of people on earth who buy games agree with me. You can say sales don't make a good game, and while that may be true, most 360 exclusives have awesome review scores as well.ArchaoN

It's been getting AAAEs every third month since AAAAE GOTY MGS4. If anything, it's underhyped considering it's sales and all the crap it gets from the lems. If anything it's a breath of fresh air that people have actually stopped bashing it as much and are actually enjoying the console.

I beat MGS4 8 days ago. 6 days ago my PS3 was put on ebay. Not a bad system at all, just way over priced. I JUST WANT TO PLAY GAMES.

Sony takes the cake, there is marketing and then there is saying your £280 console is a super computer.

In the 2005 conference Sony claimed their console could do 2560x720 by sticking two 720p screens next to each other and having the game image span across them. They claimed they could have hundreds of thousands of physics objects; all of which have their own unique surround sound channel. They claimed you could take the art assets from pre rendered characters in movies and run them as real time characters on the PS3.

There is hype and then there is PS3 marketing.

This thread isn't about Sony overhyping and lies on the abilities on the PS3 back in 2005-2006 so I don't know why people are talking about that. They did that crap like 3 years ago. Sure Jack Tretton still says "only on the PS3, blah blah blah", but at they are dishing out some games doing things that you don't often see on consoles.
