This is a huge joke that Smash Brothers is winning.
Look, I'm a Smash Bros fan and I own a Wii and plan on buying it, it looks amazing no doubt about it. But Halo 3 absolutely ravages it in replay value.

Take a look:

Saved Films - Will be used for fan-made films, montages, and just for screwing around and bragging rights. These will still be popular in 3 years from now.

The Forge - will inspire so many diverse fan-made gametypes. Remember Halo 2 with Zombies, Cat and Mouse, Hide and Seek, etc.? This will take that to a whole new level.

Online Interface - everything has returned that made Halo 2 so addicting such as the stat tracking, party system, ranking system, medals, etc.

Unlockable content - the skulls and different armour types keep the game more refreshing to keep playing.

4 Player Online Co-op - pretty much the best mode of co-op you can ask for, and even includes the skulls that modify the gaming experience. Hell, you can even play against your friends in co-op! Amazing!

Achievements - yes they do boost replay value for many people. I can see why some people hate them, but the vast majority seem to love them.

The game is just more diverse than Smash Brothers in terms of replay value. Its a no contest, especially with the lack of voice support with Smash Bros.

i can't believe how many people are putting SSBB. there is absolutely no way anyone who's knowledgeable about these two games would say you get more for your money with SSBB. replayability is mainly an opinion but for features and game modes halo 3 wins by a landslide.

don't get me wrong, i'll be getting SSBB the day it comes out but come on, $10 cannot make up for all the things halo 3 has that SSBB doesn't, including excellent online.

sexy_chimp

Brawl isn't even out yet. So you can't possibly say that.

Brawl DOES have a lot of features, and there are more to be announced.

Online
Long Single Player which has to be beaten with every character and on different difficulties
Co-op play in single player
More online modes that aren't announced but were confirmed
Special matches
Different types of matches (Stock, Time)
Customizable music
Trophies
Stickers
Tournaments
Unlockable characters

do you own halo 3? if you did i couldn't see you arguing with me.

I'm confused as to why people are voting SSBB. It has a single player (probably 2 versions like the last one) online and offline multiplayer with some customization, and a lot of collectables that don't really do anything. I guess it's because of the number of character, and the mini-games.

With Halo you have the Campaign (which will most likely be longer than Brawls and can be played with 4 people), competetive online matches, custom matches with huge amounts of options (go check out the game rocket race it's insane), forge which is like custom matches but with tons of more variable and theater which can be great to watch when you're bored or waiting for friends to get on.

The point is with Brawl you get the single player and multiplayer that will be awesome but then just a lot of stuff that really doesn't add much to the game, while with Halo 3 all of the new things feel like meaningful additions.

Let's wait until SSBB comes out... judging by SSBM, though, both games will have great bang for your buck.

With Halo 3, I would finish SP in 10 hours then what, Online MPis overrated. Overpriced at $60

With SSBB, I would play it for years trying to unlock billions of things, never get sick of having Mario vs. Sonic matches (if Sonic is in), and they added Online just as a bonus. I would gladly pay $100 for this game, but Nintendo is toogenerouspricing it $50 for all the massive content it has.

SSBB destroys Halo. SSBB is giving you enormous bang for your buck.

Well let's see, me and my bros played each of the Halo's regularly for about two years, and we've played SSBM for pretty much all six years its been out, with online, more modes, more customization, online, and the good old smash replay value I'm going to go with SSBB

I can only base ssb on the previous installments and H3 has more features packed in. Combined downloadable content for it, tournaments and so on, the sort of online support that hasn't been seen on the wii yet (and shows no sign of being shown as of right now.) and I'd have to go with Halo 3.

More maps, future updates, more variety and it has a campaign..the older SSB just had fighting against NPC or with friends. Yeah..Halo is clearly the one that's worth the money, just because it has more packed into it. o.0

As for which gets more play time, well that's a matter of opinion.

This is a freaking joke. The poll isn't asking which game you like the best. It's asking which has the most value, and the answer is clearly Halo 3. It has Forge, saved films, 4 player co-op, incredible stat tracking, and the best matchmaking system in any game, ever. The only significant thing about SSB online is that it's SSB online. That's it. You may like the series better, but calling Brawl a more complete game is a bald-faced lie.

no its way more fun than all fighting games cuz it takes little knowledge of the game is almost a pure skill and reactiongame.

that being said, it ain't halo 3.

Gamer556

how is the main battle in multiplayer at all? That is not the only way you can re-play the game. There are 30+ characters in Brawl, each with their own story that overlaps with all the others. Every time you play a new story you unlock new stages, characters, modes, and more. Super Smash Bros. Melee had 4+ single player modes. Adventure, Classic, Event, and All-Star. Each was cool and added to the replayability of the game. This time around there is an actual story which adds significantly to the single player and the replayibility. Add an online mode, co-op, and an addictive non-splitscreen multiplayer mode and much more that will be announced in the months to come?

It's a close race...

Trophies, Event Mode, Break the Targets, Home Run Contest, 2-player Co-op, Unlockable characters andstages, all the special modes from Melee (Big Melee, Small Melee, Invisible Melee, Fast and Slow Melee, Stamina Mode) can now be mixed together, you can set which items are on and what are the chances of them showing up, andStickers. Well it seems that the question here is which game has more features and that answer is simply halo 3. however this has obviously turned into a wii vs 360 poll and add in the cows and hermits who hate halo3 for whatever reason and this is the result... true halo fans standing on there own against the rest of the gaming community here at gs.

But cmon.. its a no brainer which has more features...

Halo 3 easily. Listen I've had a Wii since it came out and honestly friend codes suck compared to live. Plus it has a real single player story. Im not saying SSBB is gonna be bad. Believe me I'm gonna buy it the moment it comes out but I just dont think in the end it will have the replay value as Halo 3.

Nope but ive read what is included. Just take a look at the online community for halo 2 the last 3 years and the kinds of play time halo 3 is already racking up. dont get me wrong i loved playing melee with my cousin but it certainly seems the online in brawl wont be anything near halo 3's and no user created game types like those you can find in halo 3. just looks like its a "well i like ssb better then halo so ill choose that" kind of thing going on here

They haven't announced everything that's included. Also, the door swings both ways. I'm sure all the Halo fanboys are immediately voting for Halo just like the Smash Brothers fanboys are immediately voting for Smash Brothers.

this thread is stupid.

its just filled with lemming, halo fanboys who don't know a thing about smash bros.

now with brawl, it has a fleshed out sidescrolling single player story mode complete with cutscenes for every one of the 40+ characters (you can also play it in co op), online, tourneys, trophies return (most likely in a larger quantity) stickers (a new collectable content) event matches (50+ incredibly hard challenges that will piss you off) twice the number of characters, new gameplay elements and tightened gameplay to make it even more fun, unlockable music+stages, and if you have friends to play with this game will last forever.

theres just so muchunlockable content. we dont even know everything about the game yet, so you bet your ass theres gonna be ALOT more to be added to this already huge list of features.

EDIT: forgot to say that matches are completely customisable, that helps replayability too.

Different genres. However, if one was to be apathetic of genre, I'd have to go for SSBB. Both have lots of different game modes with very in-depth customisability, but SSBB also has TONS of unlockables, giving much more reason to replay the single-player. The online is free (though its quality is yet to be seen), and the game itself is cheaper too. Also, I find I'm able to drag more people into a game of Smash Bros. than Halo, but that's just me.Jagazaar
If those unlockables are anything like SSBM, they're completely worthless/unrewarding with the exception of character unlockables.

YD_11

Many people, inclluding myself, still play Melee A LOT! There is no way to determine based on online play because Melee never had online and still is played like CRAZY.

Wow, you are an incredibly biased person who completely blow any and everything out of proportion. Half of what you said is extreme exaggeration.

Coming from someone who still plays Smash, i've never seen a more biased post about the game in comparison to any other. grats.

I can't imagine SSBB's single player game being of any substantial length. The real battle here is in online multiplayer, which Halo 3 wins by a mile.

kansasdude2009

how is the main battle in multiplayer at all?

Every fighting game has a lot of characters and unlockables, most of which aren't compelling enough to get anyways. And you're really reaching for straws with the whole story thing. In the end SSBB is a fighting game, and as a result single player game length is exceptionally short. As with most fighters, SSBB is a multiplayer game first. As a multiplayer game it'sprimitive in designand doesn't come close to Halo 3 in features and replayability.

you didn't like getting the new stages, game modes, and music? The trophies were throw-aways, I admit... but even I collected a ton of them (what was it, like 270?)!

SSBB because its 10$ cheaper, tons of new modes, 6 lvls of difficulty in adventure mode each with special rewards+co-op, online, a lot of new characters to play and master. and who doesnt love smash? halo on the other hand, has all this things except for the difficulty and characters. i voted SSBB because of price tag.

I played through Clasic, Adventure Mode, All-Star mode with all the characters in the game just to get their trophies.

There's NO WAY you've every played a smash bros game after that comment.

Each character is COMPLETELY different (Other than some clones in Melee) so its extremely awarding to unlock them.

I currently have 217 of i believe 225. im not sure.

the stages and characters we the only good things, and those can be unlocked within 10 hours of gameplay. (dont bring up mewtwo, only an idiot doesnt know how to get him).

Everything else is a side show. then again, this is all from a person who plays smash for its competitive nature, and not the 4 v 4 party fighter it is.
