[QUOTE="Gamer556"][QUOTE="kansasdude2009"][QUOTE="Gamer556"]I can't imagine SSBB's single player game being of any substantial length. The real battle here is in online multiplayer, which Halo 3 wins by a mile.

how is the main battle in multiplayer at all? That is not the only way you can re-play the game. There are 30+ characters in Brawl, each with their own story that overlaps with all the others. Every time you play a new story you unlock new stages, characters, modes, and more. Super Smash Bros. Melee had 4+ single player modes. Adventure, Classic, Event, and All-Star. Each was cool and added to the replayability of the game. This time around there is an actual story which adds significantly to the single player and the replayibility. Add an online mode, co-op, and an addictive non-splitscreen multiplayer mode and much more that will be announced in the months to come?
It's a close race...
Every fighting game has a lot of characters and unlockables, most of which aren't compelling enough to get anyways. And you're really reaching for straws with the whole story thing. In the end SSBB is a fighting game, and as a result single player game length is exceptionally short. As with most fighters, SSBB is a multiplayer game first. As a multiplayer game it'sprimitive in designand doesn't come close to Halo 3 in features and replayability.
There's NO WAY you've every played a smash bros game after that comment.
Each character is COMPLETELY different (Other than some clones in Melee) so its extremely awarding to unlock them.
Yes, I've played a SB game before. I was referring more to the unlockable trinkets rather than the characters, which are essential to a fighting game. You just can't bring up basic unlockables in the face of such features as Forge and Theatre. It's ridiculous.

the single player is a joke.i dont care how 'fleshed out" they make brawl's, CPU intelligence is pathetic, and seeing as how the wii isnt much more powerful than a cube, i dont see it getting much better.
Yes, the single player inSsbmis a joke. But the trophies were enough for me to play through it.

primitive in design? Halo is a very BASIC FPS that apeals to all the mindless alike. I own a 360, and Halo 3... and I am really dissapointed in it. Perhaps I was hoping for somthing more innovative, but I just got more of the same. I have grown tired of Halo and it's multiplayer. I am messing around with some stuff, but to me, and SEVERAL OTHERS, Smash Bros has way more re-playilility as we are still playing it.

The sheer amount of trophies added alot to the replay value of Melee.

So what you're saying is, Halo 3 is not a more feature rich game because Brawl got more votes in the poll? This isn't my attempt to claim Halo as the best thing ever. All I'm saying is that Halo 3 clearly has more value to it than Brawl, and the poll should reflect that.
I was calling the online primitive, not the core gameplay. The online system they have for Brawl is very basic and is missing a lot of key features, including voice chat.

Gamer556
we have not heard everything about Brawl's online as the site said "we have several other features to make online as enjoyable as possible". But as another person said - "replayibility is subjective"
What makes Smash so much fun (and the reason why I still play it), is that you can play it on 1 screen, not use split screen, and have a ton of fun with 3 other people. Not many fighters do that, and everyone knows split screen isn't nearly as fun as having a full screen. That is why you have online in the first place really.
And again... multiplayer is not the only thing that adds "bang for your buck". I played Melee more than Halo and Halo 2 combined (and I played the HECK out of Halo:CE).
Also, don't forget that smashbros.com has over a month to release new modes, features, unlockables, and more.
As I said in the beginning... its a very close race.
I've never played more than 15 hours of halo. Conversely, i've clocked over 700 hours of smash and still play it daily....I don't need an argument to support my opinion. Even if I did make an argument, you would just ignore it because your opinion differs. (Which you have been doing this entire time)

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you.
Not only has the Halo community deteriorated over the last 4 years (all I hear anymore are blabbing 2 year olds, or guys that swear every time they take a breath... or just whining), but the gameplay of Halo 3 has not changed significantly since Halo:CE (the best Halo game imo). Every character in Brawl gives different gameplay stratagies making for a game with limitless possibilities. Brawl has just as much replay value as Halo 3 has. More infact imo.
It's also not just Nintendo characters that make cameos any more.

Once again, your assuming things. You haven't played SSBB and there are still 50+ updates to be revealed. Lots of polls are subjective. Now we have the consensus that Smash brothers is more replayable than Halo according to most people.

It's also not just Nintendo characters that make cameos any more.
the ironic thing is that ssb gameplay has not evolved as much as halo's has, but w/e.I didn't even see this thread and I made one very similar in favor of Brawl.
So Brawl.
To people who put SSBB, you are foolish sheep. Halo 3 is better value even if its not as good. You are fanboys through and through i hope your wii's brake and your ds's get sat on by a fat chick.hongkingkong
Jesus, calm down. It's all a matter of taste. Personally, I'll play SSBB a lot longer than I'll play Halo 3. I'll probably listen to the music more than I play Halo 3. I LOVE TEH MUSIC! :)
[QUOTE="Gamer556"]If Nintendo can't even incorporate voice chat, why should anyone assume Brawl will have incredible online functionality? It almost certainly will not.

Despite your ignorance, online isn't everything. Melee is still played as much as Halo 2 if not more even though it doesn't have online. Even without any type of online at all, this game still has tons of replayability.
That is a straight up lie. There is no way more people are playing splitscreen Melee right now as there are people playing Halo 2 online right now.

Tell that to MLG, Evo, and Smash Boards.
[QUOTE="kansasdude2009"][QUOTE="Gamer556"]This is a freaking joke. The poll isn't asking which game you like the best. It's asking which has the most value, and the answer is clearly Halo 3. It has Forge, saved films, 4 player co-op, incredible stat tracking, and the best matchmaking system in any game, ever. The only significant thing about SSB online is that it's SSB online. That's it. You may like the series better, but calling Brawl a more complete game is a bald-faced lie.Gamer556
SSB has more than 6 hours for single player... :|
not to mention I haven't gotten an upgrade in the smash series in 6 years... Halo on the other hand...
I can't imagine SSBB's single player game being of any substantial length. The real battle here is in online multiplayer, which Halo 3 wins by a mile.
Funny considering the singleplayer in Brawl is supposed to be over an hour for just one character, plus there is co-op and possibly even online co-op in the adventure mode which would also be a big addition.

Too bad Melee isn't even split screen. Thank you for proving that you've never played it.

Please be so kind as to explain how the hell there is any way of possibly knowing that.
