Yup right about now looking at my friends list seeing everyone playing Smash makes me regret not going digital haha. Oh well a few more hours for me.

@charizard1605: Have you tried greninja? I've read he plays very similar to Sheik.

I'm not sure if anybody else can add their experiences but every time I've played online against Samus (Not ZSS) the match has been really laggy. The second match this happened in I had been playing with the guy for at least 8 matches then when he suddenly plays as Samus the match starts playing like a slide show. Not to mention the game immediately got better whenever I knocked her off stage.

Also to throw it out there my current favorite is Little Mac, runner up is Greninja. Worst "New" character is Rosalina I think I need to give her another shot, but she felt really underwhelming.

@Technoweirdo: Wait is that actually confirmed? Seems way too early to confirm if a trophy is in there. She was in the images sent to the ESRB.

@Kaze_no_Mirai: Nope, so far I've tried Pikachu, Link, Mario, Villager, Mega-Man, Charizard, and Mii Fighter. They're all surprisingly good so far. I have also unlocked Ness.

However, the game is harder on the 3DS than it is with a GCN controller. I haven't gone online yet (every time I try to connect, it boots me to the main screen, I imagine Nintendo's servers are swamped right now), but the CPUs are pretty rough on me.

Still though, having fun. Gonna try Smash Run next.

Just got the game. I've yet to try it, since I'm at work right now, but I might squeeze some Smash in there when my boss isn't looking. :P I believe me and some friends will have a Smash party later today..

Decided to get it on the eShop upon realizing I'd be getting the game a full 3 hours earlier than I would have from retail. I still need to unlock Game and Watch, Bowser Jr., Jigglypuff, and Duck Hunt Dog, but I can say with confidence this game is so good. I think I've tried most characters. For Glory worked really well for me, although it's dependent on your connection and that of the other player's; got no noticeable lag with some players, and a little bit with others. Local group play is as responsive as playing Smash on a couch.

And a lot of people online seem to really like playing Little Mac.

@princeofshapeir: When I tried playing online (1v1v1v1, For Fun), it was a lagging mess. At first, it was just a (still very noticeable) half a second input delay, and then it became a full on lagfest, as bad as Brawl. My assumption is that Nintendo's servers were being hammered (this was right after launch) and that it won't be as bad now, or a day from now at worst. Because if it is, then the online here is Brawl level bad.

The single player and local multi are absolutely amazing so far though.

EDIT: for my favorite character, imma go with Charizard. Dude is borderline OP.

Well, it was getting pretty close to release last night (eshop) when I suddenly realized I still had my 2 GB SD card from my original 3DS in my XL and really didn't have enough space. So after frantically driving to the nearest Walmart to purchase a 32 GB SD card and an SD card reader, I transferred everything over to the new card and began downloading the game.

Started hurting my hand, then I changed the controls which really helped. It had to do with the placement of the Smash attack button, "A", being so far on the outer edge. I use it so much that it kept hurting my thumb. Switching the Specials to Y and the Smash attacks to B feels a lot more natural, keep fudging things up because I got used to the demo. It has definitely helped though.

And the game itself? Runs beautifully. Still haven't tried online yet, but it's so good. I've tried most of the new characters that are available right away except for Lil Mac and I didn't like Greninja as much as I was hoping to, Shulk was surprising in how much I liked playing with him, and Rosalina and Wiif Fit Trainer were both solid characters that fit my playstyle. It's great and I can't wait to play more.

Checking a thread on SmashBoards:

Trophy count in the ESRB leak: 686.
Final JP trophy count: 685. Tharja nowhere to be seen.

Considering Candy Kong, Pauline, and Barbara's trophies, I find this especially odd. Then you could argue ZSS and one of her alt costumes who's a playable character. Maybe they decided to make her a DLC character at the last second and removed her thusly since giving out a trophy of a character before you unlock them is weird. Otherwise, ugh.

SO GOOD. I love Sm4sh.

Getting my copy later today. So excited for this getting ready for the main course in November!

Been playing nonstop for the past two hours, and boy if I don't feel silly for being so worried about this game. It's everything I'd want from a portable Smash Bros. The controls are smooth once you realize you can't button-mash like you would a standard controller (playing the demo definitely prepared me for that), and while I can see how the small screen could make four-player matches hectic, I think most people are honestly forgetting how hectic they were to begin with.

In terms of characters, I'm interested in exploring Shulk and Robin more, and Rosalina has potential (but is a little weak). Samus, meanwhile, has been beautifully balanced in this iteration, and I'm digging Zelda's new down-B.

Oh, and can someone tell me if the Link costume with the facial markings is supposed to be channeling his Fierce Deity form? Because my fanboy self about cried from joy when I saw that as a costume option.

Shame on GameSpot for not just giving this a 9. Most of its "problems" are in the eye of the beholder. It's otherwise a remarkably well-polished game. You can tell how much time went into making it.

@LegatoSkyheart: I don't think Smash will hit "flop" status until the Wii U reviews come in. There's nothing to compare Smash 3DS to, because it's the only Smash game for a portable. (And these forum hype threads are ridiculously juvenile and non-scientific, so I'm ignoring that.) If Smash Wii U gets less than AAA, though, then we're in flop territory ...

Aliens Flopped much, much harder, and is a major AAA console/PC release. Therefore, much more fun to talk about its floppage.

just beat someone's ass with toon link. This game is great

played like 10 games online. the first five were great...then some guy named hiroshi joined...turned into lag city.

Seems like they really opened up the timing window on side smashes from the Demo.

In the Demo I was having trouble with Side Smashes usually doing a tilt attack instead. No such problem with the full game. Good fix

I've officially seen the face of hell. I played against a Toon Link online and he absolutely destroyed me. I tried every character I've played but he smashed be every time...

...

I've played two For Glory matches. Lost both. Got 2kos and got ko'd once the first one with Toon Link. Second one got 4 ko's with Lucina and didn't get ko'd but my partner went down five times with no knockouts. :/ I guess I'll try one on one next.

Also, Little Mac is overpowered. Dude is crazy strong. Good thing his recovery is terrible.

*sigh* Online mode is flawless now. Guess my circle pad will be completely destroyed by next week...

So far I'd say my top three favorite characters are Captain Falcon, Lucina, and Little Mac.

Pretty surprised at that since prelaunch I thought I'd fall in love with Greninja but I just don't like him very much.

I wouldn't say he's overpowered. It's a little bullshit how he gets super armor on so many moves, particularly neutral B (before KO punch is filled up). But his aerials are basically useless and his recovery might be the worst in the game. If you get him offstage he's done.

I guess you don't like fun

Also Jigglypuff is pretty godlike in this game, Rest is so much easier to land, KOs at lower percents, and sends opponents straight up. Definitely my 2nd main

Toe to Toe yeah, as a Boxer should be. But his weaknesses are pretty exploitable. He has no air game and no recovery. Get him up in the air and he's done.

Got the game and so far it's great. So far my issues are that it can hurt your hand after a while and I wish that the game had a better singleplayer I mean even the original SSB on the N64 was better but other then that it's a good game. Will try online later and unlock more characters.

Now this is a new game that interests me, am adding it to my possible new games list. Especially considering that it has trophies, and lots of them, I am definitely an item/trophy/achievement hoarder. :P

I've put a handful of hours in already just playing single player fights. Haven't unlocked everyone yet though but I'm still trying to determine who I'm best with.

I want to try to main Zelda again but Yoshi and Samus have gotten aggressively awesome.
