I'd say so, yeah. It has its issues, but it's definitely a must have.

That lag tho...
The lag is absolutely brutal. I mean, I would have lost anyway, but the lag didn't make it any better.
Honestly the 3DS version doesn't look all that appealing to me. I'll definitely shell out for a Wii U when that respective version comes out.
Great game. It's just too bad the 3DS isn't that comfortable to hold. Especially for fighting games. This game ends up causing physical pain at times. But hey. No pain, no gain!
As a Smash title the unlock list feels pretty light. But the action feels great and the game performs well on the 3DS. Any 3DS or Smash Bros fan should pick this game up for sure. I thought PSABR was a good handheld fighter. Smash Bros for 3ds puts it to shame.
@Maroxad: its not just lag, ppl complaining about input problems and delays I mean it is a hand held after all......and you'd be stupid to think it'll play just like a controller, it wont.
At least y'all can get online. I never was able to consistently connect with Mario Kart 8, and now not at all with Smash 3D. Oh the joys of living in a small southern town with horrible internet service. But from what I read, I'm not missing much.
@BranKetra I honestly don't think you'll mess anything up, unless you throw your 3DS against the wall after you lose to Master Hand & Crazy Hand on level 9 intensity for the umpteenth time. The slider is just a bit awkward is all, especially with slow characters.
@notorious1234na: It's not about the US not having hotspots (that's a different issue), the game's net code is just bad. My theory is that Nintendo has a medium latency online network, which works swimmingly for their other games- Mario Kart, Pokemon, and so on- but for a game demanding frame precision like Smash Bros, the latency turns out to be too much, which is why it shows the most then.
@charizard1605: true but I was mainly referring to how small rural towns usually have poor broadband connections hence why he can't even get online once.
I've never really experienced serious lag problems. And for some reason my games against Japanese players tend to be the most responsive.
Maybe the input delays are happening and I'm just not noticing it. Like, I've never lost a match because of lag out of 100 For Glory 1v1s.
What's the online play like is it better than Brawls.
It's far superior in every single way. The connection is a lot stronger, you find opponents way faster, and there are far more options to accommodate the way YOU want to play.
The difference is night and day.
Edit: at least it is on For Glory 1 on 1. That's pretty much all I've played

I wish that were true. The store I work at has a demo station for SSB. 3DS and the thumb stick is already broken off entirely.
One has to wonder how that even happens.

For Glory works perfetly fine. For Fun and playing with others is a mess however.
played Playstation All Stars today on Vita and had no lag whatsoever in online multiplayer. Come on, Nintendo!

That is because no one plays it *troll*
On a serious note, PSASBR is far better coded than the new smash game, probably a lot less buggy too. SSB3DS is littered with bugs.

guy says no one plays it when I just said I played a full multiplayer match online with no issues. real smart!
Bought the 3DS XL Super Smash Bros bundle and so far I am very pleased with it excellent game so far. Takes a bit of time to adjust the smaller screen but the game seems to have alot of depth like the others did.
I managed to get the game yesterday and I started playing (still am too), it's very fun! Already 8 hours in and I'm quite impressed.
New favorite is Rosalina. I didn't like her at first but she's definitely my favorite character in the game and I've started racking up tons of online matches with her.
Game is excellent and I really enjoy it. I rarely turn to portables but lately I've just been sitting in bed playing my 2DS rather than gaming on my PC or finishing Shadows of Mordor.

How are the ergonomics on the 2DS for Smash? I get the feeling they'd be better than a 3DS or XL.
For Glory is starting to wear thin, if they had thrown Battlefield and Yoshi's Island (Brawl) into the random stage select it'd have been so much better... or better yet, just made it so Omega Mode simply disables stage hazards.

That still wouldn't allow moving stages to make it in at all, and it would nerf some stages with pits and stuff. Omega isn't the ideal solution, but honestly, it's better than anything else they could have done. And in real tournaments, nothing will be stopping players from just picking the stages they want to, after all, they don't have to stick to Omega.

The joke completely went over your head.

Just playing the DEMO on my 3DS I felt myself straining the thumb stick. I always back off, and this alone will keep me away from the 3DS version. I can't afford to break my 3DS. Not for this game. I'll just get it on Wii U.

I'm guessing you got banned lol
got to love that anon or IP switch
Woof. Just had one of the most exciting matches I can remember in a Smash Bros game. Final Destination: I was Ike, then there was a Sonic, Meta Knight, and a Little Mac. I came out on top in the end, but not even counting the win halfway through the match I was thinking how intense it was.
Just started playing today. Went in to the online expecting all kinds of lag, from what I've read online about it. Nope, it was smooth as butter. I love playing as The Villager. Such a devious little bastard. :D
Really? When I tried (For Fun mode) 4 players online, it didn't just lag. It stopped. Frequently. About 5 seconds after it stopped things started to move again, but extremely laggy, until it stopped again. 100% unplayable. I'm afraid to try again now, since I'll probably get extremely angry on the result.
Okay, so the online mode seems to have settled down for me now, and there seems to be minimal lag. Pretty good.
