The two biggest shooters are about to explode - Gears of War 2 vs. Resistance 2

We are all aware that the two most gigantic exclusive shooters to be released this year are named Gears of War 2 and Resistance 2. At this point, we do not know what game will be the supercilious one, but in the end, either Gears of War 2 or Resistance 2 will turn into the most thriving game in terms of critics. In your opinion, what game will wind up being the superior one in terms of critics? At the moment, we do not know, but what do you think? I have not played Resistance: Fall of Man, and I am not planning on purchasing the sequel, but I believe that Gears of War 2 will be the finer game in terms of critics, despite the fact that I think that Resistance 2 will be admired by reviewers, as well.

Gears of War 2 is the heatedly anticipated Xbox 360 shooter game and the sequel to Gears of War, that scored a 9.6 here. It is made by Epic and is set to be released on the 7th of November this year. Personally, I think that this game will be vastly nice, since it is the sequel to one of my favourite shooter games of all time.

Here, we have got another anticipated shooter game, this time for Sony's PlayStation 3. It is the sequel to Resistance: Fall of Man, that scored a nice 8.6 here. This shooter is made by Insomniac Games and I think that it will be released in November, as well. I believe that this game will be esteemed, but I do not find it captivating.

Gears 2 why because its the best looking console game this gen.

Critically and sales vise GeoW2 will eat up Resistance2 and pretty much any other shooter this fall, it's the new Halo.

But personally I was never really all that amazed by GeoW, so I'd rather play R2, not to mention Clear Sky, Warhead, L4D and FC2.

Gears of War 2 easily.Yes, I know I express how mundain I think Gearsof War is past graphics, but it has that marketing catch smaller than Halo ...

While Resistance a medoicre FPS sold purely for the reason that it was one of the only good games on the PS3 for a LONG time, much like Perfect Dark Zero's underserved success.

Only reason these two games are considered compitition is because they are exclusive to two different consoles. If RFoM was multiplat it would get far far less attention. On the other hand Gears is AAA on here and Gamerankings, ranked #40 on Gamerankings, a ton of awards like GOTY. RFoM was AA on here and Gamerankings and not even in the top 200 on gamerankings.

Gears2 will crush RFoM2 in sales and score.

Yes, but even I am impressed by Resistance 2. Fine, Gears of War was more flourishing in terms of critics than Resistance: Fall of Man, but it does not necessarily mean that, for that reason, same thing will happen to Gears of War 2 and Resistance 2.

Howthe hell is resistence 2 the "biggest" shooter? The first was average,it's not even top 10.

These comparison threads need to stop, resistence is not on level with Gears of War, it's not even in the same universe.

Resistance 2 looks like it's going to be trash.

I'll take Gears.

Personally i just don't find Gears that fun.

So Resistance for me :)

Gameplay -Gears 2

The gameplay hasn't changed in either game. Gears 1 had far superior gameplay,it was unique too. Also it has far superior visuals. Those are the only two things we can determine now. Other things such as:

Better multiplayer

Better story

etc...We'll have to wait and see. I'm already sure I'll enjoy Gears alot more but both will be great. And I think it's already obvious which will be getting higher reviews...

Resistance 2 will impress people more

why? because it has WAY more to build upon from part 1.

Gears of War 2 looks like more Gears 1, that's great for people who want more Gears, but a lot of critics look for new interesting stuff in sequels, and Resistance 2 is adding something new in practically every part of the original.

I'm not saying Resistance 2 will be the better game, i'm saying critics will have more good things to say about it, imo atleast.

Sorry, but why would you need a seuqel to a game with no storyline? It's pointless IMO.

Gears of War has a story. Moreover, Gears of War 2 looks much more excellent than Gears of War.

I've played both gears and Resistance alot, and resistance is much much better. The enemies were smarter, the guns were incredibly unique and offered brilliant game-play opportunities that Gears could not even touch.

Visually, Gears did have the upper hand, but with a short and monotonous campaign, there really wasn't alot to see.

Online play is where Resistance really shined. Huge maps with a jaw-dropping amount of players all at once, and it was an absolute blast.

So... if I had to go by history, it is a safe bet to assume Resistance 2 will trump Gears 2. there is one problem, though: The games are of two different genres. As much as I like Resistance more, in the end comparing the two is fun but ultimately pointless, because one is a third person shooter and the other is a first person shooter. They offer vastly different game-play experiences, and it will come odwn to what type you prefer, or rather, what system you own.

even though i love gears of war (sad im not getting gears2), resistance seems like its gonna be pretty good. You can say it sucks as an opinion, but when you say it sucks and try to push it out as a fact, that just pisses every1 off.
