[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"]CoD4 was advertised.
Whats the whole argument in this thread now?
sparkypants
Im trying to say there is no need for 3 consoles 2 would be fine, I suggest that the 360 should be pulled because it has the least exclusives and alot of its selling titles are on the PC. Now before you jump ship I have pulled a 3rd party source that compare the 3 systems exclusive titles its on pg9 I believe. While my argument may have been alittle drastic, someone with alittle common sense convinced me that 3 consoles are nessisary to help balance sales but made the claim that it shouldnt be MS but another company in itself(he suggested MS stick to PC and help make it a competitor instead of an outlet)...that was the idea, but thanks to casey I had to speand 3 pgs explaining the diffrence between FACT and OPINION.
also CoD4 had little advertisment, In fact the only reason I knew about it was from here...
so you want to dump the console with the most high rated exclusives in favor of one with fewer? cod4 had lots of advertisement, dude. there were tv commercials and everything.
[QUOTE="sparkypants"]Well then thats the companies fault, and the fact the game is there is fact as well...so in a case like this when we are talking about exclusives that game CAN be used as an argument because it is a fact that the game is exclusive and it is a fact that well its a game. and to disprove you on your earlier comment, the sales of an individual game would never be put into play unless you were comparing two games(because Im talking systems, and its clear they exist)
I would also like to add CoD4 had very little advertisment, and it still managed to sell well now didnt it
CaseyWegner
if you admit that sales could be the companies fault, why on earth should we use sales as a factor?
I said advertisments, if a company chooses to not advertise its there fault, but that doesnt really have to stop the game from selling,If a game is good, trust me it will sell but its like I said before, you dont usally compare sales of games unless your comparing 2 games of the same genera. you usally use sales to compare systems...and I dont think advertising is needed for that people know they are there...now then back to the topic.
[QUOTE="sparkypants"]also CoD4 had little advertisment, In fact the only reason I knew about it was from here...
Snowboarder99
Whether or not COD4 was advertised a good amount is besides the point. The point is how much this game is advertised will affect its sales, and not the game itself. Therefore, sales are not a good indicator of the quality of a game.
QED
...contradiction much :?
If sales equal quality of the game then here are the EXCLUSIVE games that sold on the 360
http://vgchartz.com/games/index.php?name=&console=X360&developer=&publisher=&genre=&keyword=&order=Sales
Halo 3- 7.90m
Forza 2- 3.87m
Graw- 2.15m
Saints Row- 1.77m
Crackdown- 1.45m
Perfect Dark Zero- 1.40m
Dead or Alive 4- 1.01m
That's all I can come up with. Notice how 4 of there AAAE titles are million sellers?

Wouldn't it make more sense to pull the PS3, since the 360 software is drastically outselling the PS3s? Obviously if more software is selling on it than a competitor, some people must like it.
And if you saw no ads for CoD4, you must have missed every gaming mag in the months before November, and must not have watched Spike TV, MTV, or VH1 at all. Only game I have saw more adverts for has been GTAIV.

no. if you're going to use sales then no variables other than quality should be able to affect it.

If its on more than one platform its called Multiplat not Exclusive.good job understanding conjunctions, the "and" was adding to the thought by saying alot of its SELLING TITLES(not exclusives)are on the PC...when you highlight exclusives you highlighted the end of the "...it has the least EXCLUSIVES" part.

I'm still waiting for the TC to spin this, besides I would like to add with multiplat games the 360 still outsells there ps3 counterparts so there's no need to pull out microsoft if third party companies are still making money of the system.

On paper shure, but hes were my idea came into play. While the 360 is pulling more in sales it offers less. This is because Microsoft chooses to share some of its high selling 360 games with the PC or PS3, so whats the point of having it especially with the cost of consoles being as high as they are. I figured it would be nicer on budgets if there were two systems...and the logical one to drop would be the one that offers less. It was then suggested that having 2 systems wouldnt be a good way to drop budgets, 3 consoles keep prices in check...his solution, why not have MS focus on PC and let another 3rd console step in...but thats just one idea.

Why the 360. The 360 currently have more AAE and AAAE games. The PS3 may have more sub-AAE games but I don't think it really makes up the gap (also would like a better souce than Wikipeida, who had games that will never come out in the US).

but those ratings are a matter of opinion...stop speaking in circles because your looking silly. Try to understand that if someone gives a game a rating he is giving his opinion on the game, because I could easily say that the PS3 has better games BUT that is only MY opinion and not fact. This is the reason that a rating system fails because it is opinion, when you try to prove a point you use fact NOT OPINION. If I have to repeat this one more time I will just leave because its like talking to a brick wall!

So is the matter of needing three consoles. If there was not room in the market or demand for three consoles there would not be three consoles. However, the market seems to be doing just fine with the three systems. Capitalism is working.

That was my inital though then someone pointed out that 2 consoles would only raise the cost of them and suggested 3 would keep it in check...he added that a nice IDEA would be to have MS to move over to just PC and another company could make a 3rd console. This is a NICE IDEA but realisticly you and I both know it will never happen because companies are about money not the people who buy them. I just made this thread because honesty I was bored as hell and thought this would keep me busy...plus I had fun putting casey in his place :P

[QUOTE="Suliman-Uchia"]Yes there is. I like three. Sure it is expensive but still. I like my PS3 in way for hardware, movies and MSG4 than the 360 and Wii. I love my Wii for parties. I love my 360 for Online. I like 3 consolessparkypants
yeah but why pay for the online? when most of the games 360 has to offer end up on the PC and those same games offer online, wouldnt you rather use the free online seviers the PC offers as opposed to paying a fee for live?
Most people can't afford a good gaming computer like some of us. So their next big option is the 360.Competition makes everyone work harder. Nintendo isn't exactly busting its butt to make the Wii a success, are they? On the other hand, the PS3 and 360 are both trying furiously to outdo one another, which means we win. They try harder, which means they'll do anything; cut prices, release great games, etc. They'll do anything to be better than the next guy to make people buy their console. Let's say the PS3 didn't exist. Microsoft wouldn't be working nearly as hard as they are now.TheEndBossMS last gen really pushed Sony to try a little harder and they did and I like the product they brought out. Wii I consider it just a toy, which of course is fun. But real hardcore gamers will run to 360 and PS3, it's always better to have more competition than non because then hardware and quality of games would not be that good.
Yes in some cases sequels may not take away much from the previous game but in some cases playing a sequel means that you have basicaly played all that was to play in the original and more. The only thing that's going to be really different is the storyline.it doesn't matter if they're there by default. they exist...they count. sequels don't take anything away from them.
