I was a PC gamer for a long time but for the last few years I've been gaming mainly on consoles.I could't remember why i swiched but it all came back to me.

There is always some freaking prbolem with the freaking PC (and yes in my mind the "word" is not "freaking").Always.

I decided to do some PC gaming today .Wanted to try out steam. So I got the all time hermit favorite the Witcher for 15 euro.

I'll give you a very short version. All of this took me half a day counting steam registration game download ect ect.

I start up the game and ofcourse there is some strange glitch (i could see lights through walls (like fires, torches.)

So what do I do?Google it. So I did and found a "solution". I need to do something in a program called nHancer. I get the lastest version but I can't install it cus I need NET framework 3.5 or later. So I get the framework 4.0, install it but nHancer still says it needs framework 3.5 or later (wtf).Ok so... what do I do now ? Get an older version of nHancer. This time it installs.I start up the program and oh snap an... an error, program doesn't work properly.

At this point I'm like **** it. I'm not going to waste anymore of my time and I'm not gonna play a glithced out game.15 euro down the drain.Great.

The only games worth playing on a PC are blizzard games. There is always something wrong with the PC.If its no the game its a program or a driver or whatever. I was used to all this wen I was "PC only gamer" but wen I look back it now its just not worth it.Consoles are some much better.Simple is a GOOD thing. They may lack graphics but atleast you don't waste half a day just to find out your game won't work like it should.

My PC is just for starcraft 2 I guess.

Situations like that are reasons why I game on PC less then I would. Still, a lot of it is my ignorance.

At least you can troubleshoot the problem on PC. If you have glitches on a console you are at the complete mercy of the devs to fix it, which may take a long time if at all.

And dont say that they dont have glitches or broken games, because they do.

The only reason I've been playing on PC less is because, the games I want for Q1 are all on console. When the multiplats still rolling out I'll be getting them on PC, but for now KZ3 and MVC 3 are on PS3!

Whenever I had to type a report for school before I got my laptop I would always work out an intricate position in the chair. I'd twist it and lean over it, sit in it like a couch, put my feet up on the desk in interesting ways. I don't think it was the computer I was having trouble with. It was the damn chair!

Agreed. 10 years of PC gaming, I've never been that guy on a forum crying for help. I can't even remember the last time I had a problem with a game, much less my PC. Not to be a jerk at all OP, just saying, some people have PC issues chronically; some people never have problems. So, I disagree.

Yeah i know it sucks, but you dont see me throwing my couch at the window in anger just because of it, its something you just have to live with, because it will be there no matter what you do.

nHancer won't work on the newest Nvidia drivers.

Use a program called Nvidia Inspector, same as nHancer but more in depth so better.

Out of my 20+ years of PC gaming there have only been a handful or so games with unfixable bugs.

Same goes for consoles.

Last time I had to go through any hoops to play a game was......was......hell I forget it's been so many years.

It still happens. Remember the ARMA II 8GB bug? The Batman Arkham Asylum Realtek bug? The StarCraft II SLI bug? (Is that one fixed? I gave up on StarCraft II because of it.) That's not to say dip**** things don't happen on consoles too (Fallout 3: The Pitt comes to mind) but in my experience gaming on any platform is more problematic than when I started, not less.

Your right. There aren't many unfixable bugs.If it was 3 years ago and I was still actively gaming on PC I would't quit so easily and would waste days (if i had to) just fix this, but thats exactly my point. You don't need to work that hard just to play a game on consoles.Thats why I say they are better for gaming.

Of course I cannot played Arma 2 maxed out because of my RAM back then.

It is your opinion that it is better for gaming.

But that problem with The Witcher was easy to fix.

My friend had it because he used SLI and I fixed it for him in 10-15 minutes.

Sure that sounds long but add up all the long load times for those console games and it hits even.

My friend bought the 360 slim and that thing is way louder than my computer and if you nudge it barely when it's playing a game it destroys your game disk.

My friend's PS3 stopped working after a firmware update and he lost all his saves and had to get another PS3.

He had 2 Xbox 360s break on him too.

Both Computer and Console gamers have problems with hardware and software.

Yah like the Heavy Rain freeze bug.

That was actually when my friend's PS3 stop working when they had a firmware update after that.

Must suck to lose all his save files.

The only issues i've had with steam is the crap voice chat... Mumble and Ventrillo just seem way better but Steam is free so i'll suffice... Another is a sudden disconnection and when i retry i get "The servers are busy so we booted you out to make room for others" message... Very annoying... But other than that it's fine.

Edit: I see where you linked the same problem from another. You see how that worked? You ask for a solution and it is given. This sort of thing doens't happen all the time. It takes a little effort on your part.

I could say the same thing about console gaming. What was the failure rate for the 360? Something like 52% REALLY?!?! Are you joking!??! Try and find a quick fix for that online.

Actually, a whole lot, but when Nvdia released the 400 series and their new drivers, they pretty much fixed that problem (along with the multi-screen set-up problems and etc.)

Ha, try battlefield 2 for steam, downloaded it, couldn't play it because it had no cd-key that worked. Had to call ea and steam support, was forced to download a program that converted my original key gen, and take out files out of 6the original game, the kind of things i shouldnt do,.

This is hardly an exageration. I've gone through the same thing the TC has many times with PC games. It becomes a hassle. And also I hate using the keyboard/mouse for gaming. Annoying.

Most problems are user created problems. Not everbody can handle technical devices. My mom can't either.nethernova

and yes there are many nicely keyboard/mouse gamepads or whatever, but in my mind, they are still keyboards and they make for decent controllers for games like World of Warcraft or other RPG's. Other than that though I much prefer a solidly built Xbox or PS3 controller that you know will work and feel comfortable.

I only use my PC for playing older games, mostly RPGs. There is a ton of great stuff on GOG.com you can get cheap and are some of the best games ever made.

Other then that, PC gaming is a pain, and not worth my time. I'd much rather play todays games on a PS3 or 360.
