I don't understand why people can't like the PS3 as a console and still realize that Sony has been a total failure this gen. Tragic_Kingdom7
A "total failure"??? How can you like a product of this gen and say the company behind it is a total failure?
That's like saying I really like this pork chop but the chef sucks.
If you want to say that Sony is a total failure because it didnt come out the gate as number 1, selling 120,000,000 units in it's first year; that's just wrong.

The end result is is very average. And since BluRay is the cause of most of the PS3's problems, I'd say BR is far from next gen.

but that wasn't the argument. What you said is that the ps3 had last-gen hardware. Well, how can it have last-gen hardware if it's capable of doing alot more than the 360 out of the box. Another thing is that while the ps3 forced everything on you, m$ milked you for it in which if you had to buy the extra accessories for you 360 that already came with the ps3, you'll end up spending more for the 360 in the endMy point is, you DON'T have to buy the accessories. If you're not going to use them, why have them? Why drive the price of the console up, when some people might not use them?

you can't take YOUR situation and try to turn it against sony and then claim that their failing because just to let you now, i have bought these accessories for the 360: A wireless network card (because how my set-up is, using a cable would not only make a mess, but would be a huge inconvenience)=100.00, a controller charger (because i'm not going to spend a fortune on batteries)=30.00, and the 360 console-pro-350.00. So 350.00+100.00+30.00=480.00. The ps3 is 500.00. So for 20.00 more, i get a blu-ray player, a web browser, a multi-media machine, and soon to be a tivo recorder. Now to me THAT'S A DEAL
PS3 has better media functionality. I can copy and watch my videos on my PS3 without having my PC on all the time. That helps a lot. Sony still has some work to do but I'm slowly starting to appreciate my PS3 more and more.InfinityMugen

I like the Wii. I have nothing bad to say about it, except it doesn't have many games that appeal to me. I eventually want to get one, because my wife loves that kind of stuff.

Mass Effect and Gears IMO is enough to make PS3 lineup for 2007-2008 look totally boring

Dont get me wrong. I wasnt one of those people that bought it just for blu ray. Of course I did get games for it as well. I just finished GTA IV and I'm looking foward to playing MGS4 and its many future exclusives. I was just highlighting the other features which I consider conveinient extras.

Also, nothing is free. Sony is letting you play online for free right now. But who's to say that Sony won't charge in the future? No one knows for sure, but they could see how well MS is doing with Live, and want more money. Plus with Home coming out, they could see that as an oppertunity.

I agree and the thing is it's going to take time for developers to really start using this new technology that's put before them. Once this happens these boards are going to go crazy with people saying that this is still not needed while the developers are praiseing this technology.

I can certainly see Sony charging for online, I can totally see that. But right now, that's not the case. So what are you telling me? Are you telling me to "just wait"??? And if Sony does start charging, at least it's not all P2P like Live. And maybe the PSN could handle a Christmas rush if everyone had to chime in for 50 bucks a year.

I'm not waiting for anything, I'm enjoying plenty of games and updates to the PSN all the time. I own a 360 too, and I can tell you I've "just waited" much more on the 360 than I have the PS3. Waiting for my 360 back from the good ol' repair center in Texas.
And I'm fully aware Sony lies, and I can tell the difference in 120 FPS and full librarys full of 1080p gaming and the truth. I knew it wouldnt happen, I didnt expect anything more from Sony than what I'm getting right now - a great video game experince. If you "used to be a cow" that's fine, but just because you were blind doesnt mean everyone else was.
I'd much rather deal with broken promises than broken consoles. I can tell you I was much more dissapointed in the RROD and fautly power brick than I was when I realised Resistance wasnt 1080p.

well that, and the fact that the ps3 outsold the 360 worldwide last year, overtook Europe (360 vs ps3 that is), and is giving the 360 a fight for it's life in N.A.(the 360 home domain) since 08 has started. So how's that for ammunition?

Achievements? I remember when they were called "points" in Super Mario Brothers. Also, I remember having a custom sountrack while playing Sonic by putting a CD in my stereo. Teh Innovashunzzz.

It still exists because it hasn't been fixed. Plenty of people are having the issue still even with brand new machines. Go read any user review site for yourself. Just goto Amazon.com and read the reviews. Why would you believe it is fixed. Not a single reputable website has said fixed, nor has Microsoft. The only ones saying fixed are lemmings. The same ones who said it was fixed with Xclamps, the bigger heatsink, then elite fixed it, then the HDMI mobo, then halo edition, now they are saying Falcon.
I said "could be fixed" as in _when_ it is. Cows will never believe that it will be fixed. They won't let it go.
Which makes cows the greatest hypocrites. The PS2, and the DRE. Sony had to get sued before they fixed it. If anything, cows should know what 360 owners are going though, instead of pointing, and laughing like 3 year olds, and forgetting they were in the same boat last gen.

I know Sony overhypes their consoles, but this is rediculous. Sony promised a console that would be able to deliver things we've never seen before in a video game. What do we really get? A bloated movie player. The 360 more than holds it's own against the PS3, considering the PS3 came out a year later. What's worse is devs are having to dumb down the resolution, and force players to install half of the game to their HDD to even keep up with the 360. Why are cows not upset about this?
Sony takes out features after the console has been out for 6 months, then adds features later in the game, making people pay $50+ for old technology. I would be highly upset if I were a cow. Sony cannot make up thier mind.
I don't even want to get into all of the vaporware that Sony has been promising.
Where's the revolution? Where's the innovation? I don't want to hear, "Devs haven't tapped into the hidden power yet, just wait!" That didn't work for the PS2, and it won't work here.

I was cow last gen. I didn't own the original Xbox until after I bought the 360. I have been on both sides of the fence, and had been through a lot of PS2. I, myself, have never had the RROD, and hope I never do. But I have sent my 360 in for DVD drive related problems, which turned out to be my copy of COD4.

the dvd format that your respected 360 runs on, the fact that u can vertically stand the 360 up and play, dual analogue sticksand to tell you the truth, m$ wasn't the 1st ones to do custom soundtrack. If you played a game called vigilante 8 on the ps1, u'll know that you was able to play custom soundtracks on that game (although the game actual audio goes out the window and you method with the game cd and your own cd, but you can play the game and listen to custom music at the same time (i know from experience)

How is a DVD player next gen? Since PS3 is a GAMES console on which people wish to play GAMES Blu-Ray can be seen as nothing more than an expensive add on, that whilst it may attract new customers, is quite a pointless addition. And as for the "power of teh CELL!!" DUN DUN DUN! What do you want me to be impress in the cell that's proving hardly any more powerful than the 360, and since when did graphics make a console next gen anyway, just because that's been the only definable difference between other console it doesn't suddenly make it the norm, because a console released that doesn't have super shiny high res characters in it's games.

At least the cows sued. It seems to me like lemmings are perfectly content supporting a broken consoles because MS will fix it for free...by sending another broken console. And then what happen next year? What happens to all these people who have a refurbished 360 that RRODs after November 2008 (when the warranty runs out)? They're still out of luck and will either have to pay to fix it or buy a new machine. Because all MS has been doing is sending out the same old broken hardware that caused the RROD in the first place.

The end result is is very average. And since BluRay is the cause of most of the PS3's problems, I'd say BR is far from next gen.
the ps3 have ALOT more features to it out of the box than the 360 do. That's what makes it "next-gen"Which made it a lot more expensive. At least we got the choice.
but that wasn't the argument. What you said is that the ps3 had last-gen hardware. Well, how can it have last-gen hardware if it's capable of doing alot more than the 360 out of the box. Another thing is that while the ps3 forced everything on you, m$ milked you for it in which if you had to buy the extra accessories for you 360 that already came with the ps3, you'll end up spending more for the 360 in the endMy point is, you DON'T have to buy the accessories. If you're not going to use them, why have them? Why drive the price of the console up, when some people might not use them?

Just so you know, I have a 360 and ps3. I have one kid and a wife. Three gamertags on Live cost me 150$!!!!! Three PSN ids? Free, free, free. And the kicker? The games on psn play just as well (if not better, due to some games supporting dedicated servers) as Xboxlive. Imagine that. So tell me, how isn't microsoft milking you?

Bluetooth, its a DLNA media server (Read up on DLNA), up to 6 video chats with the playstation eye( built in mic), upgradable hard drive, everything you listed is software base which is being added to the PS3.

Try real game like Halo 3, Gears, Mass Effect, Lost odyssey etc on 360 for quality, PS3 is only fillers for 2007-2008
