lag-filled is quite an overstatement. if its "lag-filled" then you better check your connection dude.dude please. Zombies pay for this medicore service and shouldnt be bombared with crap like the life story of some random avatar. The ads are crap just like the lag-filled mp experience.

video tab/playstation store whats this? ads?
Game tab/playstaiton store what this ad's?
playstation store it self whats this? ad's random ads to boot, sunday ticket for the nfl.
99% of ad's on the 360 like the xmb ad's and playstation store ad's have to do with content found on xbox live, xbla, games appearing on xbox 360, videos on the zune marketplace...etc
the ad's can be completely bypassed you aren't forecd to watch them.
Seems like pretty weak sauce to complain about ad's when it doesn't hinder your gaming enjoyment...
It's the principle of the matter.
We PAY MONEY right into Microsoft's wallet for the right to use Xbox Live.
Having any kind of ads...even if relatively unobtrusive, is just an unjust business practice.
Either they rise the costs of subscription, or they offer tiered prices: a "Cheaper with ads," and an "Ad-free" model.

I guess you should stop paying for television becasue you pay for it and yet there are ads interrupting your show. DERP.
I pay 60 a year for this service. I shouldn't see any ads on XBL. AAllxxjjnn
people pay 60 dollars a month for TV, get the **** over the price, its not that expensive. People complaining about paying a fee to use a good service is out of their minds. Besides PAy to play has been around since 2003/2004 people (whenever Xbox live launched) this isnt news. People will **** and complain about pay to play but then they nerdgasm over TOR or the Next WoW expansion. fail logic is fail.

I know xmb is the PSN dash but what does it stand for? I have always wondered.
when you turn on the xbox you see 3 ads.
when you turn on the ps3 you see it scroll through 12 ads plus the scroll in the top right corner.
i actually like all the ads because they are one click tabs to the new content.
i remember when i put vudu on my ps3 i had seen the ad for it a million times and never clicked it then the day i actually wanted to put it on there it was not on the xmb like normal and i had to search for it in the media section in the psn store to install it.
it took forever to find the damn thing.

if ads tick you off prepare to be ticked off every second for the rest of your life.
Wait... hold on! There are ads?
Seriously though... as you've shown in your pictures, the ads aren't even "in your face" like a popup window on the PC. It's odd that people have problems with ads anyways. I've said in another thread, advertisements are everywhere - PS3 users are choosing to point out that they are on the 360, for some reason. They are literally EVERYWHERE. Internet, TV, bus stops, buses, billboards, radio, Xbox, PS3, Hulu, Youtube, Gamespot..... you can't go a day without seeing an advertisement for something - if you did, there wouldn't be a company left that was making a profit. They spend the money on ads because people buy their stuff when they see it.

Well, technically most console gamers aren't into MMOs.so what does taht have to do with it? Its a game that people praise, and they pay to play it online, and the same people will criticize XBL for having to pay to play. I mean paying for a service that works is not outlandish by any means. There is a difference between that and than paying TOO MUCH, yeah I would be up in arms if XBL was like 100+ dollars or something that would warrant a big BS hammer.

They've fixed that in a new update. There's a new section on the XMB titled TV/Video services that has all the different video services apps comviently available to download.

The only way I see ads hurting peoples gaming experience is if you were playing and then all of a sudden a **** ad comes up, now that is legit for some ownage.

Dude, that's completely different. Those shows only stay on the air because of the adds that pay for that space. The more popular the show, the more money the show gets and thus stays on the air. On Live, it's completely different.[QUOTE="peterw007"][QUOTE="mems_1224"]doesn't matter, you're still paying to see adsAncientDozer

The same should be true with Microsoft.

I know the overwhelming majority of this board embraces it as a "fact of life" but I still disagree.

Sony does it as well, but Sony DOESN'T CHARGE for PSN.
Therefore, Microsoft shouldn't do it when people pay for Live. It's as simple as that.
lol, i remember the last time this came up there was an axe body spray commercial that you could not turn off scrolling across the top right of the xmb and the ps3 guys were all.

The money you pay at theaters goes straight to the company that is publishing the movie. Not the movie theater itself. So. Let me say this one more time. It. . doesn't. . . matter. . where the money is going. You're still paying for an event and you're still getting advertisements. And understand that even though money goes one way or another, deals are brokered between theater and publishing companies where money is passed from one hand to another which makes this argument even more arbitrary. I gotta be honest, I don't know what I'm arguing about right now.[QUOTE="Chutebox"][QUOTE="AncientDozer"] YOU. ARE. STILL. PAYING. AND. YOU. ARE. STILL. SEEING. ADS. God. oh, this was my point! The consumer does pay a price, this is given. But with xbox live, it's literally pure proffit on what they're alrelady making mony on. A movie theater isn't like that. They make money on the ads and food. That's it.

That doesn't make sense. Just because I pay for XBL means Microsoft shouldn't be allowed to sell advertisement spots on their dashboard? I don't think that's how the real world works, correct me if I'm wrong. It'd be different if there were ads along the bottom of the screen, but to find an ad on the dashboard you have to look for them - they're not crawling all over. Microsoft is a company - therefore they're going to do like any company and make money, by selling ad spots - the same as Sony. Sony doesn't charge for PSN - cool, that's their fault and PS users' luck. Nintendo doesn't place ads because the Wii is a gimmick console, have you seen it's homescreen? Has about 50 blank spots for your downloads, and if you have a Wii your have about 5 of those spots filled? Lametendo.[QUOTE="Thuganomic05"][QUOTE="peterw007"]Maybe not a popup ad, but I guarantee you still see ads along the borders of pages/banners, whether you're going to admit it or not - they're there.Yeah, like, at the bottom of this page. What does paying for it have to do with anything? Are you implying that since I pay for XBL there should be no ads since there are ads on a free radio station, and since the billboards don't affect me cause I'm driving on a road that I don't pay for?? If anyone on this forum has an Android phone and they download a free app, there is going to be an ad somewhere on the screen while using said app. However, if you purchase the same app, the ad is gone. Why? Because the ad on the app is annoying. It's right there next to what you're looking at and is accidently pressed while messing with your app. So now you're thinking in your head, exactly - so Xbox shouldn't charge since they have ads , and if they continue to charge they should remove the ads. Wrong. The apps remove the ad when you pay because it's an obvious distraction. The ads on XBL blend in with all the other junk (game previews, reviews, downloads) that you can hardly tell one thing from another. You know, usually when I pay for some sort of "Premium" service, I get the option to you know....Remove the Ads.
Xbox no I don't, I still get them.
If they're relevent like say "Thor is now avalible on the Zune Marketplace" I could be like "Oh cool, I can buy it now and watch it!" and I would. But to see something like "AXE SUPER SECENTED BODY WASH FOR MEN IS AMAZING!" doesn't protain to my Xbox. I can I buy a bottle of Axe though my Xbox? No. Oh wait! Niassan has a New Car out! Awesome! Can I buy the Car through the Xbox? No? Dang.
It's stuff like that that makes no darn sense and really has no business being on my Video Game Systems.
