I don't understand.
So you want to buy your fancy smancy new iPhone/Ipod, you want to jailbreak it, so it can actually do something. Guess who was the first to do that? Oh same guy Geohot. Do you consider people who have a jailbroken iphone immoral? What about a rooted google phone like the HTC EVO, so you can put custom roms on it, and all the good stuff. Hell for Android, you don't even need root to install pirated applications.
Another example, the Logitech Revue. (I got mine free for being a google code dev :D, but say you want to root that. Say you want to watch your movies with DTS audio, or being able to visit websites that block your logitech revue's string agent because it's a google tv. Would you consider that evil? What's the difference? It's getting root access to the device, nothing more, nothing less.
Now for the PS3, what's so different here? He just gave root access to the device, to get you out of the walledgarden. He isn't the one condoning piracy, hell he isn't even a gamer.
So do you people think having less rights to the devices you own is a good thing?
