It's not a Halo 3 screenshot. :x
Why does the Spartan on the right have an ODST helmet then? It's Master Chief, and he's not capable of being played in the expansion.
Uhh Are you for real?:?my views on your list in red[QUOTE="Propaganda_"]
10. Deus Ex --------------- PC.
Great choice. the mixture of RPG, FPs, stealth and story telling was revolutionary
09. Half-Life 2 --------------- PC.
The way the story was told with out disrupting the flow of gameplay was revolutionary
08. Halo 3 --------------- Xbox 360.
This is i can not under stand. halo 3 didnt do any thing that hadnt been done before and it didnt perfect it either
07. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare --------------- PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3.
Same as halo 3 it didnt do any thing doesnt belong on the list.
06. GoldenEye 007 --------------- Nintendo 64.
Popularised mltiplayer for FPS on consoles so again good choice
05. Counter-Strike --------------- PC.
Multiplayer action that requires skill with out being complicated
04. Wolfenstein 3d --------------- PC.
Popularised the FPS genre some times mistaken as the first first person game.
03. Half-Life --------------- PC.
The same as Half life 2 only not as well but this came out first
02. Doom --------------- PC.
set a new standard of first person shooters
01. Halo: Combat Evolved --------------- Xbox.
Moved the FPS crowd to consoles arguably responsible to all he console FPS we have today

Now, I get it. You tend to dislike popular first-person shooters that are critically acclaimed, praised by the general public and actively played. That's why you hate Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4, and that's why you like Deus Ex and Half-Life 2 (less popular games).
Well, let me tell you one thing - popularity has very little to do with being revolutionary. Go look up the word.
Even though I hate halo, i think Combat evolved is a great #1 choice. But COD4 didn't revolutionize anything, if anything it made FPS' worse.Nick3306
Yeah, I think that toast_burner described it in a good way - so good that it transferred the majority of the first-person shooter swarm to consoles - the father of the console first-person shooters.
Halo 3 added the replays to the Genre, and COD4 had it's perk system in MP.
To my knowledge these things were never in vanilla versions of games before this.
Dont be a snob and say they did nothing just because of how popular they are.
Ps. Yes That IS a picture of Halo 3. The map is from halo 3, and the ODST were not in Halo:CE.
no i just dont see how Halo 3 and CoD4 are revolutionary. Now, I get it. [QUOTE="Materia_Ashes"]Garbage list. None of the Halo games, HL2 or CoD4 belong here.Eggimannd
Half-Life 2 definitely deserves to be up there.
not really. it had great character models and physics, but everything else was just standard. the a.i. in the first half life destroys half life 2 not to mention it had better weopons.

No. :|
Things Half life 2 practically introduced physics to the gaming industry in a gameplay form.
Good list but I would swap Doom with Halo CE and bump COD4 down to #10. Doom and Wolfensteinwere pretty much the firstpopular FPS and should be recognized as such.

Well, Call of Duty 4 received a larger public response than Deus Ex, for example, and was the only one of its kind in 2007.
Halo 3 shouldnt be there, replace it with bioshock. And replace COD4 with Timesplitters since they were the first to make the best FPS controls.
When you make a top ten list, you are bound to miss a few. System Shock 2 isn't on this list, for example.Your list suffers from a lack of BATTLEFIELD 1942. You need to change it. NOW!!

i understand CoD and Halo: Combat Evolved in the list (they expanded the genre to a much bigger degree, plus i liked Halo multi and CoD singleplayer) but why halo 3? did it have something revolutionary i didnt know? i played the game until the floods came in my friends house and while it was fun, i didnt find it revolutionary at all.funsohngThe Flood came into your friends house?:|
Does Mirror's Edge count?
dark-warmachine
Don't know that I would classify Mirrors Edge as an FPS.
Awesome game.

Theatre, Forge, its multiplayer etc. Not as revolutionary as the other ones, but what more revolutionary game is there, that is not on the list?

You don't really have much of a leg to stand on with Bioshock though. Shooting-wise it was pretty normal. Good but not particularly revolutionary.Halo 3 shouldnt be there, replace it with bioshock. And replace COD4 with Timesplitters since they were the first to make the best FPS controls.

well, i didnt play MP in his house (he doesnt even have live or internet connected to his xbox...) so i guess that's what im missing. i never been a fan of multiplayer fps so im not in position to argue or anything really tho[QUOTE="SpiritOfFire117"][QUOTE="funsohng"]i understand CoD and Halo: Combat Evolved in the list (they expanded the genre to a much bigger degree, plus i liked Halo multi and CoD singleplayer) but why halo 3? did it have something revolutionary i didnt know? i played the game until the floods came in my friends house and while it was fun, i didnt find it revolutionary at all.funsohngThe Flood came into your friends house?:| no the part after something big thing opens and everyone's infected by floods i think it was something like that and you play with that covenant who's on your side idk it was like 2 years ago Oh because I couldn't tell if the actual parasites came into the house or some wave of water came in. :P

It's an enormous part of Halo 3. But not merely it. Every played with Forged or used Theatre?

surprisingly, a very good list. i know the cows and hermits are gonna cry foul on #1 tho. even tho i agree. and im not even a big halo fan.
Well i dont have an idea how you got Halo 3, CoD4 and Half Life 2 into your catagory of "top 10 revolutionary games"
But the rest i kinda agree.
But Wolfenstenin should definatly be first, Half Life 2nd, Doom 3rd, Halo CE 4th and the rest in some random order + Tribes (128 people, vehicles, team based gameplay, actual 3D models not just sprites etc.), Battlefield or Codname: Eagle, Quake and probably a few other ones.
That list is so flawed. Where is Quake 3, System Shock 2, Perfect Dark.. *sigh*
wapahala
Those were not revolutionary for their time.
In the console space, Halo 3 is quite revolutionary with Forge, file sharing, theatre mode etc. There really is a proper community there, and now look, we have other console games jumping on the bandwagon too like Uncharted 2.How are CoD and halo 3 revolutionary?
