Horde Mode does not make Gears2 revolutionary. Bioshock deserves it more than Gears2 but both cant even touch top 20

Halo 3 and COD4 have no business up there. Quake 3, Tribes and BF1942 all would have been better candidates. Halo:CE and HL should at least be tied for first, they both did amazing things for their respective systems.

halo and cod4 where not revolutionary they do not belong on the list.

First System Shock is the most revolutionary first-person shooter of all time, in my opinion, and I can back it up. It's still influential up to this day.

The only reason Deus Ex is a revolutionary FPS is because it's not even a FPS. It's a Action Adventure/RPG in which you can create a character that lets you play the game like if in a FPS. Then you add HL2, Halo 3, and CoD4. Poor list is gonna be bashed all day long.:(

Theatre, Forge, its multiplayer etc. Not as revolutionary as the other ones, but what more revolutionary game is there, that is not on the list?

You could argue that the first CoD was very good and popularized the WW2 shooter genre, but it was just everything MoH and BiA should have been, so it wasn't actually revolutionary. And this thread is obviously from a ban dodger judging from the TC's post.

The only revolutionary FPS is doom. They pretty much haven't changed since.

Battlefield is the most innovative. Sorry but halo 3 copied its vehicle gameplay from that.

No stalker, or fear. Fear is by far one of the most underrated fps of all time.

Im sorry,but halo 3 did jack. What you going to say forge. Isint that map making that has been on pc since forever. Ill probably give you halo for popularising shooters on consoles and i think it did the energy health thing first not sure,but thats about it. It shouldint be number 1. It'd be even easier to make an argument for Quake 1..considering Quakeworld was THE beginning of modern internet multiplayer.

The list has some good picks, but stuff like Halo (especially 3) and CoD4 just don't belong up there. I'd say Half-Life 2 doesn't belong up there, either. Those games turn an otherwise-good list into a joke.

edit: I'd probably also replace Wolfenstein with Catacombs 3D.

i'm beginning to understand the way console fanboys think, and why they believe the things they do.

its simply because they dont know any better

halo, to them is probably the most revolutionary FPS of all time, because its all they know. To them its the cream of the FPS crop, which is quite sad.

some of us veterans on the other hand know what really revolutionized FPSs, and to us this list is just funny(some of the titles at least)
