1. How stupid is the Concil?

Ok, in the first game the Concil was pretty stupid, but in the second they were complete morons. So they tell me that they don't beilve that the Reapers are a threat when a Reaper destroyed their fleet and killed everyone on the cidatel. And they tell me " Meh, nothing to worry about, nothing but an isolated incident". Yeah, ok Bioware try harder next time! These were supposed to be the wisest of the species, to make decisions affecting the entire galaxy and they can't admit the reapers exist WHEN A REAPER ALMOST KILLED THEM. Remember that WEAK WRITTING I WAS TALKING ABOUT? Don't even tell me "They were afraid to admit the truth" that was the excuse in the first game and it barely worked then, but now...

2. Nobody cares about human colonies?

So humans are a member of the concil now, they have enourmous galactic power, but when entire colonies dissapear no one is willing to do anything about it? Ok, at first they didn't know what was causing it , but you have proof that the collectors are behind it, and no one wants to do anything about it? Except Sheppard ofcourse, but what happened to the Alliance ? Do they have their heads inside their asses the entire game? They ignore it like nothing's happened and its thousands of lives we're talking about. No human in the entire game i met cared about that.

3. How many reapers are there?

I seem to remember that i boarded a reaper that was 25 million years old. So if the reapers returned every 50 000 years, that would mean that they assimilated 500 races. So there are 500 types of reapers out there at least correct? If every reaper is moddeled after a certain race, then WHY DO ALL THE REAPERS LOOK THE SAME? There should be 500 different reapers out there (And according that almost all the advanced races are humanoids, then most of them should look like humanoids). If anyone remembers the cutscene at the end all the reapers were coming and they all looked the same, they all looked like the Sovereign, like a giant bug. This is a plot hole, you can't convince me otherwise. Even the ancient reaper looked the same as the rest.

Maybe you should devote your time hating Mass Effect 2 in blogs? It is getting tiring seeing your hate-filled rants on System Wars, and they lead nowhere. We can't change your opinion on the game, and you aren't changing anyone elses. It is time to move on

Did a BioWare employee blow up your house or something? I've never seen someone get so angry over a game for this long.

I didn't read your post because I haven't had a chance to play ME2 yet and don't want anything spoiled, but I find it hard to take your opinion seriously when you have been bashing this game endlessly.

Nothing to see here, just another one of his anti-ME2 rants that'll go nowhere. Sad that this'll probably get 5 or 6 pages.

Those are plotholes and/or issues left to the backstory. The main story however is coherent and very well presented.

The problem with the story, just like the first game, is it's unoriginality and poor characters. It's definitely a step up from the previous installment though. In fact it's pretty much better in every way.

1) it's talked about in the game itself that since 2 years have passed and no recurring threats since then that the council isn't taking the bigger threat seriously, also the council and the alliance are more focused on attacking the geth, the council is simply over-confident after the victory in ME1

2) it's mentioned numerous times in the game that the colonies being attacked are beyond citadel space and thus are mostly "on their own"

3) it doesn't take a whole species to make 1 reaper, also there's no telling if other species were simply wiped out instead of being "assimilated" as the humans are, in the game you find out a lot more about the reaper threat and where the protheans went but obviously there's still some things to be learned in the next game, but considering Mass Effect was a planned trilogy then this is a moot point

[spoiler] 1. You do realize that the Council isn't completely ignoring the threat right? They merely think that the problem is the Geth. They are sending their troops to fight the Geth, not the Reapers. It isn't like the Council is entirely ignoring the problem. They just think it is a different actor. 2. Did you not pay attention to the rampant racism in the Citadel? The reason why no one cares about human colonists is because everyone hates humans right now. Listen to C-sec. 3. Since when are there more than two types of Reapers? I mean, we've only seen Squidbilly looking reapers, sovereign, and the prototype human reaper. Who is to say they made reapers out of other races? Does someone remember the whole argument, where i said that they didnt explain the motivation of the reapers in the first game? Well they explained it here. It was Asimilation. Hunting down the advanced race and making a new reaper out of it. Even in the end they explained that they are making a reaper out of each race. So why is there only one reaper (reaper that looks like a bug. Like the sovereign and every other reaper in the end cutscene). So if they dont come up with an explanation in the third game my points still stands WEAK WRITING.

Also in the first point WEAK WRITING. They used the "Reapers are not a threat in the first game" Well Sovereign sure proved them wrong right ? So why would Bioware use the same excuse in the second game. WEAK WRITING!!!

It would be ok, if everyone didnt claim that ME is the best told story this gen. Its unoriginal, bland and full of WEAK WRITING!

What's your point? I don't have the right to say that Battlefield Earth is a baddly written movie, if i haven't written a script myself? It just annoys me. I remember that best story this gen thread and almost everyone mentioned Mass Effect. What's wrong with people today...

hating things that are popular is nothing new. but stating that people are wrong for liking something is kind of misguided, if you ask me. kind of off topic, do you have a pic of your copy of me2, along with today's date posted on a sticky note?

to your third point they didn't do that. they made a human one why? because a human (sheppard) defeated them once, all the rest of them were created by whatever race created them in the first place. why would they waste their time making themselves after pathetic races that couldn't even fight back?

Because that was the point...They hunted different species down to create another reaper. Ensure their survival. Weren't you paying attention? I want proof that you played the game .

Revan, anywhere in the game, did it state that ALL the reapers would be coming to attack? If it did (which I do not remember), then the scene at the end could simply be a first wave.

How do we know that's all the reapers?

Revan, anywhere in the game, did it state that ALL the reapers would be coming to attack? If it did (which I do not remember), then the scene at the end could simply be a first wave.

THEY ALL LOOKED THE SAME! It doesn't matter if that wasn't all of them, they all looked the same. And they should not. Unless you confess that bioware writers suck and they pulled the end boss out of their ass.

[QUOTE="Revan_911"][QUOTE="shadow_hosi"] [QUOTE="Revan_911"][QUOTE="shadow_hosi"]to your third point they didn't do that. they made a human one why? because a human (sheppard) defeated them once, all the rest of them were created by whatever race created them in the first place. why would they waste their time making themselves after pathetic races that couldn't even fight back?

Because that was the point...They hunted different species down to create another reaper. Ensure their survival. Weren't you paying attention? I want proof that you played the game .

their robots, they hate squishy meatbags it was a good enough reason for HK47, its a good enough reason for the Reapers

they were defeated by a human, obviously they see the humans worth the effort of assimilation i don't know about you. but i wouldn't waste my time assimilating races that crumble easily under my attack, now. if the can win a battle. even 1, they may well be worth the effort. and last time i checked, nobody has killed a reaper before, an for all we know that derelict one was destroyed by their creators.

Lol, they all had similar characteristics, though they weren't the same. So your assertion is based on something that wasn't clarified, ie, that those were all of the Reaper species. Meaning their could be different kinds, like with heavy geths, and geth primes.

Seems like your point holds little traction.

1) This is explained in the game fairly well if you actually pay attention. Shepard was the only one who actually spoke to Sovereign, so it's really only his word they have to go on. When given the choice between something that is convenient (Sovereign was just a ship that Saren somehow built or found with the help of the Geth) or the truth (Sovereign was a sentient creature that was controlling Saren and there are hundreds more out there) people will tend to believe the former, especially without solid evidence. This has plenty of parallels in real life.

2) Colonies in the terminus systems are not under council supervision or protection, meaning they are not politically afilliated. While there may be incentives for humans to investigate or take action, the council as a political orginization has very little incentive. Again this has parallels in real life.

3) Maybe EDI was wrong about the reason for the human shaped reaper? The only "evidence" we have that the reapers are built in the shape of the race that went into them is one isolated incident where the Reaper was built by the Collectors (albeit under Reaper supervision). Maybe the supposition by Shepard and EDI regarding the shape of this reaper was wrong?

Revan_911

All the reapers look the same because that is only the outside shell...

Did a BioWare employee blow up your house or something? I've never seen someone get so angry over a game for this long.mo0ksi

That seems more and more probable with each post I read from this guy.

I bought the game because it was one of the highest reviewed games ever and i wanted something close to perfection. Oh, boy was i wrong...But still i tried to like it, like when i bought a 360 and convinced myself that the graphics didn't suck and that holding a controller in my hands didn't feel like holding a dried turd in my hands. But then it broke down and i got a gaming PC.
