Uncharted 3 vs. Gears 3 - Serious Graphics Analysis

I am not bias, I just tell the truth. Honestly, tell me where was I wrong in my analysis. Uncharted 3 is obviously more realistic, better character models, more varied environments, way better animations, etc... Tell me where was I wrong?

Oh quit the charade we all know you're a raging PS3 fanboy. You're analysis is nothing more than UC3 praising.

Character models - opinion. Yes they look great, but so do Gears's models. Realistic =/= better. Some of us prefer guys with biceps that make Mark McGuire's look like a baby. Some people don't like looking at Lara Croft after a sex change, an accountant, and an old guy with a really bad porn 'stache.

Environments - Opinion. Why do I want oversaturation in a mature game like Uncharted? Might as well be playing Mario. I need manly grey and brown in my mature games.

Special Effects - Also opinion. I'm already pretty much set on Gears 3 because the MP was amazing graphically.

Lighting - Pretty sure UE3 has more advanced lighting in use than Uncharted. Until we get some tech junkies who've looked at the tech behind each we can't have a fact.

Colors - Opinion. Gears is grey and brown with some yellow, Uncharted looks like it came out of a Hasbro factory.

Realism - I don't remember RL having so much damn blur added to everything. I also don't remember having a blur filter be put on someone while they are simply walking. Any realism stride in Uncharted is held back by some kind of blur because it looks ugly in reality. Its not a fair comparison either because Gears is sci-fi.

Frame Rate - Uncharted 2 had frame-rate drops a lot. I was lied to before I played it. When you actually go through that train crash a second time (when you are rescued) there were a lot during the battles. Same with the jungle near the beginning and the end. Gears 3 MP was silky smooth. Not 60FPS smooth but neither is Uncharted.

Animation - I'll admit Drake's animations are really nice, but I don't think someone can swing from one brick to another 10 feet away. Gears is Gears. Nothing bad and nothing extordinary.

Destruction - Scripted, non-dynamic destruction vs no destruction at all. The only category where Uncharted would actually win regardless.

Conclusion - Someone mad.

my suggestion is better play both games than waiste time comparing them :)

UC & Geow are 2 of my fav new IP's this gen.. (probably ever :P )

Again like I said based on gameplay footage I have seen in terms of visuals Gears 3 slightly tops uc3. Again both games look great and things could change when both games are released.

And that lighting...is average. Theres nothing special about those shots.

Lets see. Blur filter instead of natural blur and a need of AA. Even Portal 2 has better looking machinary. Average lighting effect with a weird light beam on the left. Oh, and low-res textures. CGI? That doesn't even look as good as Toy Story 1, or any CGI for that matter.

Not really amazing. A player pushed X and that happened. Scripted sequences oh joy...I thought PS3 owners wanted more games to be games, not interactive movies like MGS4? After seeing that interactive demo from Nintendo with the bird and the Zelda HD demo, this is last gen.

Maybe once you link me something that can rival Crysis on high I'll accept console graphics more. Until then, that is nothing.

you hadn't responded to your main opponent in the threadand your main point at all times is to claim unbias which is impossible every one has bias unless your a bannana and that your telling the truth your not your cherry picking shots from both games to make one look better then the other you are not a neutral 3rd party you have been confirmed cow. you would make the same claims if a lemming did a serious Gears 3 vs uncharted 3 graphical analysis and gears came out on top.

This topic is a complete failure and headed off to the wrong path. UC3 and GeoW look amazing, obviously the best looking games on consoles. Deal with it.

Ok, it´s 2009 again. I predict like 10 threads per day about how Uncharted 3 looks miles better than anything until the day it comes out.

Uncharted 3 looks great, Gears 3 looks great, Crysis 2 looks great and so do many other console games. At this point, the only diference between 360 and PS3 games is the art direction.

Why not post direct feed in game with full hud shots for both games instead of obvious cut scenes? In my opinion the direct feed shots that busabus posted of Crysis 2 on xbox 360 looks better than either of these games.

They've improved everything from gears 2.

Somthing that was definately noticable in Gears 2 was how the textures would load a few seconds after the game started. Hope they fix that in gears 3.

Definitely agree with this. Crysis 2 (360) is the game to beat right now. We'll see how it holds up this fall.

Here is the first ingame shot I found of gears 3 by typing the games name into google. I cant honestly believe people are saying this looks on par with the first Gears game, its easily better. As you can see its a proper in game shot showing the actual game being played and not a cut scene. Perhaps it should be a rule for SW that any graphic thread comparing games must only use native res shots based on in game footage.
