360 = superior gpu and better allocated ram.Clearly Uncharted 3 looks soooooo much better because it's exclusive to the most powerfull system PS3.
gears 3 still looks decent though.

Frame Rate - Out of all the Graphical powerhouses, Uncharted has always had the most solid frame rate. Even Killzone and Crysis dont compete with Uncharted when it comes to Frame Rate. You know when U3 comes out, it will be locked in at a silky smooth 30fps. On the other hand, Gears 3 demo at E3 looked choppy and previous games have had frame rate hiccups.

First time to see "silky smooth" and "30 fps" on the same sentence.
Uncharted 3 does not smoke Killzone 3 in fps. I think you are confusing animations with frames per second. Killzone 3 was pretty locked at 29.5 - 30 range on Lense of truth against Crysis 2 on 360. Where Crysis was sub 720P and dipped in frames.
yea the problem with KZ isnt the frame rate, but rather the slow animations speed. Guerrilla's fault really.Uncharted 3 does not smoke Killzone 3 in fps. Yeah, I would think 60FPS is silky smooth, 30FPS is slow and it's not best for all games.Uncharted 3 vs Gears 3
Character Models- Uncharted offers realistic and detailed characters that are almost life like. Gears has clumsy oveersized characters that overdosed on Barry Bonds HGH supplments and Locust that look like confused Dinosuars.
drakekratos
Um... thanks for totally ignoring art-style and insisting that just because something is more realistic that it is by default "better"
Environments- Uncharted has way, way more variety. Expect to see desert, jungles, realistic urban cities, ocean, vehicles, ice caves, epic skylines, etc. Meanwhile Gears is pretty much limited to only broken down buildings. Uncharted also has much more detail since everything is hand drawn, while Gears re-uses assets from previous games.
drakekratos
Again.... art-style is a CHOICE and isn't any part of a "Serious Graphics Analysis." If you want to argue that you like the art of Uncharted more, fine, but don't parade it around like a technical analysis.
Special Effects- Uncharted 3 has better HDR effects. Better blurring. Better water. Better sand. However, when people think about special effects, they think about fire, smoke, and explosions.... and that is one area where Gears is better than Uncharted. Infact, it's probably the ONLY area that gears excels in when compared to Uncharted.
drakekratos
Gears 3 crushes Uncharted 2 with the Bokeh Depth of Field use alone... Everything else is pretty much up for debate. I'd say that are rather well matched everywhere else.
Lighting- Gears has nice lighting, but Uncharted has better lighting. Period. Watching Nathan Drake walk through the dimly lit cruise ship in the E3 demo was nice, and once he walked under a bright light it was eerily realistic abd became evident that Gears lighting is no match for Uncharted's.
drakekratos
Declaring a winner here is beyond fanboyish. Seriously, both games are so evenly matched it isn't even worth discussing. And neither game is the top of the line in terms of lighting. That honor easily goes to titles like Crysis 2, KZ3 and Battlefield 3. Don't declare a winner here.
Colors- Do you even need an explanation? This is the one area where Uncharted has always killed Gears. While Gears sticks to monotone grey/beige coloring, Uncharted has always flaunted greens, red, and blues. Uncharted uses colors better than any other game. Period.
Realism- Uncharted has perfectly proportioned characters and environments. Gears does not. It's also harder for artists to have a realistic look in there games, and Naughty Dog achieves that. Unreal Engine also gives everything a weird slimy/greasy look to it.
drakekratos
Color and realism are factors of ART-**** Again, stop discussing the art and parading it as a technical analysis. Either this is a Graphics Opinion and you can discuss art, or it is a graphics analysis and you ignore it completely. Make a choice.
Frame Rate- Out of all the Graphical powerhouses, Uncharted has always had the most solid frame rate. Even Killzone and Crysis dont compete with Uncharted when it comes to Frame Rate. drakekratos
Discussing this with unfinished games is pointless. Don't do it.
Animation- Another area where Uncharted is King. Uncharted 2 still has the best animations of any game on console. While Gears has canned and repetitive animations, Uncharted dynamically blends different animations for different body parts. Every time you take cover in Uncharted, there is always a different combination of animations going on between upper body and lower body. There are different running/walking animations depending on the situation in Uncharted. Meanwhile everything in Gears only has one animation.
drakekratos
Fair enough.
Destruction- Uncharted 3 has shown impressive destructability. While it probably isnt as good as Battlefield's, it still looks great and will add new ways to kill enemies in Uncharted. Gears on the other hand does not feature any destructability.drakekratos
Gears will probably feature limited destructibility. Same as Uncharted 3... Uncharted 3 probably does have the edge here though, but without knowing the scope of the entire game, it is impossible to talk about this with any degree of certainty.
Conclusion- Uncharted 3 has better graphics and performs better in every way imaginable except for fire/smoke effects. From a pure eye candy perspective, to a technical perspective, Uncharted 3 reigns supreme over Gears of War 3.
drakekratos
Conclusion: You are a fanboy that can't tell the difference between opinions on art-****and actual technical analysis.
Out of all the years I have lurked this forum this is easily in the top of the "hard to believe" pile.
A thread made of pure speculation and one's own opinion spun to make it come across as facts.
Usually these threads are made with some sort of tongue in cheek mentality, but this one
was made seriously. WOW, just WOW.
Art style being a major swaying point to say one game has better graphics because it is more realistic???!?!?! :?
And this isnt even close to the insanity of SW.Out of all the years I have lurked this forum this is easily in the top of the "hard to believe" pile.

Just wait until you play RAGE. That 60FPS is gonna make everything else seem so slow.
Mmmmmhm, loves me some 60fps.
