Wowza!! Picked up my copy a couple of hours ago, and I have to say... WOWZA.

After all the floppage lately, I've been managing my expectations. After the Uncharted demo I figured 8.5 would be nice.

Now that I am 4 chapters in to the actual game, I have to say that unless there is a considerable drop-off in quality, this should be a AAA. I'm not saying Gamespot will give it AAA, but it is definite AAA material. Naughty Dog have rose to the occasion with this one. It plays as great as it looks, and it sounds as great as it plays. Just an awesome game thus far.

well thats good to hear. it would be pretty bad if ps3 was the only one not to get a AAA exclusive this season. 360 had halo, wii had galaxy, pc had crysis, even ds had zelda.

Well knowing GS and their recent history with the PS3, nothing is guaranteed, but this game has that epic, awesome feel to it that AAA games have traditionally had. They may dock it for not "reinventing the wheel" or whatever they usually do, but I can safely say that this game does things differently. Sure on the surface it looks like Tomb Raider with a dude, but it's so much more than that. The shooting is reminiscent of Gears, the platforming is like God of War meets Pitfall 2007. The story and voice acting work are pretty much as good as it gets. The environments are gorgeous. It out-Tomb-Raider's Tomb Raider by a long shot. It's basically an action/adventure/platformer/third-person-shooter, and its all pulled together brilliantly. Nothing feels out of place or clunky. You aren't doing too much of one thing, too little of another. Great variety, and the important thing is that it's really fun. Controlling Nathan feels great, it's not a chore at all. The shooting is fun, the platforming is fun, walking through dark ruins with flashlights on bantering with Sully is fun. There are "achievements" in the form of rewards. I've gotten 3 or 4. They cover things like "10 Headshots - 9 MM", "50 Enemies PM - 9 MM", and I got one for beating the crap out of a guy called "Brutality" or something. I kind of see what you 360 guys are talking about. I didn't understand the thrill of achievements, but I'm starting to.

This game is just downright impressive. Sony really needs to hype this one with ads and such, because I feel they have a real winner on their hands. Heavenly Sword was too short, Warhawk is too niche, Ratchet & Clank was a bit light on the story. This game delivers everything it said it would, and more.

I am definitely happy. I'm only on chapter 4, but my tentative review would be a AAA. I'll write a full review when I finish the game.

Gamespot is an awful site for reviews. They have good news, features and forums but their written material is garbage.

Eurogamer has greatreviews. They gave Uncharted 9/10 =). They are usually really tough too..

they are probably trying to think of something bad about the game. thats why its taking so long.

Well I just got through playing the game for a few hours. I am just past the Fortress, and all I have to say is that this is one of the best, absolute most fun games that I have ever played. And it is easily the best third person shooter that I have ever played. I do not care what it scores, as this game is just the bomb, pure and simple.

Gameplay wise, the game is perfect, and has a cover system vastly better than that of Gears. And in fact, as far as the shooting goes it is really more comparable to what RE4 did, only it has been improved upon to perfection, and has it's own unique, smooth as silk, tight feel. And you can move while shooting, unlike in RE4. But this game copied nobody, it took what other games have done, improved upon it and made it it's own.

The way Drake moves and dives from cover to cover looks like a guy in an top notch action flick. Throw in some fun as hell platforming, with a perfect shoot and cover system, along with the killer story, voice acting, music and stellar graphics, and this is easily the best game out so far this year in my opinion. The best shootouts I have ever experienced in a single player game. And no I am not just excited because it is new. It's that good.

Oh well, after 9:00 pacific and still no review. They are on the west coast, so I doubt it will be posted later tonight, but who knows. I sure as hell am not going to wait around all night for it either, lol. I already know the game is phenomenal anyway.

It would not suprise me in the least. I really do not care what they score it, as it will not affect my take on it.I just know from having the game and playing it that it is simply killer, and I am just extremely curious to see how they will actually score it.
