Bah! We know you're only kidding. :o
Half-Life? Portal? Come on...
Ok, Portal was pretty cool but the rest meh...This topic is locked from further discussion.
Lazy dev piss me off.........but then really do i want a expansion of a expansion.....left 4 dead and left 4 dead 2. And i find it funny people are trying to defend them.......just about everyone else can make a game on the ps3.........they just a bunch of b***** that let other people make there games and call it their own. Counter strike and Team Fortress anyone..........they are not the greatest or even close to it. If they were the greatest they would put games on the 360. Basically your telling me the greatest devs in the world can't make a game on the ps3 because its too hard..........cry me a ****** river.......or is it because they dont want too.......that means they're being just plain arrogant......most of the people in here defending them sound arrogant.
Yeah smirking in between eating his cheeseburgers and whole pizzas. Valve is a good company but i think alot of people overhype them and their games. And Gabe is an idiot. I remember reading articles about how he utterly detested the ps3 and hoped it would fail. If he and Valve dont want to develop for the ps3 thats their business. But hoping a product fails because you feel it's too difficult is beyond absurd. lot of other developers seem to have grasped how to develop for the system.truly hilarious how defensive people get over this.... i can see Gabe smirking when i read a lot of these replies.

I always thought that the workers at Valve we're very smart at making games, if PS3 is too complicated for them then... wow, they are primitive developers.
But this decision helps me out on what console I'll be getting in the long run *cough 360 cough*
That's what I was thinking, too... this is just a phony excuse to not develop on the PS3. Thanks, Valve. Looks like someone hasn't bothered to read the thread.[QUOTE="GodofBigMacs"][QUOTE="-Pred-Alien-"]Thats funny, other developers are doing just fine:?Dead-Memories
Well, all the PS3 guys have high end PCs, so this really isn't a problem.
AAllxxjjnn
Seriously, they mention how they would get the superior pc version when it is pc/360 multiplat. Would not make sense why they would rather get the ps3 version if there was one.
Well, the PS3 architecture is a total unecessarily bloated mess. And considering how badly coded is the Source engine. It doesn't surprise me that a mediocre developer can't figure out the disaster the PS3 is.

Congratulations in one sentence you managed to bash ps3 and one of the best game developers Here is a cookie Valve are great ps3 is great ( yet expensive ) and you are a troll Also considering source engine runs well on my old pc with an ati x1550 at mostly high settings as well as on my laptop with integrated graphics i wouldnt callsource engine badly codedWell, the PS3 architecture is a total unecessarily bloated mess. Calling some a troll is trolling.

However, there wer also long loading times, sound stuttering and other issues. Those aren't noticeable now because technology has advanced. I like how everyone thinks they jsut don't learn how to do it.
Honestly, do you know how to develop games?
Multiplatform developers have two different teams for the Ps3 and 360, Valve has no team dedicated to the Ps3.
God, reading this thread made me want to choke about 15 people at least.
Sometimes the same team is in charge of both versions but have one or two people really focusing on one or another. I read that Crytek was doing that.I like how everyone thinks they jsut don't learn how to do it.

[QUOTE="3picuri3"]it's ridiculous how people can be so convinced that they know what something is, even in the face of blatant evidence and readily accessible information to the contrary. makes me smile :) lol that's not dynamic lighting/shadows , that's a flashlight casting a decal/stain glass the shadows are baked into source engine's textures you can see shadows below on first floor if ur below a player on a second story building. another alt account? will you make one more when you admit you're wrong? we can keep providing examples and you can keep denying if you want though.. doesn't bother me in the least.[QUOTE="BoloTheGreat"]

.... valve has made some of the most amazing, technology-pushing games.
they just don't like ps3.
it's not an excuse. its a thumbs down to sony. and excuse would be making up reasons why they can't or wont do it. valve flat out said they're not supporting Sony due to their arrogance and unnecessarily complicated hardware :) that's called a reason, a dis, an insult, not an excuse. PSdual_wielder
claiming its 'too complicated' isn't an implying the 'i cant do it' portion?
no, not at all. it's not an excuse whatsoever. an excuse is something used when put to a task and refusing under false pretense. valve is their own entity, given the prospect of making a multiplat for PS3. not obliged. it's a refusal, with a reason. it would be like you working in design and turning down a job on the side to do something you'd have to be trained to do - obviously you're not making an excuse if you turn it down, you're giving a reason as to why it doesn't make sense for you to do it on a reward vs effort scale. excuse requires obligation. without obligation the term means nothing. simple english stuff :P
another example would be a contractor turning down a contract because he would have to train up to take it. if he has enough work without it, and doesn't want / need to train up, he isn't making an excuse, he is turning down work.

I share the exact same feeling. People who have no idea about porting or developing games bashing one of the best companies for not putting games on their system exist only on System Wars.
Why would a PC dev want to develop for the PS3 anyways? Every PS3 owner owns a high end gaming PC, so they can get all of Valve's games there.
I'm not standing up for the PS3 (Believe me: There are enough people doing that.), but you really don't need a high end PC to play any of their games. This laptop I am typing on right now wasn't bought for gaming at all, but it was perfectly capable of running every single one of their games at a good frame-rate. I'm glad that one of the developers that neglects both of my consoles (Wii & PS3) has unbelieveably low system reqirements, especially since their games are superior on the PC, anyway.Well, all the PS3 guys have high end PCs, so this really isn't a problem.

well do you disagree? an excuse by definition is a reason given for non-participation when under obligation or request. this isn't that sort of situation. valve is a business that can decide to make games for PS3 or not. just like a tire company can make tires for one car or another, or both. the only difference is this is system wars. where people like to ignore some of the facts that exist in the real world :)
this isn't an attack on you at all. i just don't like this lazy dev / excuse myth that is perpetuated in SW and some other forums.

Dont really care, its no news that Valve dont like the PS3... i'll probably pick L4D 2 when it hits a lower price for my 360..

So honestly do you really think PS3 owners should worry just because Valve wont release L4D 2 on PS3??? with all the games both exclusive & multiplats coming out, i'm sure Ps3 'only' owners wont miss much Valve's title(s)... if Valve dont have enough resources to work also on PS3 its their internal problem and not something all devs face otherwise we wouldnt see 1 single multiplat on PS3..

If they don't want to waste time on trying to figure out the baffling architecture of the PS3 doesn't mean they're lazy, it just means they aren't a fan of wasting time. Valve has usually been good about releasing quality titles in succession. To call them lazy would be ignorant at best, the devs that have actually had the will to ATTEMPT to figure out the ordeal that is the PS3 were usually funded by Sony themselves, so we can expect a lot of this in the future. People said that in 2006...Please Log In to post.
