Both points you made are wrong. It would only be right if you only included this Gen for PC. 2nd gen and up the PC has mre Spli-screen co-op and it has mre games with single screen play.Another48hours

Can't say I can verify that. I don't have the time to go compiling a list comparing the 2nd gen of consoles to PC titles from then to now. But at least according to Co-optimus's charts for this gen, the PC has been slacking with splitscreen co-op games.

Of course, being that you put forth absolutely no evidence, I don't really believe you either.

Xbox 360: 86

Playstation 3: 73

Wii: 35 (Surprised me, probably has more games where the screen isn't divided though)

I was a PC first gamer for 20+ years then switched to console first about two years ago. The main reason I switched was convenience. With PCs you have to determine if your setup can run a game well at what settings or if at all, if you have the right CPU, GPU, Ram, etc., and if your GPU is even supported (or properly supported).

I don't have to worry about any of that with consoles. As I've grown older convenience has become a lot more important.

Simplicity, some people just wants to play games without going through all the hassle. Not everybody has basic computer knowledge, know how to install new drivers, install a games even, etc.

So, they have 10.000.000x better gameplay, which is the only thing that matters

And of course PC has zero exclusives, while xbox 360 has Dark Souls, Witcher 2, Mass Effect 1, SKyrim, Fable, Halo, Gears, Bastion, Dust, Lost Odyssey etc

In short, there is zero point to get a gaming PC over a xbox 360, unless you have all the free time and money in the world

Because PC will kill both your budget and free time with installations, upgrades, viruses, game breaking bugs etc

Games are designed for the pad, so they get 10.000.000x better controls than PC games

So, they have 10.000.000x better gameplay, which is the only thing that matters

Don't have to be knowledgable about the tech.

Games are guaranteed to work 99% of the time.

Consoles are portable. Good luck lugging around a tower, a monitor, and all the little attachments. (My cousin's tower weighs 50 pounds and hasn't moved in 3 years.)

Have a 6-10 year shelf life without needing to upgrade.

No one argues about technological limitations more often than the games unless they are moronic fanboys or hermits.

Downloadable games aren't collectible (down the line, you can sell hard copies)

Nintendo (hate the company or not, you can't say the games are terribly designed. Also I find controls on Keyboard or PC controller are often inferior to a Nintendo designed controller on Emulators. By the time you say a USB attachment for the controller to use on a PC, you're arguing the superiority of the controller to yours AND the need to by additional hardware.)

Controls are a b*tch to learn on PC. Steep learning curve. (and they are different for every game it seems. No universal layout)

Consoles don't have to be configured, set-up, put-together, or require a working knowledge of every possible error known to man. Just take out of box, plug in, and start playing.

• Easier to carry from one room to the living room (good for my puny kiddie console body)

1. I did not state that OnLive is not a part of PC gaming, in fact, I believe it is another aspect of the platform (considering it runs the PC version of games). However, your use of netbooks for ease makes no sense, when we are talking about PC gaming. They use the same OS regardless, which is more convoluted than a console GUI (for obvious reasons).
2. I'm specifically talking game compatability. There are issues across the boards with games, so please don't act as though compatability is worse on consoles than on PC. The PC is far more open, which is an inherent advantage, however it comes at a cost. Again, overall, is PC compatability (overall) worse than consoles?
3. If we want to count the games that only use a classic gamepad as the control scheme, it's likely we'll reach a figure that is above 99.5%. I don't feel like counting, though. At the end of the day it's incredibly small (I won't even both arguing the point the the classic controller is a gamepad). True, I did forget the Kinect. So, at this point, we've merely come to the point of arguing over the final figure (which is likely still over 90%), which is incredibly high. At the end of the day, many people prefer controllers. Just as many prefer the KB/M or other control schemes offered by the PC.

Considering the majority of PCs in the world which far out number consoles I figured Windows current standard GUI wouldn't be that much of a big deal but I guess Windows 8 will eliminate this problem

Installing drivers is easy as hell go on AMD or Nvidia's website have them auto detect your system config, watch them pull up the latest driver, click download, than install it. This only takes like 2 minutes.

PS3 games require installing, and to some extent for Xbox 360 if you don't want pop ups, and longer loading times. I hope people don't buy DLC or XBL, PSN, or Wiiware games. Wii is the only platform that doesn't have installation for disk.

I think it's like this:
Consoles are gaming laptops.
Because gaming laptops tend to suck (overheating issues, cost, etc.).
And PC's aren't very portable.
Consoles are more or less gaming laptops. (Just not playable on a train or airplane.)
You can easily take a console to a friend and play there. Or on vacation and play there.

That is their only advantage aside from exclusives.

That said. Exclusives are the main draw. They are the reason to buy these platforms. (Unless you can only have a single platform during one generation.)

It's not a problem. It is a more complex GUI compared to consoles, for obvious reasons.
