I played it (the 1st one on PC). Its not more open than Uncharted when it comes to level design
It most definitely is more open than Uncharted. Part of the series' best aspects is how you can have two different routes of one battle. Really makes replaying a level worth it, or even better, playing the game with a friend> Implying Gears isnt on rails...

Yep, Uncharted also has the vertical factor and has lots of verticality to its levels, So Uncharted IS a LOT BIGGER then Gears is. Uncharted is a lot more open then Gears is. In Gears you can only stay ground level. In Uncharted you can always go vertical That also means Uncharted has to account for more and has to render a lot more in its levels, again due to the vertacality, Yet Uncharted still looks better then Gears, while being more open in its game world, and while having much better gameplay etc Gears of War is one of the most boring, static, repetitive, and restrictive shooters i have ever played Gears ACTUALLY is on rails compared to a more open and wider game like Uncharted. Its crazy to see how come Gears doesnt get criticized for it. Why is that? p.s 360 fanboys do nothing but blindly hate on Uncharted. Its pathetic. Its very telling at the same time though You dont spend as much time as Uncharted haters do trying to discredit something you think is a joke. They feel Uncharted is worth all of their time lol. That tells you how great Uncharted truly is> Implying Gears isnt on rails...

[QUOTE="Blabadon"]The Village level was boring in Uncharted 2 and contained the worst textures from the entire game.epicgameplayerYou are just as delsuional of an xbot as robbotopple is Really think about that for a second Good now you need to come to that realization. Stop being an xbot! p.s I will tell you what boring is though. Gears of War is BORING. And yet you parise that on rails boring game So your opinion means nothing and will always mean nothing! You understand that xbot! You are simply delsuional I always back up what i say and give legitmate reasons too While you just go, "its boring, it sucks etc because i say so" That level is amazing in Uncharted 2. Watch the vid. Read my post. Nothing from any awful Gears game can touch it lol. Thats for sure! Also, Uncharted 2 was from 2009 and still looks better then Gears Judgment lol
So he's an Xbot but you are perfectly unbias calling Gears on rails? Please shut up, you're annoying. And for the record, a lot of rail shooters are a lot more gameplay intensive and demanding than anything in Uncharted or Gears.
He has issues. epicgameplayer
Uncharted 3 was much better then any Gears games ive played. I will tell you that right now. Gears is complete and total grabage. Deal WITH THAT xbot! Also, thee will be 5 Gears games on the 360 this gen INCLUDING the Kinect Gears game thats set to release. Massive LOL at that Mean while there has ONLY been 3 Uncharted games on the PS3 this gen. Gears is far far and away more rehashed and milked! Never mind that each Unchared sequel has brought something new to the series to the table, and offered improvements etc Mean while Gears has been stagnat and in fact has managed to also get worse with each and every sequel its had epicgameplayer sending to my inbox in a message in response to a locked thread
You admitted in your troll thread a while back that you havent even played more then an hour of Uncharted 3 lol Any opinions you may have regarding Uncharted 3 hold NO weight! You were called out numerous times for being a troll in that thread too You remember that dont you. No one here takes your opinions seriously. Realise that. By the way, Gears and Halo dont even have mediocre gameplay. Its a step below that. I can't really think of any Sony games that have good gameplay. Even Uncharted the supposed best is on rails. Journey is a just press forward and win. What else is there?

Unique gameplay and experiences that could not be found on Other systems on PS3.
- Uncharted 2 & 3
- Infamous 1 & 2
- Heavy Rain
- Unfinished Swan
- Journey
- God Of War 3
- Ratchet and Clank Future Series
- Resistance 3
- Killzone 2 & 3
- MLB: The Show series
Still to Come
- Beyond Two Souls
- The Last Of Us
These all had great gameplay. Maybe none where killer sellers like Halo, but they did PS3 system justice.
I can name a load of 3rd party exclusives also for PS3 if you like with great gameplay? Don't be mad because your Xbox 360 is already dead.
Demon's Souls isn't a first party game tho.Sony owns the IP; They might not of developed it but it is still a first party game.[QUOTE="locopatho"][QUOTE="BPoole96"]
Demon's Souls has better gameplay than any Xbox exclusives. SMG probably tops it though because Nintendo had pretty much perfected 3D platforming back with Super Mario 64
Nintendo_Ownes7
Edit* You would say it was 2nd Party but technically 2nd party doesn't really exist. Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft would just call it first party if the IP is owned by them but the developer is 3rd party.
Nintendo called Sin & Punishment Star Successor 1st Party eventhough Sin & Punishment is developed by Treasure and they are 3rd party.
No, 2nd party does exist. There are games that exist in that limbo between TOTALLY OWNED and TOTALLY FREE. Mario is completely Nintendo. COD is completel 3rd party. Brawl and F Zero GX and Star Fox and Mario Strikers are Nintendo games produced by 3rd parties. Which makes them second party.[QUOTE="MakeMeaSammitch"]

Two corridors, where one could be on a different side of the battlefield, or even above it, is way more open than one more linear corridor. Fact. You said this:Part of the series' best aspects is how you can have two different routes of one battle. Really makes replaying a level worth it, or even better, playing the game with a friendblabadonYou were proven wrong! It was shown to you that the 2 or 3 times you get to choose between corridor A and corridor B in Gears, It offeres YOU NOTHING new, and does not make a difference then in that playthrough or in a second playthrough etc No incentive to replay! The single player store in Uncharted gives you a lot more of an actual incentive to replay its superior single player etc. In fact, Gears is even worse for that, because it fakes the illusion of "choice" with a pointless and nonsensical, "Choose which linear and scripted corridor you want to go through in Gears, even though both paths lead to the exact same thing and nothing different happens" Its so blatant and insulting. Then you basically admmited you were FULL OF IT by saying "buuu buuu two scripted corridors in Gears is better then one" You lost and you lost badly. Deal with it xbot! Also, Enemy counters are so bland, uninspired, and tedious in Gears. Gears is very scripted. Its the same old, same old of - pop shoot, pop shoot until x number of enemies are dead, Then it becomes a matter of, Are you bored yet, Okay now advance to the next scripted and tedious arena battle/corridor in Gears where you do nothing more then pop shoot - pop shoot all over again etc Its almost like Gears is purposely testing your will. Then some where in there you get control taken away from you, which that would normally be a good thing to get away from Gears' awful and tedious gameplay, But then you are now forced to watch awful cut scenes in Gears It IS torture lol. Gears is one of the worst games ever made. Such poorly designed in every aspect. Mean while, enemy encounters in Uncharted are so much more thought out, and so much more enjoyable. You are dropped into some big and open levels in Uncharted and you are given the tools to do what you want. You have more options in how you want to tackle enemies. Do you stealth, do you go rambo? And at any time, you can go vertical in Uncharted to get the drop on enemies from above etc So you can stay ground level or go vertical etc And the level design in Uncharted really encourages it and makes such great use of the vertical nature of the levels Uncharted 3 has STUNNING level design. So does Uncharted 2 Level design in Gears is awful to boot. Same goes for Halo now
[QUOTE="soulitane"][QUOTE="epicgameplayer"]Gears of War is such an awful game. I cant count how many times i was playing Gears and then the game would abruptly take all control away from me and then force me to watch a cut scene It was like come on!!!! The shooting segments were already as tedious and as barebones as it gets in Gears, not fun to play at all, and NOW Gears is taking more control away from me and is forcing me to watch awful cut scenes too? F that! All the Gears games have been literal garbage through and through- Gears is generic, mindless, milked to death, dudebro shooter garbage Gears of War, like Halo needs to DIE off already. There have been enough lacklaster Gears and Halo games as it is Gears of War especially is so awful that i wish the very worst in life happens to the sick and sadistic people at Epic games who created this awful franchise to torment us with. Cliffy B is the anti christ for creating Gears as far as im concerned. Gears is that awful. LOL you know you are agreeing with robbotopple the crazed Sony hater, right? When robbotopple holds the same position as you, thats when you know you are wrong and should re-evaluate lol Anyway, The fact you are calling Uncharted 2 over rated, now means its being criminally under rated! Uncharted is rated right where it should be, as one of the best new IPs of this generation. Uncharted 2 is one of the greatest games of all time (due to the impact it had) And Uncharted 3 is one of the best games of this generation (mechanically I think its better then Uncharted 2. The highs in Uncharted 3 surpass the highs in Uncharted 2 too IMO etc ) The most over rated franchise is Gears of War! Don't even get me started on how aweful Gears is, and how much of a shallow repetitive shooter Gears is. The story and dialouge in Gears just being horrendous too. Halo is also over ratedI agree about uncharted, one of the most over rated games ever, but journey was legitimately very good.

Part 2 from where i last left off... BUT on the off chance that you snap out of it...or actually are serious, then here is some friendly advice, Keep playing Uncharted 3. It picks up significantly! Trust me! Even then, I loved the first quarter to half of Uncharted 3. Playing as a young Drake was awesome(that was good backstory right there) And the way the story was being fleshed out, and progressing, I loved it. Ya' know, Not everything has to have the mindless and constant shooting of a Gears and Halo game to be exciting! I get the feeling it was that same douchbro/ dudebro xbox 360 gamer with ADD who was complaining about the first quarter to half of Uncharted 3. Crying that it was too "boring." Boo hoo, appreciate that early part of Uncharted 3 for what it was - a cool way to flesh the story out and get you excitied for what was to come etc. It was a story builder etc. You still always had player control too. And its not like any of it ever dragged on either. Things still continued to move along at a fast pace. It never draged on or moved at a snails pace like the first half of Assassins Creed 3 did etc. Its not even close to that in fact lol. Now the first half of Assassin's Creed 3 was bad. It was like a 7 hour prologue lol. It actually was boring. A criticism there would be warranted. (The first quarter to half of Uncharted 3 is like the most epic gaming ever compared to the first half of Assassin's Creed 3 lol) P.S Just to quickly talk about what i was saying earlier, The douchbro 360 gamer with ADD who only plays Gears, Call of Duty, and Halo is a lost cause! Gears and Halo have fried their brains, so when they play something like Uncharted 3, they cant appreciate what a great first quarter to half Uncharted 3 had, and they lose interest. Its also why 360 gamers always try to discredit a unique experience like Heavy Rain. Its due to too much Gears of War, Call of Duty, and Halo frying their brains with constant and mindless shooting over loud provocative music Gears and Halo are literally like murderous rituals of kill kill kill. Anyway the point is, Uncharted 3 picks up. Give it another shot. You wont regret it if you truly give it another go. Leave all silly expectations at the door. Just PLAY it. Im not kidding when i tell you that Uncharted 3 is like the most epic roller coaster ride of your life. It would hit 0 to 60 mph in an instant! Things would plateau, and then BOOM, a HIGH would be hit again! Just to give you an idea of what you are missing, To be continued....You admitted in your troll thread a while back that you havent even played more then an hour of Uncharted 3 lol Your opinions hold no weight regarding Uncharted 3 You were called out numerous times for being a troll in that thread too You remember that dont you. Part 3 Before i continue, Only playing Uncharted 3 for an hour and then using that limited amount of time you had with the game to blindly hate on it IS wrong on so many levels That is what makes you an ignornat 360 fanTROLL Why dont you play Uncharted 2 too? But just to give you an idea of what you are missing out on with Uncharted 3 1. The shipyard /pirate level in Uncharted 3 is one of the best levels of any third person game in existence. You can jump from little boat to boat while taking enemies out, and the thing is, enemies are aggressive, SO YOU HAVE to be on the run. So It makes for some awesomely fast on the fly moments as you rush from boat to boat (if thats what you want to do) while trying to avoid enemies or take them out At any time you can also jump into the water for cover and even swim around. In the water, you can even manuever into good positions to get a drop on an enemy. You can shoot from the water... You can even sneak up on enemies as you jump out from the water to suprise them like an aligator lol, then either shoot or engage in hand to hand combat That segment interweaves traversal with gun play so flawlessly, and you have so many options in how you want to tackle the enemies. The shipyard/pirate level in Uncharted 3 is such an exhilarating level to play on a pure gameplay front. Its a nearly sand box like level in gameplay - in the options you have to aproach situations or enemies. Thats very rare of a TPS. Thats why Uncharted 3 is at the top of the heap gameplay wise also. 2. There is also the chatatue level in Uncharted 3. Its such a smooth segment where you are platforming, shooting, engaging in hand to hand combat. Its like it all comes together to create one unique play style.... Oh and did i mention that you are doing this all as the chatatue is being burned down around you IN GAMEPLAY... Kicks things up quite a notch lol 3. Then theres also the airplane segment which is unbelievable 4. The desert sequence is breath taking and envokes emotion. You begin to feel what Drake is feeling. Oh and the desert level was also badass too. 5. The gun battle on the horses was EPIC. Being able to jump from horse to horse in a middle of a chase in mid gun fight. It was amazing. Thrilling! And there are even more momemts in Uncharted 3 you dont want to miss out on! Uncharted 3 IS a friggen awesome game. Never understood all the insane and irrational hate for it. Xbots am crying is why! Uncharted 3 is a CLASSIC! F@ck the Uncharted 3 haters, And especially F*CK the delusional Uncharted 3 haters on Neogaf Might as well go all the way with this now! Lastly, The Halo series has awful, old-dinasour-like, archiac gameplay. No iron sights, auto aim out the ass etc. Halo practically aims the guns for you! Its pathetic. Halo is a noob casual FPS for FPS boobs. Nothing more. Halo is milked to death, auto aim FPS garbage (just like how Gears is TPS garbage) Hell, Uncharted is third person and its shooting takes more skill..
