What are your top three contenders for Game of the Year so far?

It's been a good year for gaming so far, with major releases on every platform, and some great, probably generation defining games already. In this year of so many great games, what are, in order, your top three contenders for Game of the Year so far?

Here's mine:

• Fire Emblem Awakening
• Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
• Shin Megami Tensei IV

Special shout out to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and Bioshock Infinite.

Full disclosure, I still have not played games like Animal Crossing New Leaf, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, and The Last of Us to any appreciable degree, which is why they are not in my list. I am sure at least one of them would be had I spent more time with them.

come award season? The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite, and Grand Theft Auto 5: That game can be broken and it will still be a GOTY contender on so many sites/publications.

Personally: It's The Last of Us so far. Bioshock Infinite is second and I guess Metal Gear Rising Revengeance(good game, but not really even in the discussion). Antichamber is pretty neat, and I want to play The Swapper as that looks neat as well. Also need to get around to Ni No Kuni and Metro Last Light(although that looks like boredom fuel everytime I look at footage of it).

As far as something coming out later this year I think The Witness could be really cool. Big game wise I hope Watchdogs is legit. Wonderful 101 also as Kamiya is usually pretty legit, but I don't know.

These 3 are far better than anything else I have played. Keep in mind I do not own handhelds. I personally think Metro Last Light is better than all 3 of those I listed but I know it has no shot.

right now just the Last of Us, can't really put bioshock infinite in my game of the year. It had a great story but the gameplay and level design was just all over the place for me.

The Last of Us

This is the one I believe should win. Other games I've played are too far behind it to be contenders. 

Here at GS? Any game scoring at least a 9.0 is in contention. The most recent 9.0 (at Gamespot) game I'm playing right now is Metro: Last Light. I find it fun. But, it doesn't quite feel like GOTY material to me.

This is Gamespot's Forum. Should we go with their reviews, broken as they may seem? Sure. Like it or not, the same people who did the reviews will be deciding Gamespot's GOTY. I'm sure they'll say if you don't like it, go elsewhere.

That logic is highly flawed, that's like someone saying you want to buy a car that's not made in America? well to bad you're living in America and you should only buy American things.

Gamespot is an internet gaming information and publishing website among god only knows how many other gaming sites, this is a site where we can discuss EVERYTHING about gaming, even from other websites. There's no disclaimer on the front page of the site that says "Everything discussed here shall not leave this website or any of it's affiliates nor shall a person discuss any information from any other site here".

We can freely impress our feelings (to a degree, that doesn't conflict the TOU) if we agree or disagree with a persons review/scoring of a game. Just like if I score a game a 9.5, you don't have to agree with that score, share my same likes and dislikes of said game. You're free to decide what that game is to you.
