Wasn't me that touched any settings. I don't think the brightness is the issue here, especially since brightness wouldn't help those textures. You just use bullshots with photomode and filters.

I was merely showing why Digital Foundry refused to acknowledge UC4 beats PC graphics. The last two pages show a rather hefty and varying amount of gameplay shots, almost impossible to call cherry picking, and most with a HUD. Meanwhile you keep posting filters of the same rooms. It's safe to say this case has been closed.

Right, reminds me when I first got myself a PS3 and played GOW 3 for the first time(bought into the hype and bullshots), I thought there was something wrong with my TV...the degrade is real. I'm sure UC 4 looks fabulous...within console standards and expectations. But against PC's best...urm nah thats not happening. Learnt my lesson.

Same thing happened to me when I played Uncharted 2 and GoW3 on PS3. I was severely underwhelmed. "O.o This is it? This is all the hype?"

Witcher 3 pc beats uncharted 4 with ease.

Was about to say the same thing, the worst screens from Witcher 3 look better than average screens from UC4. The best UC4 shots look good but nothing amazing or groundbreaking aside from character models and animations. As you can see from the pics above, it looks good, but I'd say ROTTR beats it.

What does the 10/10 have to do with graphics? The game got a 10 because there are like 5 games in its genre. Really not much competition.

I'm almost tempted to say I like Far Cry 3's foliage better than UC4's.

Also, MP images of UC2 and UC3 that were grabbed from within the game showed images before any post-processing was applied. That's why they look washed out or have too much brightness. Perhaps, UC4 is the same.

I would say it's fair to allow some gamma correction so that a more accurate representation of what the image looked like to the player can be made.

Do you have proof of this? At this point the tards disagreeing with DF are just posting photomodes and calling anything else "cherry picked", "compressed", or "shopped", behaving like rabidly obsessed fanboys as if everyone on the internet putting up actual gameplay shots, including PS4 fans at Gaf, are up to no good.

There are tons of games like those... Every simulator building game can be pitted against each other. Also, this is the new scoring system that Gamespot uses. The old system, you may have had a point, but they are not on that system anymore.

How many linear 3rd person adventure/cinematic games are there? I suppose you could count Gears of War... So, that would bring it up to 10 games. Am I missing any?

Maybe they are missing some post processing, but that doesn't negate the fact that the bullshots posted in here with highly detailed characters are severely misrepresenting actual gameplay footage.

The models and textures are much less detailed in an actual gameplay mode outside of photomode.

Meanwhile, this is PC The Witcher 3 in realtime gameplay - no cutscene.

It looks like UC4 images have the same problem with earlier Uncharted games. A raw screen grab vs what it should look like. If I'm not mistaken, the UC games have controls for adjusting brightness and contrast. At least, I've used the ones on UC2 and UC3. However (in-game) screen grabs default to the raw images.

That looks pretty dark, but it does look better. The textures are still, for the most part, pretty low res, and same with the character model.

How did you do that, by the way? Did you just raise the contrast and lower the brightness?

Nope. I used strictly a lower gamma setting via Paintshop Pro 8. I set it to around 60% of the current gamma.

Nothing can be done about the textures. But, the images should be adjusted to what the player sees.

Gamma is a bit different, but it doesn't help overall. It's a bit nicer to look at, but it definitely does not beat PC in a good amount of games. Thanks for that, by the way.

Do you think 60% is a bit too dark? This shot looks way darker than it should be... And, I agree. It looks good, but definitely not the king.

It could be a higher percentage. It depends on how the game screen looked to you. Just like Crysis/Warhead on the PC, you can adjust UC2/UC3's brightness and contrast. Not sure about UC4. But, if you want to play the earlier games really dark and ugly, you can.
