oh my.. You are right, that one tree in fable looks a gen ahead of that one tree in crysis, how could we have been so blind. The only reason i upgraded my pc and bought crysis was to see that one tree too. I could have just bought the more powerful 360 and waited for fable then sat and stared at that one tree instead with no aa and no af in glorious 720p. Thank you so much for making me realise the error of my way's. My pc is now on e bay and my 360 on order with a pre order on fable 2, can't wait to see that tree on my big tv.Ok, post a IN GAME pic with a tree close by, like that
I will be waiting
BTW cheap excuses do not make Crysis look better, only worst
saolin323
omg, what game are those top few screenshots from? They look truly amazing. Don't think much of the last bottom screenshot though, looks kinda last gen, is that a different game or something? So, those are the trees i got from the close up pics i found
saolin323
[QUOTE="saolin323"]Should i take that as defeat, damange control, or what ?
I mean, if you say Crysis tree looks better, then you MUST be out of your mind IMO

Everything you say is your opinion. Everything we have shown and know is fact. Hey go email yeril and tell him his game looks like crap compared to fable2. I dare you.
Hey does anyone have Yerils Email so I can send him this topic?????
Exactly!
Hopefully you see the truth now. Fable 2 does have better art direction but crysis crushes it from a technical standpointSo, those are the trees i got from the close up pics i found

The truth is that the textures in Crysis trees are a mere joke comparing to Fable 2 ones, and the leaves look laughable too
So, technically or not, Fable 2 trees look SO VASTLY better, that even comparing them looks like comparing a PS2 game to a 360 best graphics game, yes, those trees look THAT bad IMO

The trees look REALISTIC. what do you not get about that. Fable 2=fantasy Crysis=realism. If a PS2 game with amazing art direction like Okami or sotc was compared to crysis what would have better technical graphics? Real life look pretty bad since it has no artistic look to itJesus tapdancing Christ, enough is enough. Sorry if I blow up someone's internet with this:

its being disputed in another thread right now...so yeah.
Let me guess, Saolin?
yep, and he should know his argument failed when people are voting for fable 2 just to sound stupid like "whcares above"
Fable 2 just looks a lot better, just get over it, and stop the damage control
Yea right when over what 100 revies disagrre with you, and just to tell you many people don't even like fable's art style and if you say that opinion well guess what you saying fable looks good is an opinion.

hey catt is that ur comp doing those graphics? if so i think urs is really good.
Sorry, but those Fable 2 trees look so last gen comparing to Crysis ones, it is a joke now, trying to defend a game that can no longer be defended, it just has bad looking trees, as i proved with picssaolin323
Fixed.

I like the fact that there are no more arguments, but just damage control
It was obvious, after those Crysis pics with those HORRIBLE trees
So, i think Crysis does not look that good anymore, right ? In fact those are indeed some of the blurriest, messiest trees, with some terrible textures i have ever seen
The hype for Crysis graphics is based on pre-rendered editor exported pics, maybe Crysis 2 will play looking like that, maybe
Desparation is a bad thing, maybe you will post more real forest pics to try and say Fable 2 looks worst ?
The lighitng does look impressive in the pic, but the trees are still subpar, only the low palm trees look great TBH
And why does this pic have no HUD, i would love to see an FPS meter too in that resolution, could you do my that favour ?

How thick headed are you? Crysis is aiming at REALISM. Fable 2 has a fantasy look to it. Falbe 2 has what you call ARTISTIC DESIGN, therefore Fable 2 has better ART DIRECTION then CrysisLemmings just stop. For the love of god there is no way fable 2 looks better. And then you pull crap out of your butt like artistic design. I can't believe you would actually argue.ndrewn
I never said better, i said comparable in SOME aspects, like lighting, trees. goliage, huge worlds etc

1) you consider 1 Tree Trunk you have seen to be "Comparable Foilage" to Crysis = Fail.
2) Lighting, so? tons of games have similar lighting, only difference is Crysis has DX10 lighting effects which are undeniable better in action, which Fable 2 cannot emulate.
3) Again 1 tree trunk, the whole Trees in Crysis look very realistic, the only reason most of them are so thin is so that you can shoot them down, that and its tropical, the Trees in Fable are stagnant and are typical looking.
4) Huge Worlds? are you really this delusional? what proof do you have? Peter Moleux rambelings? , It wont match the rendering level of Crysis, even 360 Oblivion couldnt come close to the PC's and failed to meet the PS3's in this area.
SOME? how about NONE? they are completely different styles, ontop of that Fable 2 is technically inferior in every single convievable way.

1. 120.000 leaf trees, real shadows, stunning textures in cranches, VASTLY ahead of Crysis trees actually, and there is a huge number of them around in case you did not notice
2. No, only Crysis, Fable 2, Alan Wake and Far Cry 2 do volumetric lighting, and light beams hat are real time filtered through geometry, not "all" games as you say, simply because you do not know the difference, as any serious PC fan, will confirm it to you
3. The trees in Fable 2 are NOT typical looking, are stunning looking, the confusing and blurry trees in Crysis is what we get in most games to this date
4. What proff ? Developers confirming this game is NOTHING like Fable and totally free roaming, a fly by with the biggest in game city i have seen, a pic of a huge forest, and a free roaming HUGE area in Video Diary #4
Now let me add something, considering the new pics with HUD above
5. The lighting is rather impressibe in Crysis indeed, but so is Fable 2 one, does ABSOLUTLY similar effects
6. The shadows on grass look equally impressive in both, BUT the grass in Crysis looks like it was painted with photoshop or something, really mediocre stuff in the actual in game pics, and not downscaled ones that look 10x crisper, so the MYTH of those crisp pics is now debumnked i guess
7. We are still comparing Crysis, after a host of mods, tweaking, updates, drivers, to a totally unfinished with 9 more months to go game, that IN THIS STATE does already better grass, trees and as amazing lighting as Crysis !!!!
So, let's wait until we have some Fable 2 finilised areas, to move this conversation further, looking like that now, could well surpass Crysis in overall look by release IMO
over the top Fable 2 praise
saolin323
Do you really have any hard evidence to back your claims? This ofcourse is a rhetoric question, no ofcourse not you don't have any hard evidence because the game isn't released. We don't even have any decent footage. Everything you've shown us makes the game look even poorer than Oblivion and no nine months won't improve the graphics.
So my real question is as follows: Why did you have to spoil Fable 2 for everyone? Fable 2 was always about the gameplay and artistic design. Not the undeniably weak textures, draw distance and mediocre lighting.

Where are you getting this 120,000 leaf trees, real shadow,s and other garbage? I can't believe that I have to see this topic for 3 weeks now. Please stop bumping this topic. It was funny the first day you fakeboy this stuff, now it is getting tired out and boring. I want to see one place where you get your info. Just one.. What proff ? Developers confirming this game is NOTHING like Fable and totally free roaming, saolin323The developers? The same ones who lied about the singing sword, growing trees, dynamic aging, and free roaming the FIRST TIME AROUND? Its going to take a lot more than that. All we've seen of the cities is a flyby and a brawl taking place in the square. We have NO IDEA how much of that city is actually going to be accessible.

Real shadows, like Crysis has on grass
120.000 leaf trees
http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/02/07/fable-2-does-not-use-speedtree/
"Sam from Lionhead Studios sent us a message to not only inform us that Fable 2 does NOT use IDV's SpeedTree software, but that their team is building their foliage and trees in-house and from scratch. Though, Sam did confirm that, early on, the dev team did look into using SpeedTree for Fable 2, but decided it wouldn't be right for their RPG baby. Oh, and just in case you were wondering, we've been told that each and every one of Fable 2's non-SpeedTree trees have approximately 120,000 leaves dangling from their branches. Oh, friggin' yeah."

Some more stuff, that you will probably not believe either, but here it is
'Dynamic Environments'
When playing RPGs, the feeling is "I don't seem to make a difference to the world."
In Fable, the story is set over the period of a lifetime. Peter Molyneux said that this was both frustrating to design for and yet, allows freedom to do things others can't do. A concept shot from Fable 2 was revealed - a beautifully painted campfire in the woods. Brightwood. When you are a teen in Fable 2, it's a spooky place inspired by Murkwood in LOTR.
The example detailed here was that in this location, you discover a Gypsy camp. If your character goes in and trades and is nice to everyone, you can do a quest to help the gypsies by clearing out woods of enemies called 'Hobbs'. However, if your character comes back in ten years, the camp will have changed into houses. Ten years further on, it's a little village. Ten years further, the village is a town!
But here's the twist; if you initially went into the camp and slaughtered everyone, the town wouldn't exist and that's an interesting thing for the player to experience, as everyone is likely to experience a different environment from one another.
'Buying Things'
Peter asks, "Why is it you can only buy swords and clothes? Why can't you buy a house? Or a shop and be a shopkeeper? Why not a whole street? Or a whole city? Or the nearby castle and be Lord of the castle? Why not buy a dungeon?"
Everything that you see in Fable 2 is buyable and when you buy it, you are Lord of the manor / Owner of the dungeon. It adds to your character as you have a feeling of wealth and ownership. It's a new mechanic; money. It can buy you security, power and pretty much anything else.
How does this enhance the experience? Ownership is empowering. It allows the player to 'unlock' content, and it adds to the simulation element.
Regarding the content unlocking, if you own a castle, there will be specific quests relating to owning that castle. "Sire, there are thieves stealing wine from the cellars!" If you own a cathedral, you get different quests - kill the priest or protect him - and so on...
What this also gives you is that when you beat the game, you haven't finished it as there's still content to be found and played through. This was a feature present in the original Fable (if you played through the evil ending and got the big sword and waited out the end credits), but the fact Lionhead is openly aware of it means that perhaps we'll get more bang for the buck this time round.
http://community.lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2007/08/31/2769402.aspx
It's nowhere near finished. Think about that for a second. It is not finished. So yes, the game will look at least a gazillion times better than anything you've seen of Fable 2 so far. Anyone doubting that for a split second deserves a kick in the butt. Compared to some other games, Fable 2 is graphically going to be a Masterpiece.
We are talking about vast and expansive outdoor locations, with added night and day cycle with realistic lighting effects that dynamically change the environment around you. There will be uber-detailed textures and lighting on up to fifty character models on screen, all of which will cast a dynamic shadow of themselves on that same environment and the same goes for any object in the world. There is a physics engine, a simulation engine and about a thousand years of knowledge of things that I'm not even trying to understand. According to our water-expert Fran "we are going to kick Bioshock's water!" He gets a little excited sometimes; Italian passion! But the game will look Great.
The problem here, is that you try to bash what i post about Fable 2, when in fact you have NO IDEA about the game

i havent seen you once talk sbout crysis or the technical aspects of the game so it leads me to believe you know nothing about crysis and you are not capable of making an objective comparison.
FYI 'teh trees in crysis look poor to me' does not count.
