If Fable 2 ends up having better technical character models than Crysis I will PM you my credit card number.

"Sam from Lionhead Studios sent us a message to not only inform us that Fable 2 does NOT use IDV's SpeedTree software, but that their team is building their foliage and trees in-house and from scratch. Though, Sam did confirm that, early on, the dev team did look into using SpeedTree for Fable 2, but decided it wouldn't be right for their RPG baby. Oh, and just in case you were wondering, we've been told that each and every one of Fable 2's non-SpeedTree trees have approximately 120,000 leaves dangling from their branches. Oh, friggin' yeah."

Some more stuff, that you will probably not believe either, but here it is
'Dynamic Environments'
When playing RPGs, the feeling is "I don't seem to make a difference to the world."
In Fable, the story is set over the period of a lifetime. Peter Molyneux said that this was both frustrating to design for and yet, allows freedom to do things others can't do. A concept shot from Fable 2 was revealed - a beautifully painted campfire in the woods. Brightwood. When you are a teen in Fable 2, it's a spooky place inspired by Murkwood in LOTR.
The example detailed here was that in this location, you discover a Gypsy camp. If your character goes in and trades and is nice to everyone, you can do a quest to help the gypsies by clearing out woods of enemies called 'Hobbs'. However, if your character comes back in ten years, the camp will have changed into houses. Ten years further on, it's a little village. Ten years further, the village is a town!
But here's the twist; if you initially went into the camp and slaughtered everyone, the town wouldn't exist and that's an interesting thing for the player to experience, as everyone is likely to experience a different environment from one another.
'Buying Things'
Peter asks, "Why is it you can only buy swords and clothes? Why can't you buy a house? Or a shop and be a shopkeeper? Why not a whole street? Or a whole city? Or the nearby castle and be Lord of the castle? Why not buy a dungeon?"
Everything that you see in Fable 2 is buyable and when you buy it, you are Lord of the manor / Owner of the dungeon. It adds to your character as you have a feeling of wealth and ownership. It's a new mechanic; money. It can buy you security, power and pretty much anything else.
How does this enhance the experience? Ownership is empowering. It allows the player to 'unlock' content, and it adds to the simulation element.
Regarding the content unlocking, if you own a castle, there will be specific quests relating to owning that castle. "Sire, there are thieves stealing wine from the cellars!" If you own a cathedral, you get different quests - kill the priest or protect him - and so on...
What this also gives you is that when you beat the game, you haven't finished it as there's still content to be found and played through. This was a feature present in the original Fable (if you played through the evil ending and got the big sword and waited out the end credits), but the fact Lionhead is openly aware of it means that perhaps we'll get more bang for the buck this time round.
http://community.lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2007/08/31/2769402.aspx
It's nowhere near finished. Think about that for a second. It is not finished. So yes, the game will look at least a gazillion times better than anything you've seen of Fable 2 so far. Anyone doubting that for a split second deserves a kick in the butt. Compared to some other games, Fable 2 is graphically going to be a Masterpiece.
We are talking about vast and expansive outdoor locations, with added night and day cycle with realistic lighting effects that dynamically change the environment around you. There will be uber-detailed textures and lighting on up to fifty character models on screen, all of which will cast a dynamic shadow of themselves on that same environment and the same goes for any object in the world. There is a physics engine, a simulation engine and about a thousand years of knowledge of things that I'm not even trying to understand. According to our water-expert Fran "we are going to kick Bioshock's water!" He gets a little excited sometimes; Italian passion! But the game will look Great.
The problem here, is that you try to bash what i post about Fable 2, when in fact you have NO IDEA about the game
It doesn't matter. I wouldn't even care if we were discussing about 10,000,000 trees. Quality is the thing that is significant.

Whoa so long. 31 pages! And it still remains clear crysis is superior. So why the debate?bobaban
There honestly is only 1 or 2 people arguing against Crysis
Lol, Saolin is arguing on gametrailers forum about this too. And everyone is disagreeing with him there too. His name is Labwarrior.

I'm tired, you said the same thing about 4,000 times in this topic. You gave me a video, that didn't say one thing you said. You just made it up. They talked about foilage, having lots of foilage. Every game has lots of foilage. It isn't movign, it is static. It doesn't have amazing light, it has nothign impressive. No, not "every game" has foliage, or 3D trees , or vast 3D free roaming forests like Fable 2, most use that crap speedtree trees, that are not lit or shadowed properly, and look crap comparing
The video i gave, as well as the links provide the huge world proof, if you can't watch or read, not my fault, this post was obviously not meant for people like you
And EVERTHING in Fable 2 is moving, the trees and grass move with the wind, the shadows move as the leaves move, and as the sun moves, same for the Crysis like light beams
No, if you can't see them, again, it is YOUR PROBLEM, not mine
Here is a video that everything MOVES, that proves you have no idea what you are talking about

77 to 534 ..no those votes dont count u lose /thread77 people actually voted Fable... :|

Yesm because Halo 3 had vast free roaming forests, with each tree individually modelled, ground full of grass, real time filtered by geometry light beams, real time moving shadows from all trees to everyhting etc etc
Halo 3 was VASTLY behind Fable 2 graphics, so you fail

I can't believe that someone thinks a game that doesn't even look top-tier for a console game can stand up to Crysis graphically.
This is an utterly foolish argument. It's foolishness is only matched by the person standing up for Fable 2.
Here's how the progression goes...
Crysis > Metal Gear Solid 4 > Killzone 2 > Uncharted: Drake's Fortune > Gears of War > Some other games..... > Fable 2
i think Fable 2 is really nice but lame people who argue that its better than Crysis are fools and nothing but. Nothing, NOTHING on consoles is even close to Crysis. Fable 2 has its own charm and to me it looks like the best graphics on consoles.MrGrimFandango
Depends on what you mean. Maybe technically yes, but after playing DMC4 a lot lately, then going back to Crysis, Crysis didn't seem as impressive as it used to. Sure it has a more realistic look to it, whereas DMC4 has a more flashy artsy look, but Crysis doesn't look as clean as DMC4. What I mean is things like many objects like bushes majically popping into view, the amount of shimmering amongst leaves on trees in the distance. Crysis is impressive though how there's so much detail in such an open world with a lot of interaction and physics. Plus things like realistic water and shadows.
Anyway my main point is that there are plenty of games on consoles which are comparable to Crysis for how good they look overall. Even though Crysis is the most realistic looking game ever, the graphics have been very much overrated here. I also felt the same way about RE4 and Gears of War which is still being overrated.
A bit off topic but seriously people, DMC4 deserves more mention for its graphics. I'm most of the way through it now and it rivals Uncharted as the best looking console game. It's really stunning and epic like God of War, but with visuals worthy of the more powerful consoles.

Sorry, but as far as consoles go, even Alan Wake and Far Cry 2, look like JOKES comparing to Fable 2 vast detail and thick forests, they feel totally epmty comparing
So, let's just forget consoles there, Fable 2 can ONLY be compared to Crysis, and it beats it in many things as well, from what i see by new pics posted here
As for your little comparisson, you have to be kidding, right ? No PS3 game looks better than Alan Wake, and Alan Wake can't even touch Fable 2 graphics

I wouldn't consider that 'vastly' with capitals.

I don't think so. I think that you're making Fable 2 seem more marvelous than it really is. You're overstating, if you ask me. Unless you show us some screenshots which really are splendid, then I can't agree with you. As a matter of fact, I don't know if there's one human being who does. As far as I am concerned, Fable 2 won't even be the finest video game in connection with technical graphics on Xbox 360. I thought that you'd realize it. Everybody disagrees with you. I haven't seen one person who is of the same mind. You're the only one. When will you comprehend? I guess that the truth about this will be established in the future.

Some hermits have attacked me for my sometimes over the top agressiveness towards the consoles yet look how many of you are arguing this joke thread, your just giving this guy a stage.
Any rational person knows that Fable 2 looks like garbage even in comparison to other Xbox games like OBLIVION which completely destroys Fable 2 graphically.
For Crysis to be as technically unimpressive as Fable 2 you would literally have to go below low settings.

Saolin has spent way too much time on this thread for it to be a joke. I know its hard to believe, but he's serious.

Yeah this saolin guy is the definition of retarded. Fable 2 is below the top tier console games and it's ridiculous to compare it to Crysis. I think that 500 something to 80 something vote is enough to prove that.
lets post crysis screenshots to 1000 posts. ;)
This is crysis maxed out on my system, granted, the FPS isn't terribly good, but it looks astounding. I sometimes switch to max in areas cleared of enemies and just wander around letting the beauty sink in.
(also I took this so saolin can see what trees look like in crysis)

No, Fable 2 graphics are so many MILES beyond ANY console game graphics, out or coming, that is silly to even bring up other console titles for comparisson, the fact that it bests Crysis in looks in some ascpect pretty much makes any other console title look like a total joke comparing
And frankly i see nothing "astounding" about the above Crysis pic
