As for something positive? I believe they did wonders for online console gaming. Though XBL may not be worth spending money on, it is a great service and PSN would not be what it is today had it not been for XBL.... thats about all I can think of.

I don't know for sure, but I was pretty sure micro$oft came out with the online voice chat thing. Even though dreamcast and PC had the online match making service. and now all three systems use online voice chat.

You sound like one of these kids that picked up his gaming history from a message board. Ninty made some big mistakes with the N64. Thats why the PS brand did so well. Similar to how Sony dropped the ball at the start of this gen and gave MS some room to grow.

Outrun is better then GT because it came out first and so Gran Turismo brought nothing to the table even when it was first launched.
