Personally speaking Forza is awesome, specially Forza Horizon series.
Well?
Forza is the definitive Racing franchise currently, lets see if Gran Turismo can make a charge back at the crown it held so long ago. My money is on Forza keeping the crown.
Outside of I_P, nobody plays Forza. GT is a genre defining racer. GT on the ps5 will make the forza counterpart look like an indie game with a $500 budget.

I'll just let the replies in this thread own you :)

You two are just jealous because you can't touch the best around. But since you don't have anything to play until god knows when, you can always use your console to watch some GT footage on youtube 😊No one would blame you if you pretended to be dirving those cars (i know I_P does this every time and for years, anyways) while watching gameplay vids of GT. 😎

Its funny that you say we have nothing to play, and yet I remember you saying that once you finished the LOU2 you were selling your PS4, so you're the one with nothing to play.

The PS4 was already sold weeks ago. Why would i keep the old shit when the new one is pre ordered and coming in under a month? And i'll be playing Eternal's dlc on pc, thanks 😊
Gran Turismo is the better racing simulation.
Forza is the better simcade racer.
This is what we call fence sitting.
I put them on the same level. Simcades with a good selection of cars and tracks.
Neither deserve to be called genuine racing sims.
@hardwenzen: DLC huh, well like i said nothing to play. I have at least 30 games on my shelf to play, and i bought a couple more last week.
I also have first party games with MP (do you need me to explain what games like that are like lol) in Forza 3 & 4, i think i've prestige'd 4 on 3 separate occasions :)
@hardwenzen: "you can always use your console to watch some GT footage on youtube "
Well, that's how I play nearly all of my PS4 games. 😁

Better "play" them that way than get delayed indefinately like Infinite, canned like Scalebound or released in the Crackdown 3 state 😭
Having poured many hours, it depends what you like. My opinion as person who played GTS quite a lot-
Gran Tourismo is far more "Sim" like of the two and the online in GTS is currently is probably the best of all Racing Sim with the whole FIA sponsored season tourneys. GTS online also benefits ALOT from far more disciplined drivers. Probably one of those few games that even if you finished 7th you will still say, "that was a good race chaps".
I do hope GT7 offers more "fantasy" tracks as in GTS it only includes real life tracks. Those real life tracks are good but really limits GTS potential and while they at it, fix the damn penalty system.
There would not be a Forza without Gran Turismo.😉
... and there would be no Gran Turismo without Test Drive or Need for Speed on 3DO, etc.. A licensed car game in that format was inevitable. I have a lot of respect for the earlier GT games, but GT4 was the last full on good GT game. The GT games have become more half ass over the years while the competition has become a whole lot better.

I like it for everything. Gorgeous environments and tracks, driving controls , various cars/customisation.
@BassMan:
Non of those games were like gran turismo, GT was the first racing game that allowed you to have your shitty low end car and customize it to run, before that tracing games sinple had fast cars.
Well, that is generally the point of racing games... to race fast cars. I never spend much time with the low end cars. Besides, there were games before GT like Tokyo Highway Battle that let you race potato cars and mod them. As I said, the GT formula was inevitable. It would have happened regardless if GT existed or not.
Gran Turismo for me, they had a bad bit of luck with GT5 which was crap, but made up for that with GTS which is fantastic (never got around to playing GT6).
Now that's not to say Forza isn't good, cause it is, well at least the newer ones, the first 2 were pretty lame.
whats best scrambled eggs, poached eggs or fried eggs?
thats right whatever you prefer is best
really makes you think
Hah :P
I like both and tend to buy both, but have enjoyed the last Forza entries a bit more than the last GT entries. I like the customization Forza offers more than what GT allows. Both are top notch racing games though.
I tend to stray towards GT due to it’s more complex and competitive online mode, you get some fun serious races with gtsport, and I’m glad I invested in a sim rig for the fia events and championships, I also love the driver ratings and ranking systems, it’s as close to a pc sim as you can get.
As for forza, I don’t really mess with motorsports anymore, since I rather spend my time driving and customizing awesome cars across Britain. But I will go more in-depth later.
As for what’s the best, that’s pretty subjective, on one hand if you do play gtsport, you are really going to have to perfect your craft driving wise, or else you’ll be stuck with low quality racing, things like. Track limits and pentalies will make or break your race, it’s a very very serious and competitive online environment, so you can’t just cheat your way to the top.
For Motorsport, it’s more of a casual type of game, and I don’t mean that in necessarily a bad thing, but more races online will be casual with drivers varying from bad to decent to pro, unlike aforementioned GTs ranking and driver level system, in forza it’s a free for all, you can have clean races, but more than often you will be punted or spun on purpose, since the game (at launch) was much more forgiving, now they have tried to fix these issues, however it put off a lot of people, which is people moved toward the GT Series.
However, outside of online competition, forza motorsports is a far superior game when it comes to tuning and the cars it’s self, you can really get in there and make something incredible, where as GT has very limited tuning capabilities. Motorsports is also superior when it comes to its robust and extensive campaign mode.
So In the end, it’s whether you want a near hardcore PC sim like online experience, the best that a console has to offer, truly competitive with a very high learning curve, and cars with more realistic physics and handling characteristics, with things like calculating pits and fuel stops with a massive online community of dedicated racers.
Or an amazing racer with a highly robust car/track and extensive core gameplay like tuning and customization, with tons of options that leans more on the casual side of things, however is just an overal great game, aside from most online antics.
And of course, there is always horizon.
I have enjoyed both franchises and I would probably say that Forza has had a stronger showing over the past few years but earlier GT games were my favorite. SONY needs to take the new GT back to what made it so good... give me new and used cars of all prices, closed circuit race tracks, dirt/grime, color and easier customization and cleat cut goals, plenty of unlocks without micro transactions (I'm fine with both as long as there are some free unlockables) licenses, rallies, endurances, and an easy way to matchmake and get into online games without jumping through hoops. Throw in incentives to play online and I'll get the new game for sure.. however if it's like Sport or the last GT I'm out. With Forza I much prefer classic Forza as well and I'm not a big fan of the way Horizon handles things although I do think they are fun games with a lot of potential. Mainline Forza beat mainline GT this gen and SONY has a lot to prove with GT if they want to try and keep it as a relevant franchise.
Forget gran truisms, horizon 4 crushes pretty much every other racing game I’ve ever played, and racing is my favourite genre. Simply put, Horizon 4 is a masterpiece.
Forza Motorsport games are fantastic though.
Last GT I played was 4, have only played Forza 4 and Horizon 3 and 4. Of those, I prefer Forza. They all great games, I just prefer Forza's handling model. GT leans sim to the point it hurts the fun a bit for me. Forza just seems to prioritise making a good driving game. So I say Horizon > Motorsport > GT, but this is due to personal preference, not quality.
Not even close at any moment in time during the lifespan of both franchises, Gran Turismo is far superior
