[QUOTE="Hakkai007"]LOL at putting Intel in a budget build. Seriously I have an Intel myself but pretty much everyone knows you can get much more bang for your buck from AMD in the lower side of the price spectrum. Also who the hell needs 6GB of DD3 RAM, I only have 4GB of DDR2 and the closest I've come to maxing it out was when I was doing graphic design work on Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign all at the same time. Budget build? Since when are gaming PC's budget builds? Gaming PCs are meant to be top of the line by today's standards.[QUOTE="Messiahbolical-"] [QUOTE="General_X"][QUOTE="Messiahbolical-"]
Hmm. $600 gaming PC? I don't think so.
- $150 Windows 7 Home Edition
- $170 6gb DDR3 RAM
- $200 Intel i5 Quad Core Processor
- $155 ASUS motherboard
- $50 Seagate 500gb HDD
- $210 ATI Raceon HD 4890
- $??? Tax
Do I really need to continue? There's still a lot you'd have to buy and that's already like $800-900
People don't realize everything adds up. lol
Messiahbolical-
Wrong, hardware already goesabove and beyond what you need today.. A 4850 1gb video card can play every game out there on high or max.. That sells for $120 or less.. And that is your most expensive component..
And I'd rather have a quad core i7 at 2.6ghz than a quad core Phenom 2 running at 3.4 ghz any day.
Maybe, but that is personall preference.. And you will hardly notice a difference what so ever.
AMD processors are just meh, Intel's hyper threading just makes AMD's look like a joke.
No.. You will rarely ever see a difference in performance in less yoru simply stress testing it..
Intel > AMD any day. Yes, if I ever wanted a "budget gaming pc" I might consider AMD, but really... what's the point of a "budget gaming pc"? So you can play the games that come out in 2011-2012 on low settings in 720p with hardly any anti-aliasing? lol
... Graphic demands are on a standstill.. Crysis a game that was released at 2007 is STILL the most demanding game out there.. We have yet to see another demanding gaming outside of a incredibly inotepmized game.. And fail.. Low settings in 720p? Really? You have to point out what game out there is going to make current medium spec cards bow.. Because I have yet to see it..

You won't have something to type your papers on or watch streamed videos or download them.
I will have fun playing games and browsing the internet on my PC.

Half the content? My dear boy, PC gamers will never run out of games to play. Content is one of the things that PCs have over console, definitely. If you want a wanker contest, feel free to bring it out, I won't contest it. If you want an honest appraisal, then I can tell you that PC gaming just has so much content that much of it never goes under review. Again, if you want to bring out your wanker, go right ahead, but in the final analysis, it's still the one who chooses the console that loses. We PC gamers only have a limited amount of concern over this. We have too many games to be concerned about what consolites think about it.Have fun with your expansion packs, and half the content of a 360/PS3 combo.

A laptop is a computer and you can't count it when you have to pick between the consoles or a computer.
Also there are easily many times more games on the PC compared to the 360/PS3 combo.......many many times more.

Most PC games are GPU-bound unless you run them at 640x400 or 800x600. There's not too many that are CPU-bound except maybe flight sims and even my lowly Phenom II X3 720 does just fine for those.

Actually, he's right.
In terms of exclusive, the PS3/360 together have one more AAAE than PC, however for AAE the consoles have 25 and the PC has 77, and as for AE the consoles have 27 combined and the PC has 81.

Well than you are aware that PS3/360 has twice as many AAA Games that arent on PC, than PC has AAA games that arent on PS3/360.
And nearly half those PC AAA games I'm talking about are expansion packs that require the main game...

Mhmmm, definately. However for one the majority of those expansion packs offer a whole gamesworth of content. second, you're now simply limiting to AAA games. Including the AA and A category, the PC simply has a vast, vast amount of quality games.
However, i'm not trying to negate the fact that the consoles have an excellent catalogue, otherwise I wouldn't own all of them.

And again, that's not even including the games that never go under review - lots of MMORPGs, various MMO services that are not RPGs, indie efforts, and the like. Also not included, is mod support. When we talk about games, we're talking about content. A platform that has more games is advantageous because it has more content. Thing is, content isn't the same per game between a PC and a console. Civ IV has several orders of magnitude more content than any one console game, simply because of the online communities that surround it. Damn large is an understatement. Despite the disparity in titles already, there are more games that are never reviewed by any site, let alone GS, than are covered. I'd hazard that the volume of unreviewed games is from 100% to 200% over the reviewed volume, possibly more.roxlimn
True. But only a handful of those would recieve scores that would enable them to be mentioned in a forum like this. The PC and Wii are affected by this kind of stuff, but not as much as some of the posters above make it look like.

what are you talking about carlos?Theoretically, a PC would be better, but you're gonna have to upgrade it in 6 months. A console, however, would have you covered for atleast 4 years. Motion controls included, of course.64316431My computer was build in 2008 and playa every PC game in high settings. And will play any game on far higher than console settings until the Ps4, xbox720, etc came out. And even then, it would prably still run games with better iQ.

Wait, what?
I built mine almost 2 years ago and it still plays games well at 1920x1200. Only reason i'm upgrading is that I want to try out the GTX480/5870.

Just 5? And what are you going to do once I've provided your list of five? Are you then going to just dismiss them as being low-quality efforts, not worthy of mention? Seems a little disingenuous. In any case, here's 5:
Devil's Tuning Fork
Obey The Game
Boss Rush
Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble
Max and the Magic Marker
That's just off the top of my head. Lots more. I mean, the site hasn't even rated Maple Story or FreeStyle Street Basketball, and those are like, major hits - everyone's been playing them. On top of that, it underscores games like Demigod, League of Legends, and Mount and Blade for various reasons, usually because the reviewer caught the game in a bad state and simply never had a chance to revise the score when the game got better. Those games have like, really rabid followings.
Auditorium's been around forever, and it's cheap, and it's pretty cool. How come no one's reviewing that?
These games may or may not appeal to you - that's your call, but these games are being played, plenty of people like them and pay for them and in a conversation about content, these things are totally relevant.
I've presented you this in good faith. If you're going to be a smartass about this, I'm not going to pursue this any further with you.

First off, I would never let my friends know I post on a videogame forum.
Secondly, I can just as easily get a friend to take a pic of his computers internals with my name on it. :|

I play Crysis maxed out in DX10 1080p with 8xAA, and it doesn't look that great, my eyes start hurting from thinking about how bad it must look with a $600 computer.
Also max out STALKER in DX11 with 4xAA. Not that great looking.
