Controls. period.

COD has mastered/perfected the controls of FPS. No other game comes close. The closest imo is Halo.

When i played Killzone or bad company i couldnt aim for ****. My cross hairs was all over the place. Even when the enemy is close to me i have a hard time shooting them. Now i know it takes time to get used to it but why waste time to get used to it when its obvious that the gameplay is broken? Now i know some of you are going to be like "well its because its realistic and takes skill herp derp". To that all i can do is laugh.

In real life its not hard to aim from point A to point B nice and fast. Im not going to have a problem with overcompensation. Im going to lock on you pretty quick and take you out.

In COD the controls are nice, sweet, tight and precise exactly how it would be in real life especially if you are a trained soldier for crying out loud. I feel like im drunk when i play killzone and bad company. Im just spraying all over the place and wrestling with my controller just to kill a guy rite in front of my face.

COD has the most realistic controls. And people keep on buying them because of its perfection. SW's complains about rehash...well, when something is perfected....you cant do much to improve it can you? If you want improvments wait for COD 9 when it comes out on PS4 and xbox 720. The only improvements with be the amazing graphics while maintaining 60fps......but for now...60fps>>>>graphics. so stop crying.

Discuss...

60fps helps, but COD is arcade style, KZ3 and BC2 try to add some realism to the way weapons feel so it's not as easy as COD.

Simplistic controls made for kids = best FPS of all time? Autoaim means quality? Stupidly large hitboxes and blast radius are good? No recoil, no bullet spread, and laser bullets means better controls?

Realistic controls? So much wrong it should be bannable. If you want realism, play a real man's game.

60FPS > graphics? Why can't we have both?

A trained special forces soldier wont have a promlem with recoil and aiming like a drunk. they are going to lock on you and take you out fast and smove. so please, enough with the "realistic gun play"

There is nothing realistic about CoD. Even Battlefield has arcadey-styIe gameplay but it had far more realism than CoD will ever have.

Giving casuals the illusion of skill=/= perfected.

I guess you've never held a real rifle. Even at 4-5 lbs you can't move nearly as quickly as you think. Thrown on 30 kilos of gear and then try to move like a CoD character. It's unpossible.

Even trained, veteran special forces can't move around like they live in a weightless environment. The levels of recoil in CoD are meant to fit the free-flowing gameplay, not be realistic. If it was realistic it would be to frustrating.

I enjoy CoD because it isn't realistic.

Exactly. COD is just way to floaty, I actually prefer the weight that's in Killzone. BFBC2 is a healthy mix of weight and floatyness.

im talking about aiming from point A to point B. it should be smove and fast. not jiggling all over the place. and yes movments in COD isnt realist but to be fair the characters you play as arnt wearing 30 kilos of gear.

Nah CoD is perfect for the speed of the game. Killzone and BC2 both have differnt paces. Homefront have a much more BC2 pace but tried to play like CoD and the results were horrible.

floaty? FLOATY?? killzone and its floatyness is the main reason it failed. COD has fast precise aiming. where did you get floaty from?

You still don't move nearly as "fluid" as CoD would make you think. BC2 and BF3 have a much better sense of weight and movement.

Because its casual mcdonalds equivilant trash to the video games industry? Theres no other reason, ITS LOWEST COMMON DENOMINOTOR GAMING with a theme relevant to the war mongering US and UK .... (like what 90% of the games audiance.).... And please.... CoD4 is the only HIGHLY revered one of the lot. Its casual, its simple, it has less substance. its like a damn sports game rehashed every year with minimal effort but sells on the premise that its mimicing an ideal of our real lives (Modern army soldier) . Gameplay my ass, subjective....

Again, it's not fast in real life at all. You are completely negating the weight of the weapon and momentum.

Hold out your arm with a heavy book and try to point really fast at 2 locations. You'll notice you have slow acceleration and won't beable to stop it easily. There is absolutly nothing realistic about CoD's gameplay other than it takes real-world guns and puts it into a very unrealistic environment.

Playing a video game is nothing like firing a real weapon, let alone in an actual battle situation where people are shooting back at you.

cod is no where close to how it is in real life, you cant run that much/that fast with that much equipment in real life about 70 percent of the weapons in cod have no recoil..... if you think cod is how it is in real life then dont even join the army.....for your own safety

if i can aim and shoot better in real life then why must i have trouble in a game? COD is closer to real life then any other game when it comes to aim and shoot. just go to the fire range and shoot a real gun. develope some skill and you will know why aiming should be hard to do in games

Shotguns killing people from the other end of the map... people running around at super speed knifing people dead in one hit. automatic flying sentries.... oh the list can go on for ever. Accept the reality, CoD4 had a great balance and why its one of the most played PC games still, so is CoD2, every after has been a steaming pile of turd aimed at dumbasses that normally wouldnt play games... and reward them for very simplistic dumbed down gameplay. My god it took them til black ops to stop killstreaks giving higher killstreaks, the level of casual crap is undeniable. Production quality hasnt improved, graphics havnt improved, gameplay has just been altered ever so slightly with more or less imbalances depending on which developer was drunk when doing what. Face it. the game is casual appeal over quality.... and is nowhere near realistic compared to other games in the genre.

"lock on", like auto-aim and quick scoping?

In real life, 1/10,000 bullets makes contact with an enemy solider. Numerous studies by the military have prooven this. This is why we stick with lower caliber weapons so we can shoot more, faster, and more controlled.

my aiming isnt perfect i know that. im saying i can aim and move my gun around from target to target smoothly and fast. and when you play as special forces in a game they should be able to lock on targets fast

Omega-316

I highly doubt you can move like one does in CoD and maintain accuracy.

Maybe a Special Forces member does move and act like that. But then so should you, the game shouldn't have to do it for you. Play the game, don't let it play it for you. You don't have autoaim IRL either.

Because its campaign is a tunnel and they just push you forward and the mp is an arcade game anyone can play.

You are the one who should go to a firing range and shoot with guns. Let´s see if the bullets fly in a straight line with no recoil, also you have be running while doing it.

Mind = blown. It's okay to prefer one play style over another, but to call out other games and call them broken? Oh yeah you are so right lol. I've never heard over these issues you are complaining about despite the fact that I have played WaW, MW1, BC1/2 AND KZ2 on console. They are fine, really. The KZ and BC games are feels more heavy and the gameplay of BC2 are sometimes a bid annoying, but when it comes to aiming I see no problem.

im talking about aiming from point A to point B. it should be smooth and fast. not jiggling all over the place. and yes movments in COD isnt realist but to be fair the characters you play as arnt wearing 30 kilos of gear.

ChubbyGuy40

You still don't move nearly as "fluid" as CoD would make you think. BC2 and BF3 have a much better sense of weight and movement.

Kind of off topic but how did BF3 weight feel compared to BC2? Did it seem a little lighter and more fluid? The main problem for me when I played BC2 was that it felt like I was a walking tank in that game.
