Why do people pay for Xbox Live?

Is cross game chat and dashboard ads really worth over $400 in value for a gen to people?

There are no other exclusive features to the service. People pay to unlock multiplayer in games they already paid for and access a netflix app that they are already paying netflix for.

As long as sony is still free to play online with PS4 and improves the experience. I can see no one renewing there live subscriptions for Next Xbox.

Xbox 360 live is a big joke, you get nothing and pay to play Halo online, what a joke. At least PS3 has a little service called PS+ and you get all kinds of free great games and discounts.

Xbox Live you get Nada, but party chat and Shooters online (Which you get on PS3 also for free).

So for the better value at around the same price.....

Because they have to, they cant play the multiplayer portion of their games if they dont give Microsoft more money.

If multiplayer and all the apps was available to XBL silver, I highly doubt anyone would pay for Gold.

Because I want to play online? I have a Vita and 360 and definitely getting a PS4. Btw, why are you guys paying so much for XBL? I've been paying 2 dollars for 2 months for the past year.

PSN is already doing cross game chat for free on the Vita, some lems might be happy to pay for this feature, but you lems got to understand that the competition is a better value for money.

I don't  see the need for MS to charge. I had the first xbox and played Halo 1 & 2 a lot online. I had a 360 and played online with it. I never saw why MS had to charge ever. It's just what people do because MS makes them. I'll never understand the defending of the charging by lems. I'd simply say "yes I pay because they make me to play online on their consoles". "I'd rather not pay, but I have to in order to play games online".

Doesn't matter why it doesn't have it, just the fact it doesn't. Many multiple console owners like myself go with XBL just because of said features. Its hardly our fault that Sonys lack of planning stiffled competition in that area.

Which leads me to wonder why cows get so butthurt over lems paying for XBL (this thread being a prime example). Maybe you should start making threads as to why Sony developed a console incapable of offering the features the competition does. Because as of right now, I see no reason to settle for PSN, free or not, when I can get a superior service on the 360 for pennies a year.

Do not argue, there is much more value in PS+ than Xbox RipOff Gold. Anyone can see that they don't compare. I just got Sleeping Dogs for free yesterday and have tons of free games like (LBP2 and Infamous 2, ect, ect) from PS+. What games have MS given you for free with XBOX Live. Oh thats what I thought almost none.

For the last 5-6 months I haven't paid more than $1 a month for Live, so I've been alright with that.
