Why do people pay for Xbox Live?

There are no other exclusive features to the service. People pay to unlock multiplayer in games they already paid for and access a netflix app that they are already paying netflix for.

Why do people pay their ISP for broadband access? The answers are the same. Online gaming is not FREE. Don't know why people keep thinking it is.

Is paying $500 - $600 a year worth it for gamers to play online.

The thing is people choose to pay for Xbox Live because MS has better online games. Halo and Gears Of War Series are great online, all there friends are on playing Call Of Duty all over 360.

So they think since Halo is so good online and all there friends are paying for Xbox Live they have to do the same to play there beloved Halo Online.

MS really know how to stick it to there customers. I can tell you one thing I am not paying $60 a year next gen to play Halo 5 online. No Way.

Xbox Live download speeds are faster.

Patches are delivered much faster.

Cross game chat. Party chat.

Xbox Live Indie Games. Over 3000

Xbox Live Arcade.

Much more content than PSN.

Better GUI interface.

Xbox Storefront doesn't lag like PSN.

Everyone has mics to communicate with.

More services and apps available for Xbox

etc etc etc Could go on and on.

MS was the first in the console world to push online gaming and get it right. They was also first to start doing apps and better features but, sony has push really far and matching MS.

IF sony wasn't stupid about how they divided the ram in ps3. ps3 would had party chat by now

With the acquisition of Gakai and Sony building the new PS4 OS/PSN around it, they will finally match XBL. Question is, what will MS add to make the fees worth it. Probably their own version of PSN+ and who knows what else.

Cross game chat is the best feature on consoles... er, I mean the only console that can handle it.  Other than that, I think people pay just to piss off the TC...

Because in 2002 it was worth it......11 years later it's not and xbox brand is dead.

Still can't wrap my head around why some people care what others do.  If someone pays for LIVE, is it really a big deal?  If someone prefers PSN, is that a big deal? I can see people like the TC contemplating this:  Why go to McDonalds to buy a few cheeseburgers to bring home when you already have cheese in your fridge?  Just save money, buy hamburgers and put the cheese on when you get home.

Not charge you to use features you already pay for. When you buy a PS3 game you own the entire game. When you buy a 360 game you have the option of paying yearly fees to rent its multiplayer.
