1. Consoles use less power then high end PCs. The old 360 uses 203Watts max and the new falcon chip is down to 175W max.

2. No need for constant upgrades. A high end PC from 2005 will not even be able to run Alan Wake on the lowest settings while the 360 from 2005 will run it fine

3. Consoles are less noisy. After installing a game on the 360s HD its super quiet. PCs with giant fans and graphics cards humming along plus that 750watt psu are as noisy as a airport runway.

4. Consoles get almost all the games that the PC gets plus great exclusives.

5. Price wise consoles win too. $200-$300 for a 360 is about the price of a good graphics card.

6. PC graphics aren't leaps and bounds ahead of console graphics. Killzone 2, Heavy Rain, GOW III, Fight Night Round 3, and more show off what consoles can do.

7. Consoles have 5 year life spans at the very least while PCs need to be constantly upgraded just to run the newest games on low settings. Windows Vista is considered an upgrade.

8. PC developers fear that pirating issues will effect game sales. Epic is no longer a PC game developer and Gears 2 is not coming to the PC.

Still doesn't deteriorate the fact that PC Developers fear so called "loyal" PC gamers who pirate. lol

1) That is what we call an uneducated guess.

2) It doesn't matter. The fact is that it does exist, and Pc gaming wont go anywhere. And I will continue to game on my PC and have a superior experience. And others game on other platforms and similarly have their superior experiences.

Ahahah. All of your points are absolutely stupid, but this one in particular is.

My PC is almost completely silent (When walking up to it, I've sometimes checked for the LED glow to make sure it's actually on), whereas the fans on my 360 sound like a freaking vacuum cleaner by comparison. From personal experience, installing games does nothing to remedy the banshee-like wailing of its fans.

Large, low-RPM fans give better airflow and output much less noise than the tiny, high-RPM fans in the 360.

WoW, in theory IS PC gaming. Let's be honest. PC gaming is on it's last legs. Consoles have taken over the market, and have proven they can provide an experience nearly equal to that of a computer.

AND on top of that, on PCs you at least have the OPTION of using other, less noisy methods of cooling.

1. Although the 360 does use less power than your average gaming PC, don't forget that you're using it for than just gaming. Using the internet, checking facebook, or even writing on this forum sound familiar? 2. Price vs. Performance, your pick. 3. Your 360 is still going to be loud if you have 7.1 surround sound so that you can enjoy Dead Space. 4. Same can be said about the 360. 5. Again, the PC might be more expensive than a console, but you're not factoring in the PC's usefulness. You can't surf the web or do your essay on your 360. 6. It's more optimization than console graphics being just as good as PC graphics. Compare Far Cry 2 to the console version and you'll see what I mean 7. Huh? 8. That's ok, I don't really care about Gears 2 anyways.

But at the cost of more expensive games, yearly online fees(xbox), planned obseletion,no custimazition,no to very very little mods, worse graphics,no rts games that need a mouse, ect. But of course i forgot pc gaming is teh deadsZZZ!!!11!! Wasn't it suppose to die when the nes came out?

Umm...A high end 2005 PC will be more powerful than the Xbox 360, so, assuming the developer doesn't screw up the PC version, it should run it better than the 360.

Secondly, upgradeability is actually a plus for a lot of people.

3. Consoles are less noisy. After installing a game on the 360s HD its super quiet. PCs with giant fans and graphics cards humming along plus that 750watt psu are as noisy as a airport runway.

Just....no

You obviously are clueless because bigger fans are usually quieter than small fans. Secondly, a good PC is much quieter than a gaming console.

4. Consoles get almost all the games that the PC gets plus great exclusives.

Can't argue there.

I'm sorry all the things you listed only seem like problems you have with consoles. Your opinion=/= the general public's opinion. If paying for online was such a detriment to the Xbox, there wouldn't be 15million live Users would there be? And planned obsoletion? Most PC's become obsolete 2 years after you upgraded them, as compared to the typical 5 year lifespan of a console. Speak for yourself next time.

Well if you had your facts straight, you'd know that WoW increased PC sales dramatically. It increased Blizzards revenue due to monthly fees, and is the most dominant PC game out there, no contest. It basically IS PC gaming. I'm not stating any opinions. I'm stating facts. :)

You have NO idea of what you're even talking about.

From the personal experience of chatting with people in-game, the vast majority of people who play World of Warcraft can hardly be classified as "PC gamers." World of Warcraft is a beast of its own, and isolated from much of the PC gaming market. Had World of Warcraft not been brought in to existance, it would've changed little with regards to the overall PC gaming market.

You're acting as if WoW is some sort of gateway in to PC gaming. You couldn't be more wrong..most of the people who play it are using very dated hardware and can't even run any remotely recent PC games. They're contributing nothing to the PC gaming market outside outside what they give to Blizzard.

"A beast of it's own? Isolated from the PC market?" I should've just stopped there. First off, the few WoW gamers you talked to =/= the majority of players. Most players take the game seriously and have high-end PCs, which is helping sales. Of course not just for the best WoW experience, but none the less it's helping PC sales. Second off, WoW is the gateway game. It's addicting, fun, easy, and anyone can pick up and play it. IT'S when people get really into WoW that they begin to take PC gaming as a whole seriously, spending more and more money on it. It's like me borrowing a friends Xbox and a copy of Gears 2. I enjoy it so much that I go out, buy a 360 of my own and 20 games. WoW is easy to get into, and it encourages people to upgrade their PCs, get more games, etc. End of story.

1. Who care? So you get to save a couple bucks now?

2. I agree with.

3. Who cares? There are plenty of ways around that like turning up the volume of the game or using headphones. I don't even have my volume high but I'm concentrated on the game and fan noises are of no concern.

4. Sames goes with PC, they get good exclusives of their own.

5. I agree.

6. I somewhat agree though PCs can clearly have better graphics and I haven't played any of those games you've mentioned.

7. Same as 2 so this point is rather pointless.

8. I lost my crystal ball so I can't comment.

1. Wrong regular PCs have generic power supplys of around 250-350 watts and only use much less power. I'm using a DELL 4600 now with a lowly 250 watt psu.

2. You can't even build a PC for the price of a 360 @ $199.

5. Gaming PCs cost more then a regular PC. You can buy a cheap PC and a console and its still cheaper then a single good gaming PC that will become outdated in a few years.

6. Then I guess PC developers can't optimize very well because I don't see any PC games that come close to looking as good as Killzone 2 while running on 256MB of RAM. Doom 3 can't even run on 256MB of RAM smoothly.

[QUOTE="BurningEdge"]No, because GTA IV didn't increase console gaming popularity to the extent that WoW did for PC gaming...at all...period.BurningEdge

Lmao, no, MMO's have the opposite effect. Take 3 out of 5 of my close friends that play MMOs, they have ancient PCs ... while the 2 others like me have amazing rigs, from playing other games. Then my Girlfriend whos a ahrdcore Final Fantasy 11/WoW player ... whos still stuck on a PS2 and barely knows anything about PC games... yet has been a gamer since very young...

Once again, your friends DO NOT equal the majority of people. I just joined these forums and it seems everyones basis for argument is, "Well my friend said so-and-so sucks so it does!" or, "I met one guy with a crappy PC that plays WoW. That means all WoW gamers have useless rigs!"

SOedipus

At least your honest unlike PC fanboys who disagree with all I had to say even though some were simple facts.

Some of the best character models.

Again, you have no clue. Have you even PLAYED the game and spoken with some of the playerbase?

Most of the game's playerbase isn't made up of the pathetic no-lifers, to whom you're referring, who spend every waking hour playing (i.e. the people who take the game way too seriously, and buy hardware way above what they need for the game..yet rarely use it for any other titles.) The people you're talking about make up a very small portion of the playerbase, and even then, they're so devoted that they hardly have time for any OTHER games. Most of the people who play the game actually play very few other games, and generally run the game on older machines, so if they do play anything else, it's usually on a console.

The only portion of the market that really isn't isolated from general PC gaming are the long-time Blizzard fans who play the game (like myself, though I don't play WoW anymore), and the gamers who have come from other MMOs. Most of the people who play World of Warcraft play ONLY that with regards to PC gaming.

WoW is a cornerstone of nothing. It's off in its own little world, and hardly integral to the PC gaming market.

Also..Xfire? Do you really think the average WoW player uses Xfire? It's mostly PC gaming enthusiasts that utilize applications like that..so naturally they'd have playtime for other games racked up

People like the lady that lives across the street from me, who plays WoW, yet has never even heard of any of Blizzard's other franchises?

The notion you're putting forth that somehow WoW is turning many people in to hardcore PC gamers that purchase high-end hardware is absolutely ridiculous.

Burningedge....you are completly clueless....

I dont have the time to point out how little what you say make sence....but WOW has no connection at all to the hardware market...and if you think it does, you are an absolute idiot.

Come on. I'm awaiting your well thought out document that uses stereotypes as basis for argument. "Well all my friends that play WoW have crappy PCs guys so that theory applies to everyone else!"

The reason why I believe console is superior is because like the TC said, consoles only needs around 110-200Watts of power on average while the PC is a energy hungry machine.

Problem is I never said that WoW drives every PC gamer into becoming hardcore. I'm saying that it's doing justice for the industry. Off your high horse buddy.

This has been covered already. But the thing is that the majority of WoW players go on to start enjoying other PC games, fact.
