Why is every single successful AAA Xbox 360 game considered overrated?

I love how people are talking about Halo 3 like they have already played it.

This leads me to believe that you all have no opinions of your own.

out of the 4 games you listed i disagree pdz being AAA material game. i think gs was generous with the score cause it was one of the first games on the next gen. console.

Ok, I'm tired of seeing people say it takes 6 hours to beat GeOW. I would love to see someone on their first time playing through the game play through Hardcore by themself and beat it in 6 hrs. They MIGHT be able to do it on Casual, which is the easiest difficulty, while roadie running through the entire game and skipping all cutscenes.

Otherwise, I call BS.

Gears of War got 9.6 and GOTY because it was, according to Gamespot, the first true next gen game. They overlooked that the game was on rails and the online mode was only 4vs4

I own both games and still go back and play GeOW. Not so for RFoM.:)

Perfect Dark Zero? the original was good, the zero was absolutely terrible

In select locations, of course.

But my beef with PDZ was.. Well for one, ****ing inconsistent framerate that was ALWAYS below 30. No exceptions. Horrible, horrible level design, terrible character modelling, redundant mission objectives, bland environments, horrid animations. Sound was OK. Sluggish controls, I grew to accept them though.

But, the online was fun sometimes, weapons felt pretty good and the weapon animations were great, no other animations. Just the weapons. But the game was shiny and bloomed up, so most people take that for a good looking game.

Although I will say, some of the best network code on the 360.

I think even LEMMINGS know and accept PD0 is overrrated like ****. Other games? Nope. They deserve it.

I guarantee Halo 3 is overrated, Microsofts pockets are deep, they do what they can to dominate. Not saying they did that here, but it wouldn't be surprising.

No question there is bias here towards the 360, as soon as I knew Gerstmann was gonna review it, I knew 9.0 at least anyways, even if the game deserved a 6.0, which I'm certainly not saying it does.

because halo 3 is so overated it is not funny. no distructable envirments, no covering system which is becominga trendto fps. it is the most generic shooter ever. you shoot and shoot run back and forth. how boring is that. and i hope some of you see this. it is the biggest casual game ever except for gta series. you need to play it before you can bash on it. i didnt understand the commotion for halo. i played parts of the campaign, but mostly played halo 1 online through gamespy . this was during my CS days. i was able to play the whole halo 1 campaign then halo 2 with my friend when halo 2 came out. i was actually amazed at how smart the AIs were, big environments compare to other console fps, and vehicles in the game.

i really did enjoy playing online and made it more enjoyable playing with and agaisnt my friends. there is no console fps game that can match halos online play last gen. imo i think the socom series came 2nd place after halo as one of the better console shooter games last gen. of course if you arent into fps games you might not like halo.

halo is a good game for having fun, its isnt good competition wise, halo is probably the worst competitive fps ive ever seen

plain and simple this games was over rated. GS got caught up in the NEXXXXXT GENZORZ! and TEH GRAPPPPHIXXX and forgot they were game reviewers. if this game would have come out after some PS3 heavy hitters and halo 3 it would have scored much much lower. the only reason it scored well was because it was uber pretty at its time. but like i said then and still say now. This all being said i also think GS, rather Jeff has a soft spot in his heart for the 360 and more then likely had scored the game before he even played it. and dont think im some cow. im going for the pswii60 this gen, im 2/3 the way there and im just waiting for the new chipsets to come out in the 360's before i sink my money into one. also lems better get off their high horse just because they're in the lead right now with aaa games doesn't mean it'll last, its still the beginning of the war and nintendo is showing some promise, plus sony ps3 is full of "potential"...lol. i never get sic of the just wait thing, but in all honesty it does look like 2008 will be a great year for the PS3 while the 360 has already pushed out its most highly anticipated games cept for a couple. sony's top francises are set to release in 08. in my mind what its really gonna boil down to is which has the better running GTA that should be a big deciding factor

if u consider Bioshock not exclusive, then GoW isnt exclusive either.. but the fact of the matter is, people dont consider bioshock to be overrated

I'm not even sure you know, not only servers. No, it doesn't need servers they just needed to fix the bullet lag and I KNOW it could have been done without dedicated servers.

But not that, the game didn't even have any matchmaking, which really could have helped especially with ranked matches. The game had 3 game modes to begin with, none of which particularly interesting -- not to the degree of Halo game modes. Not even to other games. No customization at ALL, Lancer is damn useless. So many faults with the game. They just get more apparent as time goes on.

But I agree with the single player, it's really quite clear that there's little substance to the game overall. In my opinion at least. But I agree, ragdolls suck the sheer amount of bullets necessary to kill one locust is ridiculous on Insane. It's not even fun at that point, it's just a grind...

I've got more complaints but I don't want to ramble on.

Edit: I've got to say. There's no goddamn variety in the game.

The biggest reason I agree with PDZ's score is because it came out in 2005 where the only real things to compare to were FEAR and BF2 the other 2 AAA's FPS of the year and

PDZ has better MP than FEAR

PDZ has better SP than BF2

Yes it isnt the original but it didnt get a damn 9.9 either did it , the game got AAA for the same reason Frontline did on PS2, it did enough to be considered a sucess and impressive on all fronts

-The Graphics were solid in HD for 2005

-The core gameplay was good

-The weapons flat out beat any FPS no, any shooter in the year BY A WIDE MARGAIN

-The music and sound beat out any FPS expect maybe COD on sound but it beats it in Music

-The Co-op online was fantastic, be real The "Rooftops escape" is one of the best Co-op FPS levels in history if not the best let alone that year and I dont think I've ever played anything like it

-The 32 player online is fantastic

too many idiots trying to directly compare it Halo (which he pointed in the review) and to its 5 year ago predecessor it isnt. But it was stil enough to be impressive on all fronts BACK IN 2005

other game site reviewed gears higly as well. it wasnt just gs. i actually enjoyed gears campaign and mp. only time i enjoy playing gears mp is playing with ppl i know with or against them.

most of the other reliable reviewers gave halo 3 9.5 or above

If I made a thread saying how I think Heavenly Sword is a great game in it's own right, be it short -- and a graphical and technical achievement.
